The Meeting

Five Years Later

“Daddy, catch me!” Lilly shouted to Draco as she jumped off the top step and threw herself into her fathers waiting arms.

“Lilly!” Draco said laughing. “You need to wait until I am ready to catch you. You could have fallen and gotten hurt!”

“No I wouldn’t! You won’t let me get hurt!” she giggled wrapping her arms around her father’s neck.

Draco pulled her tight against his chest and breathed in the clean scent of his beloved daughter. He never knew that he could love someone so completely and unconditionally as he did his daughter.

“You’re right, darling, I will always protect you!” he said kissing her pale blond head. She had his blond hair and most of his features, but she had Harry’s startling green eyes. Draco’s heart ached every time he looked into their green depts. It had been five years since he had seen his soul mate and his heart ached for him.

“Daddy, are we really going on an airplane?”

Draco smiled. “Yes love, we are really going on an airplane.” Draco had spent the four years since his daughter’s birth living the part of a Muggle. He hated to give up magic but he knew that his magical signature was detectible and he didn’t want anyone to find him. The only one from the magical world he had kept in touch with was his godfather.

“I am so excited! Nellie has gotten to go on an airplane but not me!” she said.

“Well now you will. Then when we come back home again you can tell her all about it.”

“And I get to wear a pretty dress for the wedding!” she squealed.

Draco snorted at that. Severus was finally getting married. He had promised his godfather that if he kept the ceremony quiet and simple that he would return for it. He promised that nobody was invited that would be dangerous to him. It was Draco’s first trip home in five years. He remembered when Severus had apparated here to tell him about it.

“I am getting married, Draco.”

Draco laughed until he saw the serious expression on his godfathers face. “Seriously?”

“Yes. I would like for you to be there.”

“Oh Sev, you know that I can’t go back to England. It’s still not safe.”

“Most of the former death eaters have been captured and sent to Azkaban. There are very few left, and the ones that are left are deep in hiding and won’t be worried about you.”

Draco sighed. “Who’s the lucky witch?”

“Actually, she is a Muggle.”

Draco was shocked. “You are marrying a Muggle?”

“I met her at a Muggle herb store. It sell the freshest cilantro and I needed it for a potion.”

“Wow! I never thought I would see the day that you would marry, let alone a Muggle.”

Severus finally smiled. “She keeps me guessing. For me, that is a lot.”

“What’s her name?”

“Adrienne. She has beautiful red hair and deep amber eyes. She has a spattering of freckles across her nose and beautiful pale skin. She is tall and slender and I love the way she smiles.”

Draco laughed. “You must be in love. I’ve never heard you wax it on so thick about the way a woman looks!”

Severus blushed. “She even knows that I am a Wizard and that there is a chance our children will be magical.”

“She doesn’t care?”

“She loves me. She said that being magical is who I am and if our children turn out to be that way she would love them all the more for it.”

Draco smiled as he thought about his godfather in love. “So will it be a Muggle ceremony then?

Severus nodded. “That is why I know you will be safe there. I have invited a few people from Hogwarts, but they would never reveal your secret.”

“McGonagall and Madame Pomfrey?” he guessed.

“Yes.”

“Alright, Sev, we’ll come. When is it?”

“February 14th.”

Draco had to bit his tongue to keep from laughing at the look of disgust on his godfathers face. He knew that Severus hated any and everything to do with Valentines Day. “Let me guess, Adrienne chose?”

“Yes. She said it would be romantic.”

“I’ll bet,” he said snickering.

“I would like you to be my best man.”

“I would be honored! When do you need me there?”

“I would think around the seventh would be fine.”

“Alright, I’ll be there.”

Now Draco was having doubts. He had made arrangements to stay in a Muggle hotel in London. He hadn’t been in touch with anyone in years and knew that there was a very slim chance that anyone from the Wizarding world would be in Muggle London, but he was still feeling ambivalent about going. He hoped that this wasn’t going to be a mistake.

He thought about applying glamour, but then he would have to use his wand and then he would be traceable. Not to mention, he had never told his daughter about the magical world and she would wonder why her father had all of the sudden looked different.

