Chapter Nine

"Morning, love.  Are you feeling better now?"

Sirius stretched and looked over at his husband.  "Much better."  He brushed some hair out of his eyes and looked thoughtful.  "I'm really free, aren't I?"

James grinned and pulled Sirius down on top of him.  "Yes, you are.  Thank Merlin."

"Incredible," Sirius murmured.  "It's been so long…not sure if I even remember what it feels like."

James sighed.  "Sirius, if only I had known.  Gods, I would have found a way to escape, and I would have freed you, damn it!"

Sirius gently kissed James' lips.  "If I had known what had happened to you, I would have tried to escape sooner to save you."

James reached up and moved several strands of Sirius' hair.  "Who would have thought any of this would have happened?  We thought we were invincible in school, didn't we?"

Sirius snorted.  "Apparently we weren't."

"I still can't believe you've forgiven me," James said in awe.  "I don't deserve it."

"I think you do, James, and in this case, my opinion is the only one that matters.  I do forgive you.  I honestly don't know how we're going to pull it off, but we need to try to move on.  Somehow."

"You're right," James agreed quietly.  "It's not going to be easy, though."

"You never know," Sirius replied positively.  "It might be easier than you think.  Part of your problem is feeling guilty.  Who am I to talk, though?  I feel guilty, as well."

"But you have nothing to feel guilty about."

"Of course I do, James.  You know what, though?  All of this serious talk is getting me depressed.  This is my first day of freedom in I don't know how many years.  I think we should do something to celebrate."

"And what exactly did you have in mind?" James asked with a smile forming.

"I think you know exactly what I have in mind, Mr. Potter."

"Indeed, I do," James replied.  He pulled Sirius back down on top of him and tenderly kissed his husband.

Sirius moaned into James' mouth and began tugging at James' pajama pants…

"I hope he's feeling better this morning," Harry commented worriedly.  "They should never have given him so much Veritaserum!"

"I agree with you, Harry.  They gave Sirius more than they gave Pettigrew.  Those bastards!"

"Ron!  Don't talk that way.   They shouldn't have done that to Sirius, but look at it this way-he is a free man now, Harry.  How long have you been waiting for that to happen?"

"How long has he been waiting for that to happen?" Ron commented dryly.

"You're right," Harry said.  "I wonder what people will think when they see him, though?  I hope they believe the damn truth!"

Hermione sighed sadly.  "Harry, it's inevitable that some people won't believe the truth-as least not immediately.  But, I think that enough people will believe it."

Harry nodded his head.  "I hope you're right.  It's nearly time for lunch, isn't it?  I think I'm going to go check on Sirius and see how he's doing."

Hermione raised an eyebrow.  "He's probably still sleeping, Harry."

"Maybe, but I want to make sure he's okay."

"Harry, your father is there with him.  I'm sure James isn't going to let anything happen to Sirius," Hermione said.

"I know, but I still want to see him.  I'll see you both later, allht?"ht?"

"Right, see you later, mate," Ron said.  "Merlin, I'm hungry!"

Hermione just shook her head.

Harry knocked quietly on the door, but nobody answered.  He could hear his father yelling Sirius' name, and he was a bit worried that something was wrong with his godfather.

Of course, Harry knew the password into Sirius' and James' rooms, so he quickly muttered it and opened the door.  Harry hurried to the bedroom and glanced through the open door.

"Fucking hell!" Harry screamed as he saw his father and Sirius, completely naked, having sex.

"Harry!" James exclaimed as he reached for the blanket to cover himself and Sirius up, at least partially.

Sirius, however, found the situation rather amusing.  He burst out laughing as he looked at his godson's shocked face.

Harry quickly exited the rooms and ran all of the way back to the Gryffindor common room.  He said the password and practically knocked down Hermione as he blew into the room and landed on the couch.

"Harry?" Hermione asked tentatively.

"Am I always a clueless idiot?" Harry questioned.

"Of course not!" Ron exclaimed.

Hermione sat down next to her best friend and patted his shoulder.  "No, you're not, Harry.  I mean, sometimes, you can be a bit dense, but not often."

"Gee, thanks, Mione."

"I can't help it if it's true," Hermione replied.  "Anyway, listen to what I'm saying-most of the time you're not like that.  What happened to bring this on?"

Harry groaned.  "You know how I went to check on Sirius?"

Ron and Hermione nodded their heads.

"I knocked, but nobody answered, and I heard my dad calling Sirius' name, and I was worried that something happened."

"Oh gods, Harry, you are clueless sometimes, aren't you?" Ron asked with a grin.

Hermione threw a pillow at Ron.  "Honestly, Ron, I swear you would have done the same thing Harry did."

"I haven't evold old you what I did."

"Yes, but based on your pale face, I think we can sur wha what happened," Hermione replied.  "You walked in and saw something you'd rather not have seen, am I right?"

Harry moaned and buried his face in a pillow.  "My dad looked a bit horrified, but Sirius just started laughing.  I got out of there as fast as I possibly could!"

Ron started snickering, as did Hermione.

"Some best friends the two of you are," Harry muttered as he lifted his head.

Ron walked over and sat down on the arm of the sofa.  "Sorry, mate.  Mione is right, I'm sure I would've done the same thing, and trust me-had I done it, you'd be laughing your arse off right now!"

"That may be true, Ron, but it isn't helping me at the moment," Harry complained.  "I can't face them again!  What must they think of me?"

.^.*.^.*.^.

"Well, that was a bit unexpected," James said.

Sirius chuckled.  "Poor Harry.  The look on his face was priceless, though!"

"Merlin, Padfoot, only you would think of it that way."

"That's why you love me."

James grinned and leaned down to kiss his husband.  Then, he stopped and lifted his head.

"You bloody tease, why'd you stop like that?"

"Because I'm wondering if we should perhaps change the password or at least place several heavy locking charms on the bedroom door."

Sirius rolled his eyes.  "Trust me-he isn't coming back here anytime soon.  We're going to have to seek him out, James."
