I don't own Harry Potter. I make no profit from this story.
Chapter VIII
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Updates may be slow, and I have considered scrapping this and starting over from scratch. Let me know if you think it isn't a bad idea. I think it might be a perfect idea to be honest. But I am generally frustrated with my writing these days. This is more for fun, so I am trying to loosen up with it. It is also likely why it is not so great...at least in my mind...Updates will be slow or may be slow as I am trying to get something decent ready for an application for an M.F.A. Creative Writing program. And I keep looking at the sample I used to think was good and seeing what a great big pile of shit it is. I don't want to be a waste of time. So it is rather consuming me like a black hole. I am not abandoning this.
LaBib - Your review means a lot to me. I hope that this will help answer some questions...I hope that you do continue to read, and I hope to have no more large delays like I've had. I'm not one to story abandon, but I am one to scrap and rebuild. Even if the story is more for fun and to find pleasure than to be serious. I am working on another fanfiction. I think I will tear a page out of your book, and not put it up till I am finished. I'm wholly disatisfied with the adjective used to describe it (the new one). And when I say so, I am just a horrible bitch. Sorry. I shouldn't unload like this. I am glad that you like the story. I will try not to keep you waiting more than a month between updates. My trouble is deciding where to go and trying to keep cliche out of it. But sometimes the cliche is what readers want, I think. And we write for our readers, do we not? Happy Writing.

Chapter 8
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
“Uncle Severus, I have it all put together. We can send them both back.”
“We’ll send him first. She won’t agree to go easily.”
“She has to go!” Draco said, “If she doesn’t…it would be a tragedy.”
“It wouldn’t be as bad as all that,” Severus said. “You’re ever dramatic.”
Draco threw a mint from his pocket at Severus.

Lucius walked next to Hermione.
“Where are we going?” she asked, wrapping the shawl around her shoulders more tightly as they ascended.
“I received permission to take you out to a restaurant for dinner,” Lucius said. “We are going to the Silver Moon.”
“I’ve been wanting to try there.”
“Me too,” Lucius said. “Only thirty couples are served there every night.”
“I know,” Hermione said. “The food critics are raving about it.”
“Yes, supposedly the veal parmagiana is the finest in England.”
“I’ve been wanting to try the crown lamb,” Hermione said.
“Yes, that is a meal for two. Is that what you would wish for?”
“Yes, sharing food is romantic. And there is dancing after dinner?” Hermione asked.
“Yes,” Lucius said. “If you would like…I just want you to be happy.”
Hermione placed her hand on Lucius’ arm as they stepped out of the elevator.
Dinner went smoothly.
“This has been a truly wonderful evening, Ad—Lucius,” Hermione said, seeing the seriousness of his expression.
“Hermione, I have something for you. I hope you will accept,” Lucius said, passing a box across the table to her.
Hermione took the box, and opened it.
“Put it on,” she said, seeing the pretty blue sapphire bracelet. She held out her wrist.
Lucius took it and fastened it.
“It’s beautiful.”
“So you like it?”
“I love it,” Hermione said, standing and coming around the table to hug Lucius.
Lucius stood, closing as the witch squeezed his neck.
“You are such a kind wizard, Lucius.”
“Being kind to you is easy because you are so sweet to me, the sweetest,” Lucius said.
Hermione leaned up and kissed his chin.
“I love you, Hermione. I wouldn’t ever lie to you. You know that?”
“Please, don’t start the whole from the past thing again,” Hermione said. “We’re having so much fun.”
Lucius nodded, leading her to the dance floor.

*Six Weeks Later*
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
“Adon--Lucius, you don’t really expect me to believe that you were brought forward in time?” Hermione rolled her eyes a little as she said Lucius.
“I don’t want to lie to you, Hermione. Please believe me. I’m going back, and I really want you to come with me.”
“I don’t want to hear any more silliness about you being from the past. There is no way someone from the past can come to the future except by traveling normally through time to the next point. One can only go back!” Hermione said, clenching her jaw and shaking her head.
She shut the lid of her ink and cleansed the quill tip before putting them away.
“Hermione, I am going back to my own time. I want you to come with me.”
“Lucius, quit being silly,” Hermione said. “We’ve become so close. I don’t want more drama. Let it go. Please. I don’t want to deal with this.”
“Hermione, I’m leaving. I’m going back to my time. I’m going to miss you. I have to go to the Headmaster’s office now. I hope your life goes well. I do love you, but you don’t trust me.”
Hermione rolled her eyes and turned back to the assignment. He hadn’t brought this up for a while. She had gone to the library and researched and researched. She had sent several inquiries to notable wizarding book stores for books about time travel. And nothing turned up about wizards or witches coming forward. She told him the results of her search, and he just told her he kept to his story, but wouldn’t talk about it if it upset her.

Lucius sat in a window seat with his knees tucked up. He would have to marry Narcissa. He was going back to marry her. It was so bloody unfair.
He lifted the picture of Hermione he stole from the mantle in the shared common room. He sighed as she would look up from her desk and shake a fist at the camera before giggling.
He tucked the picture away. He leaned his cheek on his knee.
He sighed, standing and walking toward the owlry. Surely, he could use one of the school owls to deliver a message. He could send an owl to himself. He would write to Hermione as himself. She would then know he was telling the truth.
She would stop thinking he was joking. Had his son been so rotten to her as to make her think all Malfoys were liars? Well, the boy would need stronger discipline in the future in the past if that were the case.
He sighed, taking out a note he wrote to himself earlier. He could send the owl to the Manor.
A large eagle owl fluttered down to him as he entered the owlry.
“Will you deliver a message to Lucius Malfoy at Malfoy Manor?” he asked as the owl landed on his shoulder.
The bird held out its leg.

Severus paced the office. The little dunderhead better hurry so he didn’t miss his opportunity.
“Where is he? And where is Mother?” Draco demanded. “She better get her arse here! I want to be born!”
“A Hogwarts without you might be a blessing,” Severus said.
“I was your favorite.”
“No, you were just a Slytherin, and Potter hated you. Good work.”
“Someone is at the door, Headmaster,” Phineas said. “It’s Malfoy.”
Lucius slipped into the room with slumped shoulders.
“Where is she?” Draco demanded.
“She’s not coming,” Lucius said. “I want to go back. I won’t make her do something she doesn’t want to do. I love her.”
“But she has to,” Draco whined.
Lucius didn’t answer. He went to the fire and stared at it, brooding.
“Draco, I think it is time for you to get home.”
“I’m going to go find my Mother!”
“You will go home and see her,” Severus said, his lip curling up.
Draco stomped over and grabbed a handful of floo powder and flung it into the fire. He whooshed away.
“She will join you in the past,” Severus said. “You may be alone for some weeks though. As the next opportunity to return isn’t for three weeks, but you need to go now.”
“Yes,” Lucius said, sighing as he remembered Narcissa.
“Go to the Astronomy tower and break this potion bottle around your feet,” Severus said, handing him a sparkly purple potion.
“Yes,” Lucius said.
