Chapter 9
“It smells of piss in here” Lucius turned his nose up at the stale air and let out a long slow breath.
“Its jail…” replied Severus, “…muggle jail, what did you expect?”
“I have no idea, just not this. This is so disgusting.”
Severus let out a harsh bark of laughter. The men rounded the corner and took notice of a police man sitting behind a desk. The man was large and had on a blue uniform that looked as if at any moment the stitching would unravel. “Evening, gentlemen, what can I help you with?”
“Our son’s are being held in this ludicrous confine. Direct me towards them.”
Severlipplipped his hand over the small of Lucius’ back and softly said, “Let me handle this.”
“Sir…Mister Roberts” Severus stated, “My friend is correct in stating that our son’s have been a bit wayward this evening and somehow have landed themselves into this fine facility. I was hoping that we might be able to speak with their captor’s, I mean officers, in negotiating their release.”
“Umm, yes” stated Roberts fingering his name badge. “What’s their name?”
“Malfoy and Snape” Lucius replied. “Draco Malfoy and Brandon Snape.”
Roberts was banging on some board with letters on it. Lucius winced at the pounding noise that came from the board.
“Yes, they are being held here on questioning ...the charge is very severe. They are advised to get council.”
Severus looked at the man with a glare that most adults would have run from. “What type of severe charge?”
The man looked into Snape’s eyes, there was something funny about this man, he thought, something that he could not place…
“Murder” said Roberts quietly.
Brandon jolted straight up in his chair startling Draco out of his quiet slumber. His father was in the prescient and he was furious. Brandon could feel the power radiating through the metal bars.
“What is going on?” o aso asked quietly.
“Father’s are here. They’re pissed. Maybe we should have summoned someone else.”
“Yeah, calling mum would have been loads better” Dracoffcoffed.
Brandon started nervously pacing the jail floor. Five minutes. Ten minutes. Fifteen minutes were by and still Severus and Lucius had not shown their faces in front of the boys. Brandon was on the verge of loosing his stomach contents. Draco thought that if Brandon did not calm down soon, he would be using that toilet in the corner no matter if everyone could see him or not.
“STOP IT” Draco yelled. “You pacing is not helping matters. They will arrive when they arrive and yell at us and hex us for sure. Then maybe we can go home where we can get a decent smell in our noises and maybe a quick shower before we collapse from exhaustion!”
“You don’t seem to quite grasp that I killed a man tonight. I used the killing curse. Father knows it was me. He can smell my guilt. I could stay here indefinitely if he saw fit for me too.”
“Uncle Severus would never leave you here. He will want to punish you himself. It is all part of the Slytherin motif. As for you casting the killing curse, I am well aware, having watched you do it. Thn den deserved it.”
Draco’s head snapped around, he could hear the swooshing of a cloak coming closer and closer. Then he caught sight of the platinum hair that was his fathers.
The guard moved to open the cell door.
Brandon’s eyes were transfixed on his fathers. Brandon could feel the elder Snape rooting around in his mind. With a sharp turn of the heBranBrandon broke contact.
“You got twenty minutes” the guard said leading them all into a small room with one window that the inhabitants of the room could not see out of.
Brandon moved to speak, but was cut off by the wave of his father’s hand. ‘Do not speak out loud…they have their spies just as we do…speak through me and I will relay all messages to the proper person.’
Brandon and Draco bowed their heads saying that they understood. Each man took a seat around a small, dirty table. Draco looked expectantly at his father, waiting for any sign of the horror that he suspected Lucius to about to deliver. None came. Draco’s eyes turned to Brandon’s face, the boy was being invaded and Draco knew this for sure. Severus had entered his son’s mind and was watching snippets of images over the past few days. He was forced to give up private, personal information, the girls in the bar, the fiery kiss that he had shared with Draco, along with valuable information that seemed to mean something to Severus. As his father pulled away from his mind, he was left with a cold, empty feeling in the pit of his stomach; almost like he was ashamed of some of his actions. He saw his father turn to the silver-haired wizard and re-play the images that were brought forth from Brandon’s minds eye. The picture show ended with Lucius looking slightly pleased with what he saw. He turned to his son and swiftly gave him a slap on the back, along with a nod of approval. Draco felt sick.
