Chapter 9
Harry didn’t stir.
“Harry?” Draco asked in a tentative manner.
Jumping up, he roughly grabbed and pinned Draco against the wall. “Do you have the bloody courage to speak to me? You utter bastard! I let you fuck me! I handed my fucking virginity to you on a fucking silver platter. And what did you think all that time?” Harry slammed him against the wall ruthlessly. “Did you think that Dad and Mum would be pleased? That you fucked Harry Potter? Were you going to tell your dearest Slytherin cronies about how you fucked The Boy Who Lived in the freakin’ hallway? What the hell were you thinking, Malfoy? That you can stick your wand up my arse and whisper Avada Kedavra in my ear as a sweet nothing?”
“No,” Malfoy whispered, and then in a stronger voice, “No, I love you.”
“Love me? Does pwetty wittle Dwaco love me?” Potter asked, enraged, then he added quietly, “Then why does he hurt me?”
Draco’s gray eyes looked up at him, pleading, “I didn’t want to; it wasn’t my fault. Listen, Harry, look…”
“I listened once. I trusted once. I never will again,” the words echoed solemnly in the empty corridor. Harry, earlier today, trusted for the first time in his life. Harry, now, has walked the path of no return, where trust does not reign; it is non-existent.
“Harry, listen. My father, he…he made me. He branded me with the mark himself,” pausing, Draco winced in remembrance of the pain, “Don’t you see that it was none of my fault? Are you blind to that?”
Bowing his raven head, Harry answered, “I do not blame you for that.”
“Then where does the blame lie? Where? Tell me…tell me,” Draco replied fervently.
The green eyes reluctantly met the gray, “Because you lied.”
“Can’t you forgive me for that? I mean… I’m sure I’m not the first to lie.”
“Oh, no, you’re not,” Harry stated simply.
“I’m clueless.”
“You’re just the only one whom I loved, that lied,” he sighed, “Sirius I loved, but he would rather not speak then tell me a lie. Yet, he’s gone now, and you are too. I’m alone. Leave me be.”
Malfoy stared at him bewildered, “I’m here.”
“You lied.”
“I can make it up.”
“Give me a reason to trust you and I will,” challenged Harry.
“I love you,” Draco answered, “What else do you need?”
“Those are words which can be said untruthfully,” reasoned Harry, and shaking his head, “Good-bye, Draco Malfoy.”
Draco quickly exclaimed in a rather annoyed tone, “No!” Draco cursed himself for using that tone, if he hadn’t…But the ifs were many, and what’s done is done.
“Oh, what, not enough to tell your Slytherin mates?” Harry inquired scathingly. He stooped to pick up his robes and walked away. Leaving a fair-haired, stormy-eyed Draco standing in the remains of his life.
