Our Only Hope Chapter 8

Harry and Severus were still naked in Harry’s bed when he shoved his wand into Allen’s hand. “Here, try it.”

Reluctantly, Allen took the proffered wand. His fingers, once again stained from the potions that he and Harry had been brewing, slid lovingly up and down the wand shaft. He felt the weight of it in his palm. Even though the wand was not his, it still felt so right in his hand. He swished it through the air and did levitated a coffee cup. It floated gently up and over to Harry’s waiting hands.

“Feels good?” Harry asked.

“You have no idea. It feels like I’ve taken my first breath of air in a very long time,”Allen said, tears glistening in his eyes.

“Let’s go to Diagon Alley and get you a wand of your own…my treat,” Harry beamed.

Draco sat at his desk with his solicitor signing his Last Will and Testament. His wife and children would be provided no matter what Severus decided to do with him. When he was finally alone, he stood at the window and watched his little girls chasing their cat in a very unfair game of hide and seek. The poor cat seemed to be getting the worse of it, but Draco couldn’t truly be upset seeing the girls giggle and laugh as they played. He would miss this most of all once Severus took his revenge. He closed his eyes trying to memorize their laugh, the way their hair flew about as they ran, the shine in their eyes. This is all he would have left of them once he became Severus’ possession.

“Draco, what’s wrong?” Hermione asked seeing the tears falling down his cheeks. She cuddled up next to him, her arms encircling his waist. Draco tucked her under his arm and held her fast.

“Nothing, my dear. I was just thinking how beautiful our daughters are and how lucky we are to have them. No matter what may happen, witch or squib, our daughters will always be perfect.”

“You really mean that, don’t you?” She stood on her tiptoes to kiss the side of his face.

“I always wondered why you doubted me,” Draco said, pulling Hermione closer. “I’ve told you from the moment of their birth and everyday since that they were perfect. Would I have been happy if they were witches? Of course, but they are who they are; a little of me and a whole lot of you. How could I not love them unconditionally?”

“I’m sorry. I always thought …” Hermione choked up.

“What, that I was ashamed of them? Not for one second.”

“I owe Harry and Mr. Raymond an apology,” Hermione laid her head against her husband’s chest.

“I doubt that either one of them will accept your apology. More than likely they will hex you. So if you don’t mind, I'd rather not have you put yourself in the line of fire. The girls need their mother,” Draco looked longingly at his daughters.

“They need both of us. I will not let you walk into the lion’s den alone, so to speak.”

“What are you talking about?” Draco acted naïve.

“We’ve been together for a long time and I know you well enough to know you would lie down and die for your family. I will not let you sacrifice yourself for my stupidity. I will go and talk with them, throw myself onto their mercy,” She said firmly.

“I’m not about to let my wife go by herself. We both will go and talk to Severus and Potter. Before we go, you must understand that we will abide by their decision. I have offered myself as chattel to Severus. If he accepts you will come home and take care of our daughters and forget about me. I’ll expect you to find someone else to love. Understood?”

“Expect in one hand and shit…” Hermione growled.

“Hermione…watch your mouth. You never know when the girls might walk in,” he gently chided.

“Harry and Snape don’t have a chance against the two of us. We’re undefeatable,” She hugged Draco hard.

Draco wished he was sure of the outcome as Hermione was.

Severus laughed as he popped into his dwelling at the end of the day, instead of walking home from the lab. To have his magic back was worth everything, even having Potter’s cock up his ass. Well, that wasn’t as much a hardship that he thought it would be. In fact he rather liked it. Every four days… perhaps he could talk Potter into every three days instead. He could always tell Harry that he felt his magic ebbing and that he needed to be penetrated. Being the Gryffindor that he is, Harry would actually believe him and want to do anything he could do to please him. He smiled…he was such a Slytherin.

Severus’s reverie was interrupted by a blood-curdling scream by his daughter. With wand drawn Severus took off towards the sound of his daughter’s cry.
He saw Hermione running as fast as she could towards him with Lily in her arms. In the distance, Draco was wrestling an animal, larger that himself, to the ground. Severus met up with Hermione and ordered her to take his daughter into the house. He kept running to help his godson. When he got close enough he recognized the creature that was attacking Draco as a Javalina, a very mean cousin to a warthog. The tusks were poisonous and very useful in numerous potions. Rather expensive ingredients that Severus would delight in finding if it wasn’t about to gore his godson.

With a wave of his wand the creature went flying. The Javalina stood, shook his head and scurried off to the underbrush that surrounded Severus’ home.

Draco was breathing hard and more than a little stunned when Severus offered his hand to help him off the ground.

“Now that you and my daughter are safe you can explain to me why the two of you are here? ” The bitterness dripped from his voice. Snape looked concerned for an instant at his Godson. “Are you hurt? Did the tusk scratch you?”

“No, if nothing else, Hagrid did teach me how poisonous the tusks were.” He brushed himself off and pulled himself together. “Perhaps we could go back to your cottage where my wife and I can apologize properly.”

“Mrs. Malfoy wishes to apologize? Let us not keep her waiting,” Severus long legs strode back to his bungalow. Draco was much slower nursing his wounds along the way.

When Severus and Draco returned they found Hermione still clutching Lily tightly in her arms. Lily wiggled to get free until Hermione let her go. Running to her father Severus picked up his daughter quickly checked to be sure she unharmed and carried her to her room and settled her for a short nap. He didn’t want her around during his ‘discussion’ with the Malfoys.

