Forbidden Love

Chapter Eight

Hermione spent the next few days at St Mugo's as much as she could.She refused to leave Ron's side.She set up a cot in his room,but barely used it.Mostly she sat on his bed with him and talked to him.Maybe somehow he'd hear her and wake up.

The rest of the family came in evryday to visit.Molly brought clothes for Hermione as well as food.Ginny came in as much as she could,everytime fighting back tears at the sight of her practically lifeless brother.Arthur worked extra time at the ministry,questioning aurours about curses.Harry brought books on deadly curses with each visit for Hermione to read,but still they'd found nothing.The Order began to hold meetings nearly everyday to try and help Ron.Hermione never participated in these,but members often informed her on everything they'd discussed.The more they met,the more certain everyone was that Ron would not survive.

Ron being hurt was really taking a number on Hermione.She hardly slept and her appetite was decreasing.Molly often had to force feed her.

"You must think of the baby." Molly would say as she shovelled food into the younger woman's mouth.

"I know,but I just can't,not with Ron like this." Hermione always replied,but allowed Molly to feed her.She just couldn't imagine bringing a baby into the world with it's father's life dangling by a string.

Hermione often spent her nights at the hospital crying and praying.She needed Ron to recover.She just couldn't picture life without him.He was the one,he couldn't just leave her like this.About a week after Ron was admitted,Hermione began to become angry with her fiancé.

"How could you do this to me?" She sobbed. "You said you wanted to be with me forever,you can't just go back on that!" She pounded her fists on his chests as the tears flowed freely.

"We're supposed to be getting married! We're supposed to have a baby and raise it together!" She shouted at his still form. "You can't just bloody forget all that and lay here dying!

"Please,Ron my love,don't leave me like this.I can't do this all without you.Please,just wake up.I can't live without you." Hermione repeated this over and over again as she cried herself to sleep.

A few hours later there was a soft knock at the door.Thinking it was the nurse,Hermione muttered of them to come in then took a seat in a chair next to the bed.She was surprised to see Molly in the doorway with a tray of food.

"How are you doing,dear?" She asked in a concerned voice.

"How do you think I'm doing?" Hermione asked,the hospital making her become bitter.Molly simply smoothed the tear soaked hair from her face and handed her the tray.

"Anything new?" Hermione asked,referring to the Order meeting from the day before.

"As a matter of fact,yes," Molly said causing Hermione to perk up. "We have all been discussing it and we've come to the conclusion that we will never be able to figure out a curse that only Death Eaters would know about."

"Oh that's what I want to hear,that there's no hope." Hermione said,becoming angry again.How dare Molly get her hopes up then crush them.

"That's not what I said," Hermione gave her a confused look and was just about to argue when she continued. "As you know,the curse Ron was hit with is not known to those of the lights.Well,at least those who have always been on the light side." Hermione knew where this was going and began to object but Molly shushed her. "Someone has volunteered to asisst us in searching for the curse.He was once a Death Eater and his father was a very well known follower os You-Know-Who-"

"No,please Molly,not Malfoy!" Hermione pleaded.She already had enough to worrk about,she didn't need that foul cockroach trying to help her.No matter what anyone said,some people just didn't deserve to be forgiven,and Malfoy was a prime example of that.

"I'm sorry Hermione,but we don't have any other choices.His father documented every curse invented by Death Eaters.It's the only chance we have."

"But he tried to kill Dumbledore!" She argued.Was the whole world going mad?

"Yes but he only tried because of his father.Hermione,you have to trust us.It's the only way we can save Ron." Hermione broke down,tears flowing down her cheeks.

"There has to be another solution." Hermione sobbed,more to convince herself then anything else.

"We tried to find another,but there isn't.Malfoy has renounced his ways and done nothing to prove us otherwise.If you love Ron like I know you do,you will work along side Malfoy and find the curse." Molly told her,her voice sounding desperate.Hermione looked up into the older woman's face.She'd never thought about how much this must be affecting her,to have one of her children near death and not knowing how to save him.

"Okay,fine.I'll do it.Just tell me how." Hermione said,defeated.

"Well,we've already talked with him.His father kept all his documents locked away in Malfoy Manor.He says he has discovered where they are and how to get to them.All you would have to do is go to Malfoy Manor and look over the documents." She nodded in response,thinking it best not to object.If it would save Ron,she'd do it.

"When do we start?" She asked.

"As soon as possible,we don't know how much longer Ron has." Molly told her.Hermione just hoped she had enough time.

I know,I said Draco would be in this chapter and I'm sorry.I just had to quickly write this,I have some errands to run and Xmas shopping to do.If I get more reviews I just might find some more time today to update again and Draco will deffinately be in the next chapter.Thnxx goes out to:
