Snape Answers a Plea
Snape Answers a Plea
Severus Snape lounged in a comfortable chair, lost in the pages of a book. Precisely at eight, someone rapped at his door, three times, in rapid succession. Without tearing his eyes from his tome, he lifted his wand and pointed it towards the front door.
The cloaked figure on his stoop startled slightly when the door opened inward without anyone there to greet him. With a tiny shudder, he stepped inside, gently closing the door behind him with the softest of clicks.
Once the visitor’s eyes adjusted to the dimmer candlelight inside, he saw everything laid out exactly as his instructions had indicated. He shivered with nervous excitement as he slipped off his shoes and arranged them neatly on the mat provided.
Quietly, he padded down the long hallway in his stocking feet. As instructed, he kept his eyes downcast, not peeking through any of the doorways.
In the library, Severus Snape inclined his head slightly as if to listen to his guest. As the door to the cellars opened with its distinctly un-oiled groan of protest, the Master closed his book with one anticipatory thought, and a gleam in his eyes: “Not the only groan I will hear tonight.”
A/N: Dedicated to SoftObsidian, in celebration of the upcoming birthday!
Again, exactly 200 words, not counting title and author’s note. You didn’t want more, did you?
