Chapter 7

November came barreling through with grey skies, wind, and chilling rain. Hermione and Anakin grew closer and learned more about one another. They also discovered that Anakin could do wandless magic, and was quite good at brewing potions. So now, during Potions, Anakin was right beside Hermione brewing the potions as well.

“What are we going to do once Palpatine is captured or destroyed? I mean, the Council won’t permit you to remain here.” Hermione asked as they sat on the carpeted floor in front of the fireplace in their sitting room.

“I don’t know. Maybe, you could return to Coruacant with me. I mean, There are plenty of things for you to do there. Then at least we could be together.” Anakin answered.

Hermione just leaned deeper into his embrace. She was terrified. Something in her gut was telling her that Anakin wouldn’t be here come the summer. That Palpatine would be gone and Voldemort defeated by June. She shivered involuntarily.

“Something wrong Hermione?” He asked.

“My feelings are telling me that come June, you will return to Coruacant. I don’t think I could bear it if you left.” She answered as tears formed in the corners of her eyes.

“Sshh. Don’t worry. Things will work out. I can feel that. For now, let us just enjoy our time here and now.” He whispered as he held her close.

“Master, I have sensed that the time to strike is near the holiday these humans call Christmas.” Darth Maul said.

“I agree. When you get her, bring her here. I want to see her face when she dies.” Palpatine instructed.

“Yes Master. What of Skywalker? What if he interferes?” Maul questioned.

“Kill him. He is of no concern to me anymore.” Palpatine answered.

Maul nodded. Palpatine turned and headed off to meet with Voldemort. To pull off the attack, this time he would need the wizard’s help. He entered the throne room and found Voldemort meeting with a group of Death Eaters.

“So, you’re sure that Severus has betrayed us?” Voldemort asked.

“Yes my Lord. My daughter Pansy has seen him with the mudblood Granger and that Jedi. She overheard him and Granger having a friendly conversation in his classroom after everyone had left the class.” Dean Parkinson answered.

“I see. Then he must be punished.” Voldemort hissed.

“I may be able to help you out there.” Palpatine said as he approached.

“How?” Voldemort asked.

“At Christmas, my apprentice will be going to this Hogwarts to capture Hermione Granger. Why not send one or two of your men along. While Darth Maul is taking care of Skywalker and Granger, your men can take care of this Severus Snape.” Palpatine answered.

“That sounds like a plan. It will be done.” Voldemort said.

Anakin stood at the sitting room window. It was well after midnight. He had been awakened by a dream. One that foretold of Severus’s death. He stood there debating whether to go down to the dungeons and tell him, or wait till morning.

“Anakin?” Hermione asked as she entered the sitting room.

“Hermione, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.” He said.

“You didn’t. Something wrong?” She asked.

“I had a dream. One where I saw Severus being killed. The last time I had a dream like this, it came true.” He answered.

“You should tell him Anakin. I’ll go with you.” She said.

“Right now?” He questioned.

“He needs to know. Did you see who it was that killed him?” She replied.

“A man named Lucius and a woman he called Bellatrix.” He answered.

“Oh no. We have to go.” She said.

She ran back to her room, grabbed her wand and dressing gown, grabbed Anakin’s hand, then the two of them took off running toward Severus’s chambers. They skidded to a stop in front of Severus’s door. Hermione began pounding on the door. A few minutes later, Severus opened it in surprise.

“Hermione? Anakin? What is the meaning of this?” Severus asked.

“We need to come in. Please.” Hermione answered.

Severus stepped aside and let them in. Once in his study, Anakin told him of his dream. Severus stood up and began pacing. He finally stopped and faced the pair. His eyes locked with Hermione’s, both knowing what Anakin’s dream meant.

“What is it?” Anakin asked.

“It seems that my days as a spy for the Order are over. Albus and I have been expecting this for some time. Did you see about when this would happen?” Severus answered.

“I saw a tree decorated with ribbons and shiny glass balls. I don’t know if that means anything.” Anakin replied.

“Christmas. That’s not much time. What do we do Severus?” Hermione asked.

“I will talk to Albus in the morning. If Voldemort is planning to kill me then, you can bet that Palpatine, or whatever he’s called, will be planning something as well.” Severus answered.

“He’s right.” Anakin agreed.

“I suggest you both go on back to bed. Tomorrow, we can all meet and talk this over with Albus and go from there.” Severus suggested.

Hermione and Anakin nodded. They bid Severus good night and left the study. They returned to their room. Hermione took hold of Anakin’s hand and led him toward her bedroom.

“Tonight, you’re staying with me.” She said with a smile.

“Yes milady.” He chuckled.

They entered her room and closed the door behind them. The couple made love till dawn. Both feeling the tension of Anakin’s dream and what it could mean, washed from their minds for the time being.
