* Author’s Note * - I am really glad you guys are enjoying this and finding it fun. I feel I have done my job so far, thanks. Thanks for all of the reviews, especially to Gracie’s. I appreciate and respect your insights. Reviews really mean more to me than you know, even if this story isn’t my best and that I really didn’t put much into it. It was mostly just a challenge from a friend that took two days to write (back in the very beginning of January). I also don’t want it to come across as pure crap. I do want it to be taken seriously as far as the storytelling and grammar goes, that is why I say constructive criticism is always more than welcome. It’s important to know how I did. As long as it is done nicely, there is no need to be harsh or insulting. There is a difference. The story plot however, is just something fun. I don’t want it to be completely canon. (That is what I find fun about fanfiction, it doesn’t have to be.)

Please keep in mind this is for fun, a little AU and the characterization is what it is, in or out I don’t really care. This was a challenge from a friend and I hope I do not disappoint. Again, thank you to all who have reviewed, they were all wonderful, really. I am glad no one freaked out telling me how bad I did with the girl on girl thing, I was very nervous about that. Please keep reviewing. I do love it. Like I have said before, it is encouraging to know how I did. I do not like to waste time or space. If you want me to email you when I update let me know. Thanks!!

Also a quick thanks to my new beta who has a lot of work ahead of him. Also he wants it known that he is not responsible for the beta work for the first six chapters (lol) although he is going to revise them. My old beta no longer has the extra time and I was sort of sad at first. I can’t blame her it has been months and it is the kid’s summer vacation. Perhaps this worked out for the best. :) Enjoy!

Chapter Eight
Wet

The following day Draco Malfoy seemed to have returned to his old ways towards everyone, especially Hermione.

Hermione was quite surprised by it though Ron and Harry expected it.

“I knew it!” Ron exclaimed.

“What’s that Ron?” Hermione asked as they walked down to the Great Hall for lunch.

“I knew that Malfoy is a foul git through and through. He could hide his true self for only so long,” Ron answered.

“It’s true Hermione. I even think keeping it in for so long has taken its toll. He’s worse than ever,” Harry added.

“I have never seem him this bad. He is absolutely dreadful,” Said Ron.

“I wonder if anything is wrong. I mean I thought…” Hermione began.

“Thought that what, Malfoy’s changed? That he was misunderstood? Please. He is who he is, a proper pompous ass and nothing more,” Ron stated.

“Think about it Hermione, he will always be Malfoy,” Harry added.

“I guess,” Hermione mumbled.

After lunch Hermione, Harry and Ron weren’t the only ones who experienced the unpleasantness of Draco Malfoy. Draco was snapping at Pansy and everyone else all day. Finally Pansy had had enough as they walked down to Care of Magical Creatures, their last class of the day.

“Draco, what is your problem?” Pansy asked as they made their way down the hill.

“Nothing’s the matter Pansy!” Draco snapped quietly at her.

“Really? Well your attitude sure says differently.”

“Where’s Milton? You know the guy you’re going to marry.”

“Milton will be a few minutes late, he had something to do. Draco, are you upset about what happened last night?”

“Last night? Oh yeah, last night. Isn’t that when you and Hermione shagged each other?”

“It was experimenting, nothing more. It was just for fun and didn’t mean a thing to her. It’s no big deal. Why do you care so much anyway?”

“I don’t! I just didn’t realize she was so easy.”

“She is not easy. She was just curious, that’s all.”

“Oh really? So you took advantage of her curiosity?”

“No. Look,” They halted, as other students passed by them continuing to their destination, “don’t make a bigger deal of this than it is. She doesn’t like me like that. We are just friends.”

“But you sure enjoyed it didn’t you?” He stated as they continued to walk again.

“I was in my happy place,” Pansy said with a dreamy smile.

“I bet you were,” Draco sneered.

“You look tired. Did you get any sleep last night? Is that why you are such an ass today or is it something else? Is this what is really bothering you?”

“No I didn’t get much sleep last night. Nothing is bothering me.”

“Oh really? Well you could have fooled me.”

“No, Granger fooled around with you remember?”

“You know what Draco? Just get over it and stop making it into something it’s not alright?! I wish it were more, for my sake, but it’s not. It can’t be!” She continued more quietly. “She doesn’t see me in that way. She doesn’t feel that way about me. She doesn’t even know how I really feel. After yesterday’s events between those two Gryffindor bints she was wondering what the big deal was, so I showed her. Although she had a good time, not as good as me obviously, she’s still as straight as the word itself. So, get… over… it,” She finished as they arrived right outside of Hagrid’s hut for class.

Draco looked at her for a moment then noticed Hermione and her friends arrive. He glared at Hermione earning him a raised eyebrow. Hermione then looked over to Pansy who gave a smile and a small wave.

When Draco looked away Hermione mouthed, “What’s with him?” Pansy shrugged then yawned symbolizing that he was tired. Hermione nodded uncertainly.

Class started and Milton joined them.

“So what did I miss?” Milton asked.

