Chapter Eight

Hermione rubbed her face against his chest, lifting it up to look her lover in his eyes. His hand combed through her hair with a small smile gracing his lips. She moved up, kissing his mouth gently and moving the kisses to his eyes.

His arms went tightly around her, feeling her arms going around him as well. Lucius ran his hands over her, as if assuring himself that this was real—that she was real.

“Sweet,” he breathed. “Sweet, sweet witch.”

Hermione slipped her leg around him as well, muttering, “You’re not close enough to me.”

He moved her other leg around himself too, pressing into her snug heat. Lucius felt her shuttering around him, pressing herself all the more against him. He kissed her mouth hungrily.

“Never close enough,” he muttered. “Never enough…my angel…my sweet…sweet witch.”

Right as Hermione was about to climax the intensity that she was feeling had her doing something she had never done before. She bit him hard enough to draw blood. The metallic tang of his blood flooded her mouth as she heard his yell of pain that mingled with both his climax as well as her own.

He felt as her tongue licked at the bite mark and she kissed his ear, murmuring an apology against the lobe.

“I-I couldn’t help myself,” she sobbed. “I’m so…”

He pulled her head back slightly, kissing away the tears. “Don’t apologize,” he told her. “You did it correctly.” When she looked at him startled, he chuckled and whispered, “My angel, you marked me as your mate. As a witch it is a part of our nature.”

“It is?” she asked him, still worried that she had gone beyond the norm.

“It is,” he breathed, kissing her mouth lightly. “Now, my love, it is your turn.”

The couple didn’t join the others until dinner five days later. Hermione walked into the dining room with Lucius hand in hand. She had a contented smile on her face. Hermione thanked Lucius quietly as he pulled out her chair for her. She was in the middle of putting her napkin on her lap when Ron made his presence known.

“What is that?” he demanded.

“What would that be, Ron?” she asked, slipping her hand over Lucius’s.

“He bit you!” he snapped, pointing to the scar on the slope of her neck. “And is that a wedding ring?”

She lifted her left hand, looking at it. “Why yes, it is.” She looked over to her former boyfriend. “As for the biting, I have to admit I was the one that bit him first.” Hermione smiled at her now blushing husband. “Lucius tells me that I have the ability to drive him to madness with my…”

“Hermione, they do not need to hear that,” Lucius interrupted.

“No, we don’t,” both Harry and Draco repeated together.

“Speak for yourself,” George said. “I personally want details.”

“As do I!” Fred chimed in.

“But you didn’t want to get married!” Ron yelled.

Hermione leaned over and whispered something to Lucius who nodded. He stood up and went over to Ron, whispering something to him that had him all but running from the table in his haste to leave.

Hermione was watching him as he sat back down. “What did you say to him?”

“Nothing of import,” he murmured.

“Because I only wanted you to tell him that…” She stopped herself from going on. “Never mind. He’s gone. That’s all that matters.” But then frowned. “Just what did you say to him?”

He smiled. “I told him he was a dead man if he stayed.”

“That’s probably the only way you could have gotten him to leave food in haste,” Charlie said with a grin. “Congratulations on your wedding.”

“Thank you,” Hermione murmured. “Where is Bill and Ginny? In truth I didn’t expect either Ron or her to stay, but I had hoped Bill would have stayed at least another day.”

“Work,” the twins replied.

“As for Ginny, she remembered that Zabini lived near here,” Draco said with an evil grin.

“She ‘remembered’ that he lived near here? And did she ‘remember’ that Zabini’s mother was a black widow who would more than likely kill her after she took the vows and pumped out a grandchild for her?” Hermione asked.

“Sadly, no she didn’t,” Harry replied. “If she intends to behave like she has been, she is on her own.”

Hermione gave a reluctant nod of her head and smiled when her husband kissed her temple.

“I’ll floo them,” he murmured. “Give them a heads up. She’ll be back in the Burrow before too long.”

“Thank you,” she whispered, squeezing his hand and began to eat.

Hermione drifted into the room, slipping up to Lucius as he watched the night. Leaning against the railing, she looked up to the stars. Absently she rubbed her face against his shoulder, sighing with contentment.

“I’m going to miss this place,” she murmured.

“But it’s time to get back to life,” he replied, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. Kissing her temple, Lucius added, “We’ll be back again.”

She smiled slowly.

“What is going through that devious mind of yours, love?” he purred against her ear.

“I was just thinking about what the reaction will be to not only our relationship, but Harry’s and Draco’s as well.” She laughed quietly. “Life has definitely become interesting.”

Scooping her up laughing, he replied, “Thank Merlin!”
