Acceptance
Ginny looked at the floor for a few minutes, then up to where Hermione was staring out the window.
“I’m going to do it Hermione. Blaise is a fine man outside being one of the Dark Lord’s servants, and now that Harry is out of the picture I couldn’t do better.” Ginny said.
“It is the best thing Ginny. You realize that with my help the Dark Lord is going to win right? I’m not going to take any mercy on those two now.” Hermione said.
“That is part of the reasoning behind my decision. We are safer with Draco and Blaise, and they are the only chance we have now for a decent life.” Ginny said.
Just then, Narcissa entered the room with two female house elves. She looked the two girls up and down critically, and motioned for them to turn around. She stared as they did, and nodded.
“Pincey you take Ginny’s measurements while Kitty fixes her nails. I shall tame Hermione’s hair and speak with her as I do so.” Narcissa said. “Well, go on then, get started!” with that the two elves took Ginny to a corner of the room and began working. Narcissa walked Hermione over to the vanity and made her sit. She began brushing her hair as she talked.
“You must know the proper etiquette for the dinner tonight. Lord Voldemort will be there and although he knows that you were only discovered today, we must give some semblance of grace and poise.” Narcissa said.
“Yes Ma’am.” Hermione said. Narcissa winced.
“No girl. First off, you must address every woman in the room as my lady. Moreover, all the men are my lord. You must emphasize it when speaking to or of Lord Voldemort, and add his name at the end every time.” Narcissa said, “Things will change and be more complicated once you are officially engaged to Draco, and then again when you are married to him, but this will do for tonight. You will sit at Draco’s right, for he is at Voldemort’s right, and you are under his protection. Do not speak unless spoken to, and avoid eye contact. Obey every command given to you by either Draco or the Dark Lord. Do not obey anyone else unless Draco or the Dark Lord says to. Sit up straight and eat only after the Dark Lord has. Draco will guide you through everything else. Any questions?”
“No, I think I got it all. My hair looks amazing, thank you.” Hermione said. Her hair was still down and long, but her curls were smooth and silky and pinned back by two silver dragon barrettes.
“Well, now that I am done with your hair, I suppose we should do something about your clothing. That dress is fine for around the manor I suppose, but not for supper. Pincey! Kitty! Have you finished with miss Weasley yet?” Narcissa said.
“Yes Mistress, Pincey and Kitty have finished.” Pincey answered.
“Very well, I want you to get the carriage ready. We leave for the dressmaker at once.” She said.
“We are going to have brand new dresses made just for tonight?” Hermione asked.
“Silly girl, Madame Trinistra has several dinner appropriate dresses already made for emergency needs such as this. We merely need to select one for you each and have the necessary alterations made. With her measurements for the alterations she will make you a wardrobe appropriate for one of your new station.”