“Nothing. Even if you missed it completely you would still have missed nothing,” Draco said loud enough for everyone one to hear, even Hagrid. Hagrid just ignored him and continued his talk on unicorns.

After a few minutes of the discussion Hagrid brought out a unicorn named Azul causing all the girls to gasp in pleasure.

“Hagrid, how were you able to get a unicorn. He’s beautiful,” Hermione asked.

“The ministry cleared it o’course. I can on’y have em here fer the day though I’d love ter keep em. He is indeed a lovely creature,” Hagrid answered. Draco rolled his eyes.

“Who bloody cares? ‘Oh a unicorn how pretty!’ Please, unicorns are for girls. What are they good for anyway? They’re just horses with a horn on their heads, nothing special,” Draco complained causing a few boys to chuckle. This angered Hagrid.

“Nothin’ special!? Nothin’ special? Why unicorns are very special creatures. The purest there is. Their blood alone can prolong a life, a cursed life it may be, but life it gives no less,” Hagrid argued.

“I heard that You-know-who used it to keep living, to carry on,” A boy voiced. Draco remembered that part from his first year when he had detention with Harry and the happy golden crew. He had seen the unicorn and the hooded figure that was feasting on it. He remembered that the reason they went out there was to look for the wounded unicorn and the beast that had injured it. He shivered at the horrific memory as it had indeed frightened him.

“So what? You can’t even use it?” Draco continued. This caused Hermione to argue about the wonderful ways that unicorns contribute to the magical world. Azul was beginning to become upset by the raised voices so Hagrid took him back to his hut so he could relax.

“Magical uses? Whatever Granger… what would you know about magical uses? The only use you’re for is pure annoyance. Funny… it’s the only purity you’ll ever have. What’s magical is the fact that no teacher has used a spell to shut you up permanently! Though I’m sure that they felt tempted to do so,” Draco bit.

“You have no appreciation of anything but yourself!” She angrily shot back.

“Well, you certainly aren’t anything I appreciate!” He yelled. Harry put his arm out keeping Ron from entering Hermione’s argument. Ron looked at him confused.

“I think we should let her handle it for now. If it gets out of hand we can step in. She’s Head Girl and it wouldn’t look good for her if we just jumped in there,” Harry whispered. Ron nodded reluctantly.

They shouted for another couple of minutes neither realizing that Hagrid had come back. Finally Hagrid raised his voice getting everyone’s full attention.

“All right all of ya’s class is over. Some very interestin’ points and views made. We’ll continue this discussion during tha next class, maybe when things have calmed down a bit. Although, Azul won’t be here,” Hagrid said disappointed at the last part.

“Oh that’s too bad,” Draco mocked just loud enough for the students to hear. Hermione shot him a glare. Hagrid had already headed back to Azul.

The class started to walk back towards the castle. But Draco had other plans.

“You think you’re so great don’t ya, Granger?” Draco then switched his voice to a higher octave to imitate her. “I am so much better than everyone. I know this and that. Blah blah blah…”

“Whatever Malfoy. Do everyone a favor and go away. I got better things to do than to do whatever it is that we’re doing,” Hermione said flatly before walking away from him. He had been like this to everyone, especially her all day. She had had enough.

“What’s the matter? You can’t stay? You can’t handle it?”

“What is your problem Malfoy?!” Hermione yelled turning around.

“Maybe you are… Mudblood!” Draco snapped making the other students gasp and a few whistle like sounds emerged, much like the sounds of a falling bomb.

“Oh here we go,” Ron whispered towards Harry.

Hermione clenched her fists and walked toward him briskly stopping only a foot or two from him.

“What did you say… Malfoy?” She gritted.

“You heard me … Mudblood,” He said the last word quickly but not quietly.

“Well, have a problem with this!” She yelled as she pushed him into the lake causing his books to fall from his arms and to the ground.

Draco fell backwards into the lake getting wrapped up in his cloak as he thrashed around.

“I’m drowning! I’m drowning! Save me!” Draco yelled trying to detangle himself from his confines. His friends just stood there and watched. Not one attempt was made to help him.

“Malfoy, try standing up,” Hermione instructed trying to suppress a laugh. Right before she walked away she turned back to him. “Oh and you really should respect your superiors.” She said as she pulled at the collar of her cloak.

Hermione laughed and walked away after seeing the look on his face as he stood up dripping with water and seething with anger. The lake’s waters only came up to his mid-thighs.

“It’s pathetic really,” Ron whispered to Harry at the site of Draco.

“He always has been,” Harry added.

Draco stood there momentarily fuming after being made a complete fool of even if he brought it upon himself. He then noticed something right on the edge of the shore. He didn’t even think twice about it as he moved toward them.

Hermione walked into the school feeling a mixture of pride and disappointment. She didn’t regret pushing him into the water, in fact she was quite proud of herself for it. But she was disappointed because she thought they had moved on from all that. She guessed she was wrong.

Before she had an opportunity to reflect on the reason his attitude had changed a very large sum of water splashed against her back, over and around her body sending cold shockwaves through her.

“Haaaooo,” She breathed shocked.

