Ch 8
Harry sighed. How did Lanna end up in Slytherin? She just seemed so...nice? Was that the word?
Ron was droning insistently to Harry, and sadly Harry couldn't stay focused. "Only sluts end up in that House. I bet you she's already plotting how to kill Harry and end up with Malfoy's money."
Peeking down the Gryfindor table, Harry noticed that Hermione wasn't listening to a word Ron was saying either. Unfortunately that's when Ron had to ask if anyone was listening to him.
Hermione muttered, "Of course, Ron."
An owl saved the day. Landed right in Harry's plate. "Harry, what is it?" Hermione asked.
"It's from Dumbledore. Looks like there's an Order meeting tonight and we're all invited."
Ron gaped, "An actual Order meeting? We get to actually go?"
Hermione frowned, "Does the letter state what the meeting's about? Why invite us now?"
"I don't know," Harry murmured, "but the meetings tonight at ten."
"Well it's seven now, so we'll just have to wait three hours," Hermione huffed glaring at her watch.
Harry frowned. He didn't understand why Dumbledore was suddenly inviting him and his friends to an order meeting, especially since they were "underage". Honestly, this whole thing was centered around him! He needed at the very least an introduction to what was going on. But now it seemed like he was going to receive that introduction after all.
"I don't know about you but I bet Dumbledore is going to tell us what to watch out for this year. After all, we can't let Harry go and get somebody else killed."
Harry's eyes widened, it had to be a hallucination! He was hearing things! His best friend would never say something so...torturous. But no he had...otherwise Hermione wouldn't be staring at Ron with her mouth open, speechless.
"Ronald Weasley...that is the most...shocking, untrue statement I have ever heard. And that's saying something!" Hermione gasped.
Ron looked caught. Like a rabbit cornered by a fox. His mouth opened and closed until he got out, "But it is true! Sirius! He's dead! Because of Harry! If Harry had taken those private lessons with Snape seriously... Sirius would be alive."
Hermione huffed, "Harry's a powerful wizard, but no matter how seriously he studied...Voldemort will always have years of experience. You can't expect Harry to be able to master such an ability to such an extreme that he could keep Voldemort out of his head!"
Harry blinked, "Thanks, Hermione...but do you guys realize you're talking about me like I'm not sitting here?"
"Oh gosh, Harry, I'm so sorry," Hermione apologized.
Ron just fumed.
What was it that Lanna said? Something about Ron not having the best intentions? Thinking back Harry could see the pattern. He should have seen it. How could he have forgiven Ron for fourth year? That was the most obvious display of Ron's loyalty right there. He was such an idiot. But what could he do? The Weasleys were like family...
"Harry, ignore my stupid brother. When does he ever know what he's talking about anyway?" Ginny pointed out.
Harry blinked. Ginny was grinning up at him with the most lovely smile. Somehow, it triggered a thought about Lanna. Lanna. Probably the most sexy girl Harry had ever laid eyes on. What was he going to do? How was he obsessing over a girl he had just met?
