Night Flight -- ch. 8

CHAPTER EIGHT

The next morning, Harry woke to Draco burrowing in his arms. He blew air steadily into Draco’s ear, and finally, the silver eyes flashed open. Draco groaned and asked, “What do you want, Potter?”

Harry grinned. He wrapped his hand around Draco’s.

“What are you…?” Draco asked quietly. He looked down at his hand as he felt something cold slide down his finger. His eyes were glued to the silver band encircling his ring finger.

“Marry me?” Harry whispered. A smile played on his lips while he brushed them across Draco’s. He saw the faintest build-up of tears in Draco’s eyes, and then the blond nodded eagerly.

“Good,” Harry purred. He kissed Draco’s lips, nose, cheek, eyelids, all over his face. “We don’t want that baby to be ashamed his daddies aren’t officially married, do we?” They rubbed their noses together in an Eskimo kiss.

Harry was threading his fingers through the soft blond hair when he heard Draco whisper, “I love you, I love you, I want to marry you, and I love you.”

“Hey,” Harry said softly. There was a slender blond lying next to him, and when he spoke, silver eyes fell on him. Harry wrapped his arms tighter around Draco, rubbing Draco’s very obviously pregnant belly.

“Hmm?” Draco looked over his shoulder at his lover. The two of them shared a soft, pliant kiss and curled together. Draco sighed and shut his eyes, resting his head on Harry’s shoulder. His pale hands threaded through Harry’s thick black hair and the two of them melted together.

“How long?” Harry whispered. He licked the shell of Draco’s ear.

“Two more months,” Draco whispered back. He settled into Harry’s arms and the two of them drifted off to sleep.

***

“How many more weeks do I have to wait, Draco?” Harry whined, playing the cute role of impatient father. Draco smiled and shrugged. They were brushing their teeth, getting ready for bed after a very long night of potions homework.

“Maybe three more weeks,” he said after rinsing his mouth. “If you’re so anxious for this child, you should be having it.” Draco wrung his hands, a bit of his nerves showing. He’d never had a child before, and he was scared he was going to do something wrong, or he was going to miscarriage, or he was going to have complications during the birth. So many things could go wrong.

“Ughhhh,” Harry sighed. He rinsed his toothbrush again, and after flicking it dry, set it back on the sink counter. Then he walked to his lover, and wrapping his arms around the blond, he set his chin on his shoulder, saying quietly, “I, Harry Potter, love you, Draco Malfoy, inexplicably.” Then he smiled and said, “And I can’t wait for this bloody baby!”

He turned Draco around in his arms, and for the next few minutes, the two of them were lost in a world of happy snogging.

“How much longerrrr?” Harry grumbled. He and Draco were sitting along the edge of the lake, throwing some of Hagrid’s rock cakes in for the giant squid, but even it wouldn’t touch them.

“Another week?” Draco replied. He snuggled into Harry’s arms, relishing in the heat of his lover’s body.

“Oh, Merlin, come on,” Harry sighed. “It’s been…what? Like…”

“Nine months?” Draco piped up. His snarky little grin only earned him a slap on the leg, but their laugh was worth it.

“Harry?”

It was the middle of the night, but Draco was awake, pain coursing through his body. He pushed Harry’s shoulder and shook him awake. Sleepy green eyes looked up at him. Draco frowned and shook his head, his expression looking more worried than upset.

“What is it, love?” Harry asked sleepily.

“Harry, it’s…” Draco started before he howled in pain. “Time!”

“Here you are, boys,” a mediwitch calmly said. “A beautiful baby girl, black hair, gray eyes, she’s going to be a heart breaker.”

Harry cooed and bopped the baby’s noise after the little bundle of joy was wrapped up in ‘mommy’s’ arms. The two fathers looked down at the little girl. Draco looked into Harry’s green eyes and asked, “What should we name her?”

The bed at St. Mungo’s was, thanks to some special requests by a one Harry Potter, big enough for both of the boys to lie next to each other. Harry wrapped his arm around Draco’s shoulders and looked at his lover. “I don’t know, love. What do you want to name her?”

“I don’t know…” Draco said softly. He brushed back some of the fine tufts of hair on his daughter’s head. He looked up at Harry and smiled shyly. “Both our mothers are named after flowers…what about Laurel Kay?”

Harry kissed the top of Draco’s head. “I like it, love,” he said softly. He looked down at their baby, Laurel, and snickered. “What about the nickname Relly?” He stuck his tongue out at Draco when he frowned. “Okay, okay, no Relly. I love you, Draco,” he whispered into his fiancée’s ear.

***

A month after Laurel’s birth, Draco was batting his eyes at Harry. His green eyed monster had just come back from putting Laurel to sleep. He smiled and asked, “You remember what you told me before the pregnancy?”

“Ummmm…” Harry said uncertainly. He sat down on the bed next to Draco and looked at him with confusion. “Maybe?”

“Will you turn me?” he asked suddenly. His eyes were sparkly as he looked up at his love.

Harry smirked, his fangs poking out of his lips ever so slightly. “I’d be honored,” he cooed. The two of them shared a leisurely kiss until Harry started kissing down Draco’s neck.

Draco purred as he felt Harry’s teeth scraping along his skin. Then he screamed as the sharp incisors sank into his skin. His scream turned into a moan as he melted in Harry’s arms. He felt his teeth tingling as he got more and more lightheaded, and as he thought about Harry, their beautiful daughter, their wedding in a month, and the rest of their lives together, he knew they were going to be just fine.

A/N: As I posted this, I had an idea. Do ya'll want to write epilogues? Anyone who wants to can write one. And I'm sure I'll love them. :) If more than three people say they're interested, I'll enable that chapter posting by other authors...thing. Just let me know! And review!! :D
