The Days To Come
Rose's Petals
“So who else knows?” Asked Rose as she pulled her scarf tightly around her neck. They had left the library following their attempted quiet argument. Too many people had begun to watch them curiously, which made all three feel quite award. The east lawn was cold, but at least they could sit and talk in private.
“Well obviously I haven’t told anyone.” Offered Albus first.
“I figure most people already know about me, especially with Vincent talking about it.” Said Scorpius with a pause. Albus put his arm over the boy’s shoulder and drew him closer. “I never said a word to anyone about Albus and me.”
“You haven’t told your dad yet right?” Rose asked.
“No.” Both boys replied in unison.
“Rose before you start planning for us how we are going to tell our families, can you answer a question for me?” Albus asked.
“Okay?”
“Why are you okay with this? Us, I mean.”
“Well, my favorite cousin and best friend are boyfriends now!” She said beaming.
“It can’t be a simple as that.” Scorpius replied.
“Okay, well since you want the long version.” Rose began to say as she leaned back against a thick tree. “Do you remember in third year when you told me you are gay?”
“Yeah.” Said Scorpius with a smile. “Kaitlyn Doyle kept trying to get me to go on a date with her, and you had no idea why I would not.”
“You were my best friend Scor, and I was worried you would get hurt, or be lonely.” Rose said, her face turning sad again. “I guess you did, but the point is, I know you are a good person, and I knew as soon as you told me that you liked boys that life would be a little more difficult for you.”
“Rose, I’m doing okay.”
“I was still worried about you.” She turned to her cousin, Albus. “Al, I know our family gives you a rough time about being in Slytherin, but I also know you have strong morals and are protective of those you care about. You both belong together.” She reached out and took both of their hands. “You will take good care of eacho4ther.” Scorpius and Albus were speechless. They just sat looking at the loving red haired girl in front of them, thankful that they had her.
“Now that that is out of the way,” She said taking back her hands and switching into planning mode. “We need to figure out when and how we are going to let the Potter-Weasley clan and the Malfoys what is going on.”
“Well, how about we don’t tell them everting all at once.” Scorpius offered. “I may be easier to take it in parts.”
“What did you have in mind?” Albus asked.
“I was thinking I should let my father know about me over Christmas.” He replied.
“Scor?” Albus questioned. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.” Scorpius answered firmly. “He should know.”
“Okay, well I will wait until your dad knows to say anything to my family. They are not as good as Rose at keeping secrets.” Albus said with a smile.
“Until then,” Rose interjected “you will need to keep a low profile.”
“Yeah, I figured.” Albus said.
“But at least we don’t have to hide from Rose anymore.” Scorpius said to Albus. He then turned to rose and put his arms around her in a hug. “I missed you Rosie! Thank you for always accepting me.”
“I missed you to Scor. I’m so happy to see you both together.”
