The Absolute Insanity of Females

Chapter 8 – The Absolute Insanity of Females

The first thing that Hermione noticed was that Ginny looked a lot less fiery then she normally did. Her whole body language was different. Whereas she normally stood tall and confident under the worst of scrutiny, she was shifting on her feet and tugging on
the end of her ponytail. She looked nervous!

“Hermione…” Ginny began. She raised her eyes to Hermione’s only slightly before lowering them back to the ground, taking a deep breath and saying her next sentence so fast that Hermione, who was extremely fluent in get-it-over-with-quickly speak having practiced it frequently, had to give it a moment to sink in. “RonisatotalpratandIamsosorrythatweallturnedonyoulikethatpleaseforgiveme!”

Both Hermione and Severus breathed a sigh of relief, (Although Severus’ was in his head and therefore no one knew about it,) and, true to girlish nature of instant forgiveness, Hermione squealed ear-splittingly and hugged Ginny so hard that her face turned as red as her hair.

“I take that to mean that you forgive me?” Ginny teased as soon as she was allowed to inhale again.

“Of course…” Hermione said, but then she added, “But if you ever get Neville to glare at me again I will never forgive you.” Both girls started laughing at just the thought of a Neville-glare.

Severus shook his head slightly, and walked out of the great hall, muttering under his breath something that sounded like “women” and “absolutely insane”.

Ginny of course needed to be filled in on the happenings of the last few days. So that would explain why the girls were sitting in Hermione’s room. It would also explain why Ginny was staring at Hermione with a slack-jawed expression and why Hermione was clutching a pillow protectively to her chest and blushing harder than she had previously thought possible.

“He really said all that? To you? A student? SEVERUS SNAPE?” Ginny was definitely having a hard time forcing those facts to reconcile themselves in her head.

“Yes, he did.”

“Are we talking about the same Severus Snape?”

“Do you see a whole bunch of them running around?” Hermione asked sarcastically, looking around the room as though she expected to be ambushed by a horde of mini-Snapes.

“But that is just so… so…” Hermione held her breathe, afraid that Ginny would hate the idea.

“So what Ginny?”

“So… totally amazingly unbelievably cool! Way to go Hermione! Kudos on effectively seducing a teacher, you have to give me some pointers!”

“What story have you been listening to? I didn’t seduce him Ginny! There were no speeches of undying love and desire or anything, just a conversation that contained less insults than usual.” Hermione was now sure that if she blushed any harder her blood would boil over. She was excited that Ginny was supportive but somehow, death by evaporation didn’t seem all that appealing to her.

“But Hermione, to Snape those are practically the same thing. He called you PRETTY! You have to seduce him now… he practically demanded it! I will help you, I have these great clothes, oh and we will have to teach you to flirt properly. I have to run and get everything ready, I will come get you tomorrow!” Ginny jumped up off the bed and strode quickly to the door.

“Ginny…” Hermione started, but was cut off.

“Don’t you worry about a thing, Hermione; I will take care of everything.” With that she ran out of the room. As the door slammed, Hermione was left staring after her absolutely insane best friend and thinking that Ginny was probably getting just a little bit ahead of herself.

A/N – Sorry about the really long wait guys. It is hard to write a happy-go-lucky lovey-dovey story when you aren’t feeling very much of either. But I am better now and I hope to make up for my absence brilliantly!

Thanks to all my reviewers and thank you in advance, person who is reading this right now, for your inevitable reviewing.
