Chapter Eight: Face Your Enemy, Face Your Fear, Face Yourself.
The next morning Lily awoke to a voice shouting "Mudblood!" She knew right away just who it was. she fumbled for the mirror that stayed perfectly in place in the strap of her garter and held it up to her "Yes, Master?" she asked, quickly pushing her hair out of her face. "Get up here.." Card said to her, looking over her shoulder to see that she discovered his brother. "You have a visitor." Card put the mirror down and his image was no longer visible.
Lily blinked "Visitor?.." she asked herself silently. She looked at Lang, seeing he was very much asleep, so she jumped up and hurried to her room to put on a fresh uniform. "Who could it be?" she thought to herself as she changed clothes as fast as she could. In her heart she was hoping it would be someone like Harry, Luna, or maybe even Teddy if the Lestranges let him go. She quickly dismissed all thoughts of it being her brother, seeing that the Lestranges would never let their property in someone else's hands.
After dressing she hurried up to the kitchen with her ears perked in curiosity. "I'm here master," she said sounding a bit winded "You said I have a visitor?" Card leaned back in a chair and lifted his legs on to the table crossing them at the ankles. "You took long enough, Mudblood." he said before glancing to his left and nodding. Lily, who had been standing in the doorway at first, took another step into the kitchen so she could see who was there. When Lily glanced in the direction Card was looking in, her heart stopped beating. She couldn't move..she was just stuck in a blank, terrified scare. Looking back at her with an ugly grin was the one man she feared above anyone else, including Voldemort.
"See Greyback?" Card said to Fenrir Greyback. "She's far too young for you." "When have you known youth to stop me Greenbay?" Greyback said in a raspy, snarling voice. "Besides..I bet this one has a nice little scream.." he curved his cracked, dry lips into a grin that showed his yellow, fang-like teeth. Lily could hardly breathe. She was listening to every word they were saying but she was too frightened to even talk. Card sighed and relaxed back in the chair, holding his hands behind his head "She's not vocal enough for you, Greyback. You're wasting your time. If I can't do it, even with spells you certainly can't. Ah ah..." he held up an index finger to Greyback who growled and was about to protest at his words "Remember who's home you are in Fenrir." Card said as he pushed a plate of food toward Lily "Eat." he said to her simply. "Ye...Yes master.." Lily said finally speaking up as she sat down, thanking for an excuse to not have to look at Greyback.
"Come on, Greenbay...I could do so many things with this one.." Greyback said as he started walking a bit closer to a very pale looking Lily. "And I promise to give her back to you when I'm finished.." he continued "I may even break her will a bit for you so its not so strong.." his mouth twisted into another horrible grin. "No thank you, Greyback..that won't be necessary." Card said as he lowered his feet to the ground again and stood up. "Mudblood," he walked to her "Keep eating. I'm going to step out of the room for a few moments, but you will treat Fenrir with respect, but you will not allow him to touch you. Understood?" He asked, in plain earshot of Greyback. Greyback of course didn't seem to care, he still looked at Lily with hunger in his eyes. "Yes, Master.." Lily said to Card as she started to eat a piece of toast. Card walked out of the room and Lily was left there with Greyback. Her worst fear come true.
"I remember you," Greyback said as he stared down at Lily "You're much like your mother..I bet you would taste a lot like her too. Ah, yes..she seemed so much fresher then she actually was. You were just a little one then..too little for even me. Newborns never survive a bite, it wasn't worth it." he walked a little closer to her. Greyback's words upset Lily..she tried to speak and coughed, almost choking on a piece of toast when she saw him getting closer to her. "Carefull now..." Greyback growled "We wouldn't want you choking. Even though, I do like hearing those choking noises coming from a pretty young girl." Lily's stomach turned when she heard his words. "I won't choke, Sir.." she called him 'Sir' only to please Card by treating Greyback with respect. "And also, might I be so bold Sir, in asking you why you've come here?"
Greyback leaned against the table beside her, watching her finish eating by Card's orders. "I've come to try to convince your current masters to let me...er...break you in a little for them. Make you a nice little pet." he smirked. "I assure you, sir..I am quite broken." Lily said, trying not to let her temper get the best of her as she looked up at him coldly. "That, I'm not so sure of. It took you awhile to get up here, didn't it? Playing with other family members without permission, I wonder?" Greyback said as he reached out to touch one of her ears. Lily quickly stood up and stepped back so he couldn't touch her. "They're both my masters. Equal ownership, Sir." Greyback glared at her with a bit of a snarl "Far too much backbone in you still, girl.."
Card stood outside the door listening. He held onto his wand tightly just waiting for Greyback to make a move on Lily. One noise of agony from her was all it would take. Lily began to back away from Greyback who was following her like a beast on the hunt. "I can smell your fear" Greyback said to her as his yellow fangs became more prominent as he got closer to her. "Are you sure thats fear you smell, sir?" Lily asked bravely as she stood on the other side of the table, holding tightly onto the back of a chair. Greyback inhaled deeply and then exhaled with a long, slow sigh "Ahhhh, fear mixed with loathing...my favorite kind.." he said with a smirk as he pressed the palms of his hands against the table. "I have plenty of it built up for you over the years..mostly the loathing part." Lily said, keeping her head as cool as possible.
Greyback grinned, licking his lips as he looked at her. "Why don't you show me? Lets see that part of me that runs all through your veins..." he got into a position that looked like he was a wolf eying up his prey. Lily glared at him "I'm not like you, sir..you'll never get that satisfaction from me.." Greyback growled and suddenly pounced over the table, knocking Lily on her back, sitting on her stomach and grabbing her by the neck. "How Dare you talk to me in that-" Greyback suddenly howled in pain as a kitchen knife plunged into Greyback's left hand. Lily panted hard, closing her eyes as she tried pushing him off of her. She didn't quite get a chance since Card quickly threw open the door and came in with his wand held high. He muttered a few words and suddenly a stream of magic came from his wand, causing Greyback to fly off of Lily and across the room. Greyback shouted in agony as Lily coughed, rubbing her neck where Greyback had squeezed.
"Greyback!" Card snarled "You will do well to obey me while in my home." he said with fury in his eyes. Lily shivered and backed away from him slightly, watching him with the intensity of anger as he looked at Greyback who was growling in the corner. "So selfish Greenbay.." Greyback said as he got to his feet, holding onto his hand, trying to stop the bleeding as he pulled out the knife with a grunt of pain. "I had her marked since she was young...she was Mine!" he snarled, trying to step toward Card. "Imperio!" Card shouted angrily as he pointed his wand toward Greyback. The usually tough looking werewolf suddenly looked to be in a daze. He was now completely under Card's control.
"Now.." Card said as he walked toward Greyback. "I want you to leave. You will never ever disobey me in such a fashion again. You will also stay away from my possessions. Now, Go or else it will be your death." Lily watched as she got to her feet, standing against the wall so that she had a good view of what was happening. She was still a bit shaken up though so she let out a few small whimpers. The now zombie-like Greyback did just as Card commanded and walked out of the house without a second look back. Card watched as he saw his orders being played out in front of him with an almost evil looking smirk. He waited until Greyback was gone before he looked at Lily. "You did well, mudblood. I will summon you tonight just before dusk. I have something to show you."
Lily nodded "Yes Master.." she said watching Card leave the room. She defiantly was weary of Surprises now, but not much worse could happen, or so she thought. Tonight was the night of the full moon. Whatever this thing was that Card wanted to show her had to have something to do with that. Lily sighed and walked to Lang's room, knowing the wait for the evening was going to be long and tedious.
The next morning Lily awoke to a voice shouting "Mudblood!"
