To Faint and Fall

This chapter is different than it was going to be and it's different than I wanted it to be but apparently Draco and Hermione had something else in mind.

~~~
The sun was shining when Hermione woke to find herself alone in Draco’s bed. She reluctantly pulled back the covers and made her way to the door, but when she heard a bark and a laugh she went to his window. It was a sight to see. Draco and the dog the house elves had brought with them were in her backyard wrestling with a piece of slobbery rope. She beamed down and waved when Draco looked over at her. But that’s when the reality came back to her, the reality that Ron was dead, Severus Snape was alive, and her life was full of fear again. The world grew hazy around her and before a single tear could splash the ground, it went black.
Draco had woken earlier than usual, possibly due to the fact that they’d gone to sleep at around 7, which was long before Draco’s usual hour. He’d laid a gentle kiss to her forehead before pulling on a cotton T-shirt and sweat pants and exiting his current lodgings. He’d eaten breakfast with the house elves and given the puppy a few pieces of bacon. The sun had been shining strongly by that point and her yard looked so inviting, so he’d spirited the puppy away from the house elves, who were ever trying to spoil him rotten, for a game of tug-of-war. The moment Hermione reached the window he was aware of her presence. She radiated pieces of her into the very air she breathed. When her face paled he knew why, and when she’d fallen to the ground with a heavy thud, he ran faster than he ever had before.
“Hermione, love, please wake up. Please.” With a groan her eyes fluttered open and she immediately pressed a hand to her head, feeling the large bump.
“Ouch. That doesn’t feel good.”
“I’d imagine not.” His head dropped into his hands and he cried silently with relief. “I’ve never been scared like that, not really. Not even for my mother or myself. Don’t do that again, please never do that again.” She reached out to him from her place on his soft bed and rubbed a hand across his cheek, feeling his morning stubble. Letting him cry his silent tears she receded into the confines of her mind.
“We need to talk, I have questions for you.” With a sheepish look he nodded his head. He knew what she’d ask. “Why did you lie to me? Why did you tell me he was dead?”
“Snape hasn’t exactly been on rights with the Wizarding world for a while now, Hermione-”
“Not at rights with the law yes, but the Order and the Circle accepted him back into our ranks long ago! Couldn’t you trust me with that information?”
“It’s not as if it’s some life altering-”
“You’re wrong! It is life altering, he’s alive! That’s insane, that’s amazing. Why did you feel it necessary to fabricate such an elaborate lie? What else have you been lying to me about? How will I ever know?”
“Don’t make this bigger than it has to be.” Draco side, and shook his head in abandon. “What we have is beautiful, I may have lied about Snape but the things that are real, the things I told you about me and us and who I am they’re all true. Don’t block me from your life now, not now that I have you.” He fought to keep his voice level, to not clutch her to his body and never allow her to leave the graces of his arms. “We’re bonded. Forever more.”
“I couldn’t push you away if I tried, you’re a Slytherin, and too damn stubborn.”
“I’m stubborn? I’m stubborn? You, my lovely Gryffindor Princess, have stubborn down to a T.” She promptly swatted him on the arm. “Oy, that hurt! Jeez woman, lay off the steroids!”
“That’s it! You’ve now insulted me. All sexual privileges are henceforth and forever more revoked.”
“Oh, you think? You couldn’t last a day without me inside your sweet cunt.”
“You have such a way with words, Malfoy. Well I bet you ten galleons I can last longer without sex than you.”
“Ten? Nervous, Granger?”
“Fine. Fifty.” She sighed and stuck out her hand.
“Deal.” Draco replied, and clasped her hand in his own in a single vigorous shake. His heart beat faster when her eyes clouded, and he looked into them quizzically attempting to see through the beautiful honey into her soul, attempting to see her ailment. He watched when her stomach quivered slightly and gathered her slight form into his arms, carrying her quickly to the bed. He stroked along her quaking spine and feigning nonchalance Draco pulled his wand out of his pocket and muttered a quick spell. When the end glowed a soft blue, a grin flashed quickly onto his face. “Hermione we’re pregnant.”
“What?” She inclined her face to him and looked confusedly.
“We’re pregnant.”
“Meaning I’m with child.” She spoke so matter of factly that Draco almost laughed, but realizing it would be inappropriate he just continued to grin stupidly.
“Yep. We’re pregnant. And it’s a boy. Isn’t this great?”
“Yeah, great, we’ve been together for about two days and we’re pregnant. I thought women didn’t have symptoms until they were into like the first month.”
“Well, Granger, no one ever said you were normal.”
“Shut it, Malfoy.” Her eyes were fluttering precariously, and her face was pale with fatigue. He bent sweetly to press a kiss to her forehead before covering her with blankets.
“Sleep love, you’re living for two now.” When her eyes shut softly he retreated to a chair near the bed, watching intently as his lover and future child slept silently.
