Chapter 8: Shocking News

The week after Christmas several stories were printed in the Quibbler. When the edition hit the stands, the reactions were overwhelmingly positive, except for one particular old man… and a redheaded family!

Boy Who Lived Secretly Married
By Lysander Lovegood

This reporter has finally been given permission to tell of the bonding of Harry James Potter with Lucius Dominic Malfoy.

Mr. Malfoy’s son, Draco told this reporter that, after six months of courting, his father had proposed to the Boy Who Lived in an upscale eatery in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, where the younger wizard had been studying at the time.

The bonding was celebrated in the chapel of the Wizarding University of Salem on July 1st, 2000. Attending the couple were Professor Remus Lupin, standing in for the deceased James Potter; Draco Malfoy and Susan Bones as Mr. Malfoy’s witnesses; and Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood as Mr. Potter’s witnesses.

Guests were University professors and staff, as well as intimate friends, former students at Hogwarts.

The couple spent two weeks in Hawaii for their honeymoon.

The Quibbler wishes them all the best.

A small article followed.

Boy Who Lived Adopted
By Lysander Lovegood

Harry Potter Malfoy has given this reporter documents regarding his life., allowing the truth to be revealed.

According to these documents, our young hero is the adopted son of James Potter. In a private conversation, Harry told me that his mother allowed James to adopt him in order to protect both him and his birth father from the Dark Lord.

Harry then gave me a copy of his birth certificate in which his father was given as Severus Emanuel Snape, former Potions Professor at Hogwarts.

With acknowledgment that his relationship with the snarly professor hadn’t been the best while he was a student, Mr. Malfoy averred that he was getting to know his father - and enjoying the opportunity. “You don’t know what it’s like to not have a family. To be told that your parents are dead - and growing up with that knowledge, only to find out as an adult that you do have a living father.” Harry said, “It’s incredible. What makes it even more so is that he’s friends with my husband, so I don’t have to worry about in-law conflicts.”

After all you’ve been through, Harry, we’re happy for you.

Below it was another story that had the Wizarding world celebrating.

Harry and Lucius Malfoy parents of twins… and expecting another!
By Lysander Lovegood.

On February 14th, 2003, a day for lovers, twin babies arrived for Lucius and Harry Potter Malfoy.

The babies, a boy, and a girl, were both pronounced healthy by Healer Elizabeth Blackwell, as was the younger Mr. Malfoy.

Grandfathers Severus Snape and Remus Lupin are please with the expansion of their family.

The Messieurs Malfoy have announced that godparents for Rigel Black Malfoy and Merope Potter Malfoy are Neville and Luna Longbottom, and William and Charles Weasley. They also proclaimed Elizabeth Blackwell, the healer who delivered them, and Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall as the twins’ honorary grandmothers.

Elder brother, Draco Malfoy and his wife, Susan Bones Malfoy have expressed their joy in having the little ones join the family.

Mr. Draco Malfoy had also received permission to announce, through this reporter exclusively, that his father and stepfather are expecting another little bundle of joy to arrive sometime this May.

Blessing on all, from the Quibbler.

Albus Dumbledore was reading the paper at the head table that morning while Minerva waited for his ultimate reaction. At the final article, he went storming through the Great Hall, screaming at the top of his lungs.

McGonagall chuckled. “I guess Harry, Lucius, and Severus had the last word after all… old man!”

The Quibbler lay on the table at the Burrow. Molly dropped it there when the owl arrived, but was too busy to sit down and read it.

Ron darted in the door that afternoon, and grabbed a glass of pumpkin juice. Seeing the paper on the table, he picked it up. The first thing he read was the quidditch scores then glanced over the front page. At the words ‘Boy Who Lived’, he called out, “Hey Mum, there’s something in the paper about Harry.”

Molly Weasley appeared in the door. “So what does it say?”

As her youngest son read through the first article, he burst out, “Holy bloody hell! He married Lucius Malfoy!”

His mother collapsed into a chair. “He WHAT?”

Ron nodded. “According to this, they were married on July 1st of 2000… at the Wizarding University of Salem.” Then he growled. “And Remus has known all along! It says here that he stood in for Harry’s father at the bonding.”

He saw another headline and exploded. “Was his whole life a bloody lie?”

Molly raised her head from its resting place on her arms. “What are you going on about now?”

Ron finally handed the paper to her, to read the articles for herself. When she was done, Molly whispered, “Ron, I have a terrible headache, and am going to lie down. Tell your father I want to talk to him when he gets home.”

What he didn’t realize until she had gone upstairs was that she had taken the paper with her.

Arthur entered his bedroom to see his usually vivacious wife lying on the bed staring out the window.

“Were we so wrong, Arthur, to want him to marry Ginny?”

The Weasley patriarch shook his head. “I don’t know, Molly. But considering that he’s married to Lucius; has two children, and another on the way; and is extremely happy, I’d say we were.”

She turned over. “Harry has children?”

Arthur sat beside her. “I guess you didn’t read Lovegood’s last article, did you? Harry and Lucius have twins that were born two years ago in February. And according to what Draco told the reporter, they’re expecting another this spring.” He embraced her, “Harry always wanted a family, Molly, and now he has one. Since that day Lucius and Kingsley pulled him out of the Dursleys, almost dead, he’s become a strong, loving man.”

Arthur finally met her eyes. “I can’t begrudge him that, Molly. Harry deserved to be happy, and if he’s truly gay, being with Ginny would have turned into hell for both of them.”

Ron quickly apparated to Diagon Alley to pick up a second copy of the Quibbler then returned to wait for his wife.

