Chapter Eight
Any ideas where he might be?
The next morning Harry went downstairs to find the common room also as empty as the dorm. He didn't see Draco anywhere. Maybe he had went down to breakfast already? Harry doubted that Draco would have left without saying where he was going. It could be possible, but on the hand and he didn't know Draco that well. Harry decided to leave, forget all of the speculation and go to breakfast himself. If Draco wasn't there, then he would search for him.
When he stepped in the Great Hall, he saw that Draco wasn't there either. Biting his lip he made his way to the table.
"Good morning, Harry, my boy," Dumbledore greeted him warmly from the end of the table.
"Good morning to you, too, sir," he answered, smiling slightly.
"Is Mr. Malfoy still sleeping?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen him yet."
"Oh," Dumbledore raised his brows in wonderment. "I'm sure you'll see him soon enough."
Harry didn't answer. He filled his plate and started to eat, but worry still haunted his thoughts, even though the food was excellent, which would normally succeeded to distract him.
Throughout breakfast Dumbledore kept talking and gave Harry cryptic answers if Harry he tried to ask about something. The headmaster seemed to enjoy it, so Harry stopped asking any questions. The conversation hadn't dissolved the worry in his heart in the least. He bid good day to the headmaster and the table's other occupants, leaving the Great Hall in a hurry.
Maybe something had happened to Draco. He didn't want the wrath of Professor Snape upon himself so he figured that he had better find Draco soon.
He fetched his cloak and went outside to the school grounds look for him. He was about to go to the lake but something caught his eye on the way there. A peculiar blue light shone from the Quidditch pitch.
Curious and confused, he left to find out the source of it. When he reached the field, he couldn't believe his eyes. The whole place was filled with the blue light. It seemed to be some kind of barrier. It looked solid and he slowly reached out to touch it. It didn't give in at his touch, so it was a barrier! Getting excited, Harry wondered why and who had cast it. The thought of Draco missing filled his mind. He had no time to be wondering about some odd barriers, he had to find the Slytherin.
He turned to leave but stopped short when he saw Dumbledore standing behind him looking at the blue barrier.
"Professor Dumbledore," Harry said surprised.
"It's amazing isn't it?" Dumbledore asked as if Harry hadn't said anything.
"Sure it is." Harry shrugged.
"Touch it again, Harry."
"But why?" Harry asked in bewilderment glancing at the blue light.
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled. "You'll see." He winked at Harry and smiled warmly.
Harry faced the barrier and tentatively reached out again. It felt cool under his fingertips. Suddenly the colour changed into to a shade of green and his hand went through it. He stumbled forward in surprise. He crossed over to the other side of it and, once he was fully through, the color changed back to blue.
He looked around as he recovered from the shock and saw Draco standing at the middle of the pitch.
"Draco!" he exclaimed and carefully he made his way to him. Biting his lip he stepped in front of Draco to see that his eyes were closed.
Suddenly, Draco opened his eyes, looking straight at Harry. "Hello, Harry."
