The Return

Votes are in and counted, and this chapter you will find out the gender of the baby, plus Severus is tricked.

As time usually does days turned into weeks and weeks into months and soon it was the Christmas holidays and the students were excited about being able to go home. Harry was excited as he was now five months along and they could perform the spell to check the gender of the baby soon. He was bigger than they all thought he would be at that time, but wasn’t worried as Poppy said the baby was healthy.

Severus had kept his promise to his siblings and wrote to them often. In fact he and Harry and been invited to Selina’s for Christmas Eve and when they agreed they were asked to bring Mitch as a surprise for Linda who had gone home for the holidays. Harry had gone to James and Lily and gotten their permission for him to go with them.

Things between James, Lily, and Harry had stayed pretty stagnant and finally he told them that while he was willing to try for a friendship with them and their children, with the exception of Mitch who he claimed as a brother. He didn’t think he could give more than that. He had parents, two sets of them: Remus and Sirius, and Molly and Arthur. While James and Lily were upset they felt they had no right to complain, they gave him up and sent him to live in a hell most people would fear. No they would take what they could get. Though it upset Lily that her first grandchild would call someone else grandma. Harry offered to give back the key to their vault, but James said when they faked their deaths their name of Potter automatically passed to him and he was now the head of that family. They would never be able to take that back. The money, land, and tile of Lord Potter (or Potter-Snape now) were Harry’s.

Alex and Cody were another story all together though. They still tormented Mitch and Harry was constantly having to heal the poor boy. James and Lily tried everything to get them to leave Mitch alone, but they would still pick on him when their parent’s backs were turned and Harry, Severus, Remus, and Sirius always pranked them back with the help of Linda and Mitch.

Mitch could always be seen following Harry around when he had the time. If Harry was in the Hospital wing Mitch was watching him. He thought his big brother was greater than anything and James and Lily were glad he picked someone like Harry to idolize. Harry never shooed him away unless he had an emergency to attend to and would sometimes show Mitch how muggles would heal something. Mitch was always fascinated by how much Harry knew about DADA and loved when he would help him and Linda with their homework. The two had the highest grade in the class thanks to Harry.

Harry and Severus were sitting in the hospital wing while Poppy was checking over the baby. Once she was sure everything was fine she would perform the spell to tell the gender of the baby. It was at that moment that Mitch came scurrying into the wing. Harry and Severus promised he, Moony, and Padfoot could be there when they found out the gender. Soon the last two needed showed up and Poppy cast the spell.

The results were a purple glow and Harry instantly knew what that meant while the others had no clue. It was Mitch who voiced everyone’s questions and fears when they saw Poppy beginning to run more tests.

“What does purple mean? Is the baby OK?”

Severus automatically thought the worst. Something was wrong with his baby. There was something wrong with his child and there was nothing he could do to fix it. Then he heard Poppy speak.

“Actually the babies are just fine. Both, a boy and a girl, are extremely healthy.” That said there was the sound of two bodies hitting the floor. “Oh my maybe I should have told them to sit down first. That will hurt when they wake up.”

Everyone laughed as she levitated Severus and Sirius onto beds so they would be more comfortable when they woke up. Harry was thrilled; he was going to have two children. He and Sev were going to have two children.

He moaned as he opened his eyes and looked into the smiling face of his husband who was perched on the bed next to him.

“Love, I had the strangest dream. Poppy said we were going to have twins.” He said as his husband lay down next to him and he placed a hand protectively on the bump that was now his husband’s stomach.

“That wasn’t a dream love, you are going to have a son and a daughter in another four months.” Harry replied. Severus looked at Harry in awe before he kissed him soundly on the lips

“Thank you” and he kissed him again.

The two had decided to keep the fact that it was twins a secret until Christmas when they would surprise their families with the news. So the made Sirius, once he woke up, Remus, and Mitch promise to keep it secret till then.

So here they were Christmas Eve waiting for the portkey to take them to Selina’s. It was funny while not pregnant, Harry wouldn’t portkey or floo without landing on is butt at the end of the trip, but while pregnant he had no problems. Severus thought that might be how it was while holding the children as well. At 6 the portkey activated and deposited them and Mitch in front of Selina’s house.

Severus wrapped an arm around his husband’s waist and Mitch took Harry’s hand as he led them up to the house and rung the bell. Linda answered and squealed in delight as she saw her friend with her uncles. She led them in and showed them where to put their cloaks and then led them to where the family was. Severus and Harry hugged all Severus’s siblings while they were introduced to spouses and children.