“Well, we must be going” announced Severus.
“Going?” said Draco.
“Father, surly you understand, they will not allow us to go anywhere” whispered Brandon.
Severus stood and took a long look at his son and the boy that he felt was a nephew. Struggling to keep his composure, he leaned over and placed his hands on the table in front of them. With his most fearsome snarl he said slowly and velvety, “Get your asses up off these grimy chairs and proceed to the front door. I am fairly sure if Lucius stays here any longer all of his specioususaum will drip off onto the floor and permeate. I will take care of the guards.”
Brandon knew to obey.
Draco wanted to know if his father had been insulted or praised.

The trip back to Snape Manor was uneventful. There was little room for breathing since the air was trapped in all the tension that Severus and Lucius radiated. Stepping into his fathers study was difficult for Brandon. He knew that he would have to answer many questions that he did not seem to have answers too. He plopped down on the sofa as his father and Lucius took seats in the winged backed chairs. He felt rather than saw Draco slide in next to him.
After summoning a bottle of whiskey, Severus begun to slowly pick over the thoughts in his mind, not knowing where he wanted to start, he looked to Lucius, who was just thrilled that his son liked women. Severus snorted. Lucius turned his head and gracelessly said, “What?”
“You’re just happy to find out that Draco loves to fuck as much as you do.”
“Yes,” Lucius smiled, “I have to say that does give me a warm and tingly feeling all over.”
Draco sat up straighter, “Does that mean that you are not angry about us playing with the muggles?”
“Mad!” Lucius barked, “I’m pissed that I was not invited! She looked rather tasty.”
Severus sighed and swirled his whiskey around, “You boys need rest. Go. We will speak in the morning.”
As the boys began to slowly rise from their seats, they suddenly had dear settle in their stomachs that they would be called back, so they ran to Brandon’s room.
“Have you ever seen them move so fast?” asked Lucius.
“Humph…once, there was a bludger on their ass, though.”
“How do you think Carnell found out about Helena? Gods, Bethey for crying out loud. How did he know where to find Brandon…most importantly, did you see Brandon stand for himself? He is only a boy! What manner of power will he have when he comes of age?” Lucius stopped speaking momentarily, slowly he spoke again, “You have to know, old friend, I did not betray your trust.” As quiet as the words were, Severus heard them clearly.
“I am aware that you were not the trader, nor did it even enter my thoughts.”
“How do you suppose that Carnell found out then? Surely the Dark Lord would have bragged on this information. Surely, had he known…?” Lucius’ words silenced.
“Joseph Carnell and I were rivals at one time. He was vying for a young girl’s affection that I had taken as a lover. She was a beautiful girl. But only that. I taught Carnell at Hogwart’s. The girl, also. She was too voluptuous to be ignored. . She cut herself in class once in her fourth year; she smelled so lovely. I bid my time until she was out of my class, away from the prying eyes of the old fool, and took her. She tasted wonderful. Anyhow, I had little use for her after the conquer and she was discarded. Apparently, she
developed some state of attraction towards me and dumped the Carnell person. She followed me around for months; I could not get rid of her. She wasn’t much younger than me, just five or six years. She took her life; I could not give her what she wanted.”
Lucius looked at his friend, realizing that there was a lot more to this man than even he knew.
“You can not be blamed for the death of an unstable girl.”
“How do you know she was unstable?
“She followed you around like a lost puppy begging for food and expected you to feed her. Please! Anyone who knows you knows that you’re a hard ass that wants a good fuck and then to get the hell out before the cuddling starts!”
Severus knew his friend was making light of the situation.
“We will work this out together,” Lucius said as he placed his hand over his friends shoulder, “I will help you protect your wife and children, just as you have been there for me in my times of need.”
“Lucius, the Dark Lord is back, full power, where are your loyalties?”
Lucius took a deep breath and slowly released it. “Severus, my loyalties lie somewhere…”
Severus never heard where the ‘somewhere’ was…his wife had stepped in the study and announced that she needed company and that Narcissa was growing cold, also.
“Its jail…” replied Severus, “…muggle jail, what did you expect?”
“I have no idea, just not this. This is so disgusting.”