When Hermione returned to the house, he quickly set the paper down in front of her. After several minutes, she looked up and whispered. “That day I went to see him at St. Mungo’s, he was with this healer, Elizabeth Blackwell.” She stood and paced the floor for several minutes putting the pieces together. “DAMN! He was pregnant then, and I never suspected he was there as anything but a healer.”

As she continued to put all the pieces together, she realized where she went wrong that day. “No wonder the clerk couldn’t tell me where to find Harry Potter. He had taken the Malfoy name!”

Ron sat there quietly for a long time before he asked, “Were we wrong, Hermione? Were we wrong to insist that he live by our choices and not his own?”

She sat down beside her husband. “I don’t know Ron. We never took into account the fact that he had been so hurt for so long. I imagine that it took something profound for Harry to fall in love with Lucius Malfoy.”

The redhead nodded. “Like rescuing, healing, and protecting him?” He finally looked up. “We were supposed to be Harry’s best friends… and we let him down. Neville and the others proved themselves to him… by getting him help when he most needed it.”

Hermione frowned. “But to go to Lucius Malfoy, a former Death Eater?”

Ron Weasley nodded. “What Kingsley said at that first Order meeting after they returned was right. Lucius Malfoy was the only one with the power to protect Harry from Dumbledore… or do you think they should have just let Harry die?”

His wife had no answer to that. They had ruined a friendship out of their need to control of the Boy Who Lived, and the power he held, never realizing that there was more power in that friendship than they would ever need.

The morning of October 31, 2006, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Lily and James Potter, a banner headline on most of the major wizarding newspapers in the world, sent shockwaves throughout the population. Harry had chosen the timing in memory of his mother.

Board of Governors’ Terminates Dumbledore
By Lysander Lovegood

At the request of a number of members of Hogwarts’ Board of Governors, reporters were invited to observe the proceedings at the recent meeting.

Rarely does the public know who is making the decisions regarding their children’s education, but in this instance, the Board had no qualms in allowing a list of the familial seats occupied.

The families represented are as follows: Black, Bones, Churchill, Dyfed, Graham, Longbottom, Lovegood, Malfoy, Potter, Russell, Snape, Thwaite, Weasley, and Wilton.

Also filled, for the first time in generations, are the Founders’ Seats. Their holders graciously allowed this reporter to name them.

For Godric Gryffindor – Neville Longbottom
For Rowena Raveclaw – Luna Lovegood Longbottom
For Helga Hufflepuff – Susan Bones Malfoy
For Salazar Slytherin – Harry Potter Snape Malfoy

To the amazement of many present, the Weasley familial seat is being shared by William and Charles Weasley equally – something that had never been considered before.

The agenda for the meeting consisted of whether or not Albus Dumbledore should be removed from his position as Headmaster. A title he has held for more than 70 years. As the few ‘old guard’ members fought against the removal, proof Dumbledore’s dereliction of duty was presented by some of the Board.

It began with former Hogwarts Professor, Severus Snape, who presented the Board with the documentation that he was the son of the Headmaster – and pensieve testimony as to how his father, Albus Dumbledore forced him to spy on the Dark Lord for more than twenty years., often returning beaten, bloody, and suffering from the Cruciatus Curse.

The second witness was Remus J. Lupin, former Defense Professor. His pensieve testimony consisted of a meeting between himself, Severus Snape, Harry and Lucius Malfoy, and Albus Dumbledore; in which the Headmaster admitting to setting up the murder of Lily Potter, unfortunately catching James Potter as well.

The deaths of the Potters, as our readers may remember, brought about the imprisonment of Sirius Black for their betrayal. It ultimately lays Mr. Black’s death at Dumbledore’s doorstep as well.

Neville Longbottom presented a Hogwarts’ letter, received by Harry Potter on 31 July 1991, and given to him by the same to guard. That letter showed that Mr. Potter, at the age of 11, was living in a cupboard under the stairs of his maternal aunt’s home. Surely a sign of neglect or abuse.

Mr. Longbottom also gave pensieve testimony in which Mr. Potter was heard requesting that Albus Dumbledore NOT send him back to his aunt’s at the end of his sixth year.

Healer Elizabeth Blackwell presented documentation of the injuries sustained by Mr. Potter after he was rescued that same summer. The documentation had already been proven true at the trial of the Dursley family in October 1997.

By the end of the meeting, the Board had voted to oust Albus Dumbledore from his post as Headmaster, and install Minerva McGonagall, the current Deputy, in his place. Only one member, Clarence Churchill, voted in favor of Mr. Dumbledore.

Hopefully, the next generation of Hogwarts’ students will never be put through what Severus Snape and Harry Malfoy have endured.

That edition of the Quibbler sent shock waves through Hogwarts. Even the students were wondering… if he had done this to their hero, who else had he encouraged the neglect of?

Minerva McGonagall sat in her office, waiting for the explosion from the Headmaster’s office. Harry had sent her an owl ahead of time to let her know of the Board’s decision.

Her door crashed open, and Albus Dumbledore stood there. “How could they do this to me? I’ve spent all those years working to defeat the Dark Lord, and now they treat me like I’ve done something wrong.”

Unknown to him, Poppy Pomfrey and Samantha Sinistra were just inside Minerva’s private quarters with the door ajar. The Transfiguration Mistress stared at him in disbelief. “You can’t seriously believe that allowing your own son to be tortured… or allowing Harry to be abused, is something the Board of Governors would overlook. Especially when they are both on that same Board!”

Ignoring his glare, she continued. “The fact that you could do that to your own child… and the young man who was destined to save our arses, has only proven to them that you would ignore anything that wasn’t to your benefit.”

Growling at the woman, Albus raised his wand, but before he could curse her, it was dragged from him. A quick stupefy had him immobilized.

Poppy stepped through the door. “Minerva, I think you should contact Kingsley. He's just too out of control"