Snape Families:

Seth married to June Snape, children: Abby age four and Michael age Seven

Selina married to Hayden Meyers, children Linda age eleven and William age six

Stephanie married to Roland Wake, children John age two and Lucas age four.

All the children were thrilled when they met their other uncles, Linda had told them all about them and couldn’t wait to meet them. Just as they all sat down and were catching up Linden and Ruth Snape entered the room. They smiled at their children and grandchildren and then their eyes fell to their oldest and their smiled fell.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Seethed Linden

Sensing things were going to get ugly Harry turned to the two oldest children in the room, “Linda, Mitch, why don’t you take the children and go play for a while.”

“Who do you think you are, you can’t order my granddaughter around!” exclaimed Ruth.

Mitch recognizing the signs of a shouting match coming in which his brother would hopefully not take place as it wouldn’t be good for the twins, he ushered the stunned children out of the room with a “come find us when your done Harry.” To which he received a nod from his brother. He had seen enough of these between his bother in law and dad to know fighting verbally or physically with Severus could get ugly.

Once the children were gone Linden looked at his oldest son and repeated his question, “what are you doing here?” While retching for his wand.

Harry had his wand out and disarmed Linden before anyone even had a chance to blink. “Let’s try this without violence first shall we?” Severus could hear the unease in his voice and knew he was worried that if cursed started to fly they might hit him and harm the babies. That thought scared him more than he expected.

“Lets just sit and talk about this like adults can’t we?” Asked Seth. He noticed how Severus had wrapped an arm around Harry and was now covering his stomach with his hand and how Harry’s hands were also covering his stomach. He knew the two were worried something might happed to the babies if things got out of hand.

Once Linden and Ruth sat Selina spoke, “Mother, Father I thought you weren’t coming tonight.”

“Yes, well we decided to come early,” said Ruth looking at her daughter.

Seth decided to lay everything on the live and hope his parents had done what he thought they did. “We met with Sev back in September when we found out he was teaching at Hogwarts. Tell me did you ever read any of the letters he sent or any newspaper clippings about the defeat of Voldemort? I thought not. Sev was a spy for the Light side and later married Harry Potter in a soul mate bond, the two were the first soul mated born in a Century. Later Sev and Harry defeated Voldemort and were honored for what they did.”

Ruth and Linden were shocked. They had just burned the letters and didn’t bother reading the paper. If they had known sooner they wouldn’t have missed out on so much in their son’s life. Then something dawned on Ruth. If Severus was sitting in front of her than the person sitting next to him, the person she yelled at was the Harry Potter. She was related to Harry Potter, he was her son in law.

“Severus, we are so sorry, we didn’t know, we didn’t listen. Nothing can excuse what we did, but he are sorry.” Came Linden’s voice.

Then they heard the words they never thought they would hear from their oldest son, “your forgiven” but not forgotten.

After they had retrieved the children and eaten dinner they all sat down and began to open presents. They were half way through when Harry jumped in surprise and placed a hand on his stomach.

“What’s wrong?” Asked Severus

“Nothing, the baby just moved for the first time.” Harry told him with a smile.

Severus gently placed his hand on his husband’s stomach and felt the baby roll under it. He smiled at his husband and gave him a gentle kiss. Then saw all his nieces and nephews watching, looking at them he asked, “do you want to see if they will move for you?” At that all the children jumped up and took turns placing their hands on Harry’s tummy feeling the babies move, giggling when they felt it.

It was then Severus heard the rest of the adults start laughing. “Oh yeah you can laugh, but I bet you acted the same way during the pregnancy of your first child.” They all shut up at that, as they knew he was right.

Harry laughed and said, “yeah but they probably didn’t feint either.”

Severus glared at his husband and said, “they hadn’t been told their spouse was going to have twins.”

That got the whole families attention. “Twins?” asked Seth.

“Oh, yeah Poppy confirmed it a week ago.”

“Well, good luck with that.”

“Well, I think it’s exciting, two more grandchildren.” Said Ruth.

“I’m sure they will be sweet kids if we can keep Remus and Sirius and the Weasley twins from having to much of an influence on them.” Said Harry as he smirked at Severus

“Merlin help us if they turn out like any or all four of them.” Groaned Severus.

The rest of the night was spent laughing at the antics of the four men mentioned.

I hope every one is happy with the gender of the baby or should I say babies the votes ended up just being too close so I decided to try and appease everyone.