“Well?” Severus stood and stared sternly at his two visitors. Arms were cross over his chest. Draco was about to speak but Hermione placed her hand on his forearm to silence him.

“I got us in this mess. Let me try to see if I can fix it,” she whispered.

She took a step forward holding her head high. “Mr. Raymond I’m sorry.” Hermione paused taking a deep breath.

“That’s it? That’s all you have to say?” Severus snarled.

Annoyed, Hermione took her own cleansing breath before she continued.

“Of course not.” She snarled right back. “I was wrong. You have no idea how hard it is for me to admit that. I seldom am but when I am wrong it’s usually a major mistake and I have never made a bigger mistake that kidnapping your daughter and forcing you and Harry to…you know.”

“Fornicate I believe is the word you’re looking for Mrs. Malfoy.”

“Yes…um,” she cleared her voice. “There is nothing I can do to rectify my mistake. Merlin knows if I could I would take everything back. I finally realize,” she looked over her shoulder at Draco and smiled, “That our girls are perfect just the way they are, witch or not, and as long as we're together, our life is perfect. Please, I beg you, leave Draco alone. He had nothing to do with this fiasco. I am totally to blame.”

“Not totally I’m sure but a major player, do you not agree?” He replied sternly.

“Yes, I do. So if you plan on getting your revenge on someone please take it out on the person who has done the deed and not an innocent bystander,” she pleaded.

“Hermione!” Draco stepped in front of Hermione protecting her from Snape’s wrath.

“Draco you may step down. I do not plan on hurting either one of you. I will never forgive either of you for the pain and humiliation I had to endure, but today you saved my daughter from a horrible death. I can not ignore that. If you wish to redeem yourselves, then all I ask is that you never interfere in my life again. In fact if I never see either of you two again it would be too soon. Leave now. Go back to your daughters and leave me to mine.

Hermione had stepped out of the door before Draco turned to his Godfather. “Severus, I promise that I shall never interfere in your life again but the other…You are my Godfather and after all said and done I care for you dearly. I will not be denied having you in my life. It may take me a hundred years to make up for my past deeds but I plan on treating you as the precious gift that you are to me. I’ll also try not to be too annoying. I always knew I got on your nerves,” Draco smiled fondly at his Godfather, “It was half the fun.” Draco became deadly serious as he spoke, “When the time comes when you feel that it’s time to exact your revenge and I know one day you will. Come to me and leave my wife alone, please. Good day Professor.”

“Good day Mr. Malfoy,” Severus watched as Draco walked out of his life.

With his new wand tucked securely in the folds of a new black robe, courtesy of Harry Potter, Severus went back to the lab to work for the rest of the afternoon. They worked in companionable silence except to ruminate on what they could do to the Wizarding World to get even. There were subtle touches between them, and hot, lustful glances that left nothing to the imagination. There were a few snickers and a couple of thunderous belly laugh where tears of mirth fell freely. Each idea they came up with was more outlandish than the previous one.

It took a month of experiments and several more love-making sessions before Severus accidentally found the answer. During breakfast one morning, Severus was reading an old newspaper clipping, written right after the end of the second war that spoke of a bright flash that lit up the sky. Something struck a cord, something he read when he was at Hogwarts as a student.

“Damn,” he muttered to himself. “Why didn't I remembered this?”

Severus had ‘borrowed’ a book from the restricted area of the library that explained such phenomena. “What was the name of the book?”

He mumbled to himself as he started to pace the length of his kitchen. “Was it 'The True Stories…' no that wasn’t it. ‘The Untold Stories of the Wizarding World’, that was it! ”

When Dumbledore found Severus reading it, he snatched it from his hands, took fifty points from Slytherin, and gave Severus a month detention with Filch. The book was never returned to the restricted section of the library. Severus figured that the Headmaster must have kept it locked up in his private library.

“Da, what’s the matter?” Lily asked with a concern look on her face.

“Nothing is the matter,” He stroked his daughter’s hair as he placed a kiss on her forehead. “In fact, my precious flower, I think that we may be going home a lot sooner than I thought. Now, on your way, I have work to do," Severus said, watching his daughter as she skipped happily from the room.

“I have my revenge!” Severus smiled evilly. “And I don’t have to do anything but let nature take its course.”

Fire calling Minerva, he asked her to look for the book in Albus’s possessions and bring it straight away to his and Harry’s lab. By the time Severus walked into his lab, Minerva was already there the book firmly held to her chest. She was casually chatting with Harry, unaware that everything she held dear was about to be stripped away, much like they did to him so many years ago.

“Minerva, would you be so kind to arrange a meeting with Kingsley and whoever else you believe should be there. I have the answer to your problem.”

“Severus, you have a cure?” she asked, smiling.

“All I can say is the children will have their magic,” Severus stated. Minerva didn’t see the wicked smile that he gave her. She handed him the book that she was clutching to her chest and gave him a small peck on the cheek. With a pop, she was gone.

“Severus, what was that all about? We aren’t any closer to a cure than we were five months ago,” Harry said suspiciously.

Severus lifted the book triumphantly high in the air. “We have our revenge. Now I’m going to lean over the desk and you are going to show me just how much you appreciate me.”

Harry took Severus's hand as he led him to the desk. “I’ll be more than happy to show you how much you are appreciated. You won’t be able to sit for a week.”

“Promises, promises,” Severus pulled his young lover into his arms. “Is it to soon to tell you how I feel?”

“After,” Harry said. “Once everything is settled, you and I will talk of the future. Not now, not yet. Now let’s get you naked and while I pound into you, you can explain to me just how we got our revenge.”