She turned around slowly only to get the same treatment from the front. She was now dripping and every bit of her was sopping wet. Other students who were on their way to their rooms now stood rooted to the scene much like the students outside had been.

Hermione opened her eyes to see one very pleased Draco Malfoy smirking in her direction. Her fists clinched tighter than ever. She stormed up to him shaking with furry.

“20 points from SLYTHERIN!” She bellowed. He only smiled bigger. Which both confused and infuriated her.

“Mudblood,” He said flatly.

She felt as if she was going to explode right there in front of everyone.

“30 points from Slytherin and two weeks detention, Mr. Mal-foy,” She bit out and turned toward the stairs before he said anything else. He bent down to pick up his books and followed her up the stairs.

She stormed up the stairs and he followed both dripping puddles as they left the stunned audience behind watching after them.

“Go away Malfoy,” Hermione said anger lacing her voice as she continued to storm down the hall to her room.

“No,” He said childishly.

Her eye began to twitch.

“Go. Away. Now!”

“Don’t feel like it”

“You are so childish.”

“So,you’re…”

“Unless you want more detention and more points taken away I’d advise against your next comment.”

“You don’t know what I was going to say.”

“I don’t need to… whatever, okay Malfoy? Just go away.”

“What if I don’t wanna?”

“Spoken like a true Malfoy!”

“Spoken like a true dirty…” He didn’t finish.

“A true dirty what Malfoy?” She asked turning around as they both stopped at the entrance of her common room.

“Nothing.”

“Enlighten me,” She stood there waiting for him to continue. When he only met her angry stare she said her password and stepped into the room. He followed.

“Malfoy, just go away!” She stopped before heading into her room taking off her wet cloak and jumper.

“I’m not here for you. There are people in the world other than you Granger.”

“Oh and you’re one to talk!”

“You know what!”

“What?”

“You…”

“Me, what? What is it? What is it that bothers you about me so much? Is it because I’m just so dir-ty?” She said mockingly while wiggling herself. “It can’t be just about the blood so what is it? Tell me what it is?” Hermione said keeping her hands on her hips and waiting for an answer.

“You know what? Whatever!”

“Whatever,” She repeated rolling her eyes.

“Fine!”

“Fine,” She shrugged her shoulders still staring at him.

“What?!”

“What?” She countered giving him a confused look.

“Geez!”

“Well?”

“What!?”

“Nothing,” She said annoyed.

“Whatever!”

“Whatever.”

“Stop that!”

“Stop what?”

“That!”

“Fine, whatever… geez,” She said taking a deep tired breath and leting it out sharply.

“Fuck it all,” He slammed his books to the ground. She looked at him in shock. He lunged toward her pulling her toward his equally wet body and pressing her against it. His lips crashed down upon hers.

After only just a moment of realization of what was happening she met him full force. Their hands were all over each other pulling and yanking at the other’s clothing. He lifted her up having her straddle his hips as he moved backward toward the couch.

Her skin was still very wet and slippery as he tried to keep a grip on her as he moved. He bumped into the back of the couch and lost balance sending them toppling over the edge on to the cushions and rolling off onto the floor. They paid no mind.

He rolled on top of her lying between her thighs. He ran his hands up her legs enjoying the coolness of her damp skin. He ran a finger along the rim of her knickers causing her to jolt as she moaned into his mouth. He smiled proudly.

They froze at the sound of two voices right outside of the room. They jumped up trying to tidy themselves up.

Pansy and Milton walked into the room and stopped in mid conversation. The sight before them, made them stop in their tracks.

There was Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger standing in the middle of the common room both soaked head to toe. Clothes were all in disarray and their hair was all disheveled. But what made their eyebrows rise was the way they were panting and looking a bit jumpy, almost as if they had walked in on something.

Pansy and Milton both knew how Draco had gotten wet but didn’t realize how Hermione had gotten to be in the same predicament.

“Ah the buckets and the big water puddle,” Milton said.

“Oh,” Was all Pansy was able to say.

After a moment more of awkward silence Hermione spoke up.

“I’ve got to go. I have… things,” She said as she picked up her stuff and headed back out of the common room.

Pansy and Milton turned back toward Draco who was still standing uncomfortably. He quickly shook it off.

“I’ve got to go,” He said heading toward the door.

“Wait, what just happened?” Pansy asked stopping Draco.

“Don’t worry about it. It was nothing,” Draco replied starting toward the door again, only to be stopped once more.

“It didn’t look like nothing,” Pansy stated putting her hands on her hips.

“I said don’t worry about it!” Draco snapped.

“Why can’t you just admit it?” Pansy demanded.

“Admit what Pansy? There’s nothing to admit.”

“Admit that you like her, a lot.”

“Whatever Pansy.”

“Just tell her, Draco. Tell the truth.”

“The truth? Pansy you’re one to talk. I’m out of here,” Draco said before he stormed out of the Head’s common room.

Pansy turned back towards a very confused Milton.

“The truth? What was that about?” Milton asked. Pansy looked at the floor. “Pansy, is everything okay?” Pansy looked back up nervously.

“Milton…” Pansy began…
