What would it take?
To satisfy your hunger
Is it hunger?
True hunger isn’t for food
It’s for death
To see the blood spill
To hear the last breath
To satisfy your hunger
How many would it take?
Chapter Eight
Like a Dream
Eric smiled slightly as he felt the anger that was practically radiating from the Head of Gryffindor house. He knew that there was no way Harry would be able to make it through his classes today; and he had warned all the teachers beforehand that it was important that Harry answer his cell. It seemed as though they didn’t expect him to tell the truth, well they would have to learn that he did not lie.
By now everyone in the school knew about the telephone call and what Harry had said. He had been careless in his conversation to have it in front of the class but it made sense. If he held such a conversation in front of so many people they would either think it was a prank or be too scared to do anything about it.
The looks from the tables didn’t change much more then when they found out about the cloaked figure being Harry in the first place, though there was some more interested faces. It seemed however that his old house had now turned completely against him except a hand full of people, he didn’t know their names yet but he would in time.
Names had always been his downfall, he could tell you anything else except the person’s name, for some reason it just didn’t want to stick. A name would however be known to him if you impress him in something that he’s interested in, Harry was one of the select few that did that on first sight.
He was by no means a well dressed boy, nor did he know anything about what Eric did… but he was tough and could understand and do a lot more then anyone he trained before. It didn’t take much for Harry to figure out what it was that Eric did, by the end of the night Harry was making plans to start a schedule to see where he would stand in the ranks. It took a little less then a week for the testing to end, and to say that Eric was impressed would be an understatement, there was little that the boy couldn’t do and he planned to use that as much and often as possible.
From the stories that he read in the paper, although some of them were ridicules; he honestly didn’t believe that this young boy could do things that normally took a lifetime to learn and perfect. The only bump that they had to get over was the actual killing, sure Harry had the moves and the means to kill someone but he didn’t truly have the heart; with each kill it was slowly destroying him.
When it was time for his first kill, Harry froze for a moment. Eric was about to kill the guy they were hunting but something flashed in his eyes and before he knew it the guy was laying in a pool of his own blood on the ground, looking back at the ceiling, lifeless.
When asked latter that night Harry explained how he allowed himself to truly become a murderer, Eric could never forget those words as long as he lived. “If I didn’t kill him… then how could I free everyone else?” It was then that Eric started to see Harry in a new light, then that he could honestly say that the boy that he thought he met didn’t truly exist… there was only a man inside of that boys’ body and had been for a long time, too long.
Smiling at Luna, Eric quickly checked for any spells or hexes on his food before taking small bites, not worried in the lest about what could be happening to Harry while out on a hit. A couple of the teachers looked at him like they wanted to ask but bit their tongues as not to say anything in front of the students. ‘Stupid fools… the students probably know more then you ever will.’
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Rough, cold stone was pressed against his back while a heavy body was against his front, he was trapped and they both knew it. Panic began to enter his mind before he could stop and think rationally, all he knew now was fear and his own thoughts of his own stupidity for trying to run away. When he started this life he knew that it would be possible for him to have his life taken from him… he just didn’t think that it would be taken so soon.
It was only a couple of days ago, a week at most that he accepted a proposal from the local police to spy for them, what a mistake. Had he just stayed in the gang and remained loyal he would have been rewarded, and now the greatest reward he would receive was death. He could feel the cold steel against his temple at a slightly upward angle, it was going to look like suicide… it always did.
Nobody heard the shot from the gun; a silent silencing spell had made sure of that, they would not be interrupted. The body fell to the floor with a soft thud, another life taken without an ounce of regret or a moment of hesitation. Nothing was left behind that would prove this as a murder, only guesses with no evidence, they could do nothing.
There was a slight creak from the door as the man opened it, not even bothering to glance around or show any indication that he had done anything wrong. A shadow fallowed him in the slight chill of the evening air, staying away for about half a mile before catching up and talking in a hushed voice.
“That’s the last one for today… you can go back now” Harry merely nodded at the figure before speaking to him, his voice held slight humor in it. “Why thank you, Matt… you know, if I didn’t know any better I would think that you were trying to get rid of me” A slight chuckle could be heard before Harry nodded his thanks and glanced around. Sensing eyes on him he made it obvious that he was slipping Matt a bit of paper before hailing a cab and taking off, back to Hogwarts.
