Chapter Eight
To say that Ginny wasn’t pleased to see Hermione was an understatement. The three were eating the food she had brought with her and heated up with a spell. There was no sense in making a fire as it might call unwanted attention to them and their campsite. So there she found them, talking and laughing as they ate.
“What are you doing here?” Ginny demanded.
They all looked up at her blinking.
“Eating,” Harry told her. “And talking. Why?”
Ginny turned her eyes onto Hermione. “What are you, Hermione Granger, doing here with them?”
“Eating,” she echoed Harry’s own statement. “And talking.” Hermione frowned. “Ginny, the stress must be getting to you if you could miss the obvious like that.”
The girl let out a growl, as she dumped her things and whipped out her wand.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Hermione murmured nonchalantly as she continued to eat her food.
“And why not?” Ginny demanded.
A wand was soon pressed to the underside of the younger witch’s throat as Remus stood there as Rommie. “Because she knows I’ll make you hurt if you tried anything against her, Miss Weasley.”
Ginny let out a scream and looked over to Harry as if begging him silently to save her. Hermione grabbed his as well as Ron’s arms, shaking her head no when they looked to her.
“Rommie, you know if you did anything to her, we will never hear the end of it,” she told him.
“Too true,” he sneered, but grabbed Ginny’s wand away from her. “Can’t have you changing your mind about throwing that disgusting spell of yours.”
He walked over to Hermione, staring at her. “Found your friends I see.” He looked over to Ron before looking over to Harry, giving each an assessing glare.
“Have you eaten yet?” she asked him. “We have plenty.”
“We need to speak,” he told her. “Now.”
“Okay,” she said, setting aside her plate. “Lead the way.”
They went to the other side of the tent and Remus set up silencing spells before yanking her to into his arms.
“You smell of them,” he muttered.
“We hugged, but that’s it,” she told him sounding sour. “It didn’t help that they were both soaked to the bone. They tend to forget drying and warming charms.” She frowned. “Though why they went swimming in their clothes in this weather is beyond me.”
He chuckled. “I’m sure they had their reasons, love.”
She smiled, tilting her face up towards his. “Are you still angry at me?”
“Yes, furious,” he murmured, rubbing his nose against hers. “When I get you alone I’m going to spank that delectable ass of yours, pet.”
Her arms went around his waist, burying her face against his chest. “I’m still glad I came out here and found them. They didn’t even have sleeping bags!”
“What?”
“No sleeping bags, no tent, and no food,” she muttered. “I wonder at times if they think at all.”
“They’re not stupid,” he murmured.
“I never said they were. I accused them of not using what intelligence they do have,” she retorted. “We best get back over there before Ginny convinces them to leave us here or worse.”
They arrived back at what would have been the campfire area just in time to hear Ginny say that there was no proof that the two people there were who they say they are.
“…Are you even sure that’s Hermione? Really?”
“It appears you were correct,” ‘Rommie’ said, glaring at Ginny who was sticking her jaw out stubbornly.
“Are you Hermione Granger?” Ginny asked.
“Yes,” she answered. “I’m Hermione Jane Granger. Are you Ginerva Weasley? Do you have proof other than your say so? Because let me tell you, Ginny, all I have to do is say one thing to Harry and he’ll know it’s me. Can you say the same?”
Ginny went red in the face. “What do you mean?”
Hermione rolled her eyes as she went over to Harry, leaned over and whispered into his ear just loud enough for him to hear about their third year and how they save Sirius and Buckbeak using a time turner.
When she walked away, Harry looked to Ginny. “That’s Hermione.”
“How do you know?” Ginny demanded. “She could be lying to you!”
“She isn’t,” Harry replied. “And I know it.”
“Hermione can’t love you the way I can!” Ginny cried.
“What are you blathering on about?” Harry snapped and the two of them started to argue as Ron was trying to get out of between them.
Hermione leaned closer to the big man next to her, whispering, “I wish I had popcorn. This is better than a muggle movie.” To which Remus snickered.
“Stop it!” Harry snapped at her. “I broke up with you! Now I see I did it for the wrong reasons! You are a tiresome harpy and I want nothing more to do with you!”
Ginny left the camp in a storm of tears and curses, grabbing her wand from ‘Rommie’ before running off.
“Was that wise?” Hermione asked him.
“Not to worry, love. I made it so that she can’t do any harm for a time,” he assured her. “Now introduce me to your friends. I’m sure we have much to speak of.”

“So, Rommie, how did you meet Hermione?” Ron asked, sounding jealous.
Rommie frowned, looking over to Hermione who said, “There’s nothing between us. He’s just being a dolt.”
“Hermione!” Ron exclaimed.
“Ron, back off before he curses you for what he sees as impeding on his territory,” she told him. “Or I might hex you because you’re acting like a buffoon. There’s no reason why you should be jealous. There’s nothing between us and never will be. And if you tried, Lavender Brown might have something to say about that as well, need I remind you?”
Ron pouted, but said no more on that topic. It was then that they all caught up with what they had been doing so far to find the horcruxes. They had broken into Gringotts Bank! Hermione didn’t say a thing. Telling her as excited as only young men can be over their adventure, as she was clutching at Remus’s hand with whitening knuckles. When they were done with the storytelling, she was too relieved that they made it out alive to reprimand them for being so reckless.
“So you have the cup?” Hermione asked them. “Did you destroy the horcrux already?”
“I hid it, as I didn’t have the sword yet and it wasn’t as if I had help…”
“What? Ron wasn’t with you?” She looked over to her friend with disappointment. “Please tell me that you didn’t leave Harry alone when he needed you the most!”
“Yes, he left for a time,” Harry said, sounding sad. “He-he thought I had a plan. That I should know what to do every minute and that I would have the answer to everything.” He looked over to Ron. “But he came back and just in time too.”