“Well my dear, are you ready to go?”

“Oh yes, Daddy! I’m so ‘cited!” she said grinning.

“Then I guess we had better get going so that we don’t miss our plane.”

“I can’t believe I let you talk me into coming back to England!” Harry said nervously looking around.

“Honestly, Harry. We’ve been gone for five years. Nobody is going to recognize you in Muggle London. We will be in and out and nobody will be the wiser.”

“I hope you’re right.” He glanced down to the sleeping boy he held against his shoulder. Sirius was his father’s son with the exception of the silver eyes. He had big round silver eyes just like Draco.

Harry still thought of Draco often. Harry knew that he hadn’t been seen in England since graduation and that Malfoy Senior had sent Aurors all over the world trying to find his heir. It was like he had fallen off the planet somewhere. After all this time Malfoy had finally stopped looking and given his son up for dead. Rumor was that Lucius spent all of his time sitting in his manor with a bottle of firewhiskey.

Harry almost felt sorry for the man. Almost, but not quite. He had even at one point thought about letting him know about Sirius but then thought better. It was because of him that they had to hide and letting him know that he had a grandson would open a whole bucket of worms he didn’t want to open.

“I promise everything will be fine, Harry. We will go to Adrienne’s wedding and then return home. If she hadn’t of been my favorite cousin I wouldn’t have came, but she asked me to be the brides maid and I couldn’t turn her down.”

“I know. I just have this feeling that Sirius and I should have stayed home. Are you going to see Ron while we’re here?”

“No. I didn’t tell anyone that I was coming. My Muggle family knows of course, but I couldn’t risk anyone finding out about you.”

Harry laughed. “I feel like I am your dirty little secret.”

“I just want you and Sirius to be safe. The two of you mean more to me than anything else in this world!”

Harry pulled her tight against him for a hug. “I love you to, Mione. Sometimes I think that you are giving up way to much for us though.”

“What am I giving up? I have finally finished medical school. I have another year of residency, and then I will return to England to finish my magical training to be a healer. I have done exactly what I have set out to do.”

“We’ll miss you when you go.”

“You know, Harry. It’s probably safe for you to return now. Ron said that they have captured almost all the death eaters. The few that are left are suspected to have left the country. Lucius hasn’t left his manor in years so he wouldn’t bother you.”

“I wonder what happened to Draco. Its strange that he hasn’t been home since graduation.”

“Do you think he’s dead?”

Harry shook his head. “No. I would know if he was. It’s like we’re connected on some level. I just think that I would know.”

“Well, we might as well get checked into the hotel. If you don’t wake Sirius up soon, he’ll be up bouncing off the walls all night.”

Harry laughed at this. “He does get a bit wound up doesn’t he?”

“Just a bit,” she said laughing.

“We have a reservation for two rooms. Hermione Granger and Harry Black,” he said to the check in clerk. He hadn’t gone by Potter since he left England.

“Credit card, sir?”

Harry tried to reach for his wallet but ended up having to set a just waking up Sirius down to reach it. “Stand here for a second, buddy.” He said to his son.

Sirius rubbed his eyes and looked around. In the middle of the lobby was a huge fountain. He let go of his father’s hand and walked to it. He peeked over the edge and saw coins littering the bottom.

“My daddy said those coins are wishes,” a blond girl about his age said.

“What kind of wishes?” he demanded.

“All kinds. Don’t you know what a wish is?”

“How can a wish be rusted coins?”

“People pay for the wishes, silly. You make a wish and throw the coin in to pay for it.”

“My dad told me that wishes and dreams were free.” Sirius said.

“My dad told me that nothing in life was free,” she said.

About that time both father’s realized that their off spring was missing. Both children turned when they heard their names.

Harry walked to the fountain to collect his child. “Sirius, I told you to stand by my side!” he said.

“Lilly! Haven’t you been told not to wonder away?” Draco demanded.

Harry looked up startled. That was a voice he would know anywhere.
“Draco!” he said in shock.

“Harry!” Draco whispered.
