Chapter 8

Wind & Water

\"I don\'t like this, Albus!\" Poppy exclaimed, pacing the length of her office. \"I don\'t like this one bit! We can\'t keep these children locked away. The other students are bound to notice if they don\'t return to classes.\"

\"I know Poppy, but it won\'t take long to find the other elementals.\" Dumbledore replied, sitting calmly in one of the overstuffed armchairs.

\"Say I went along with this crazy notion that those two are elementals, then what? What is going to happen if we don\'t find the others? How can you be certain that the other two elementals are within the walls of this school?\"

\"Poppy, we\'ve discussed this already. Mr.Weasley and Ms.Granger\'s abilities would not have lain dormant for so long if they had not been in close contact with the other two. In order to balance their magic, they need to be close to each other.\"

\"That book doesn\'t say how close the four of them need to be. The other two elementals could be in any one of the surrounding towns.\"

\"All the students who live within these towns attend Hogwarts.\" Dumbledore replied.

\"What if they\'re not students?\" Poppy asked, her voice rising.

\"Poppy, I understand your concern, but you are talking yourself in circles.\" Dumbledore smiled. \"In order for one elemental to exist, then all four must exist. The wind and water elementals will be of the same age as Mr.Weasley and Ms. Granger. They would not have survived their first year if they had been born in a different year.\"
Poppy sighed and sank down into the chair behind her desk. \"There\'s still one problem that I think must be addressed. What if one of the elementals are already bound to Voldemort? It would only give him more power then he already had.\"

\"The only thing that we can do in that situation is prepare those elementals that do not wish to serve Voldemort. We will have to neutralize the threat as much as possible. As it is, I doubt that Mr. Weasley or Ms. Granger are interested in joining Voldemort’s ever growing army.\"

\"I suppose you\'re right.\" Poppy sighed.\" As much as I...\"

Madame Pomfrey was cut off by a low rumbling sound and the infirmary doors being thrown open. The doors made a loud crash as they hit the walls behind them.

\"What on earth?\"

* * *

\"Harry, slow down.\" Draco called, trailing behind the Gryffindor. \"You\'re going too fast.\"

Harry cast a glance over his shoulder and noticed that Draco was having difficulty keeping up. Harry slowed his pace until the blonde was once again running beside him. He sent Draco a worried glance, noticing the pale face and the way that his hand was holding the side of his abdomen.

Catching Harry\'s glance Draco gave him a small smile. \"Don\'t worry about me, Harry. I\'ll be fine.\"

Taking Draco\'s hand , Harry rounded the corner and ran towards the infirmary doors. Before he could clearly see the handles, they were thrown open by a forceful gust of wind.

\"MADAM POMFREY!\" He shouted over the noise of the wind.

* * *

Madame Pomfrey stood, quickly making her way over to the door. The headmaster followed her quick steps. Once the door had been thrown open, the rumbling sound had increased in pitch. What on earth could be making that noise?

As they stepped out into the main part of the infirmary, they were stopped by what they saw. Harry and Draco were kneeling in front of the doors. The beds closest to them had been pushed back as far as they could go, clearing a 15 foot space around them.

Taking a step further into the room, Dumbledore had to duck as several bottles of Skele-Grow went flying past him, having been caught up in the strong wind that surrounded the boys.

\"Albus, I can\'t tell which one the magic is coming from. We need to separate them.\"

\"The question would seem to be how?\" Dumbledore replied. He couldn\'t use magic to suppress the force of the wind like he would suppress the magic leaking from an overly stressed student. This magic was raw and much more powerful than his own.

\"HARRY, CAN YOU HEAR ME?\" Dumbledore shouted, hopping that one of the boys would at least be able to communicate with them .

* * *

Draco came to a stop beside Harry, breathing heavily. He doubled over as the pain in his side started to throb.

\"Draco, are you okay?\" Harry asked, kneeling down beside him.

\"I\'ll be fine.\" Draco gasped. \"I guess I overexerted myself.\"

Harry raised an eyebrow questioningly.

\"I haven\'t been sleeping well, those dreams having been keeping me up until all hours of the night.\"

\"Have you been eating properly?\"

\"Yes.\"

\"Draco?\"

\"No.\" Draco pouted. \"I haven\'t been feeling well, alright. Most of the time I barely make it to the bathroom without being ill.\"

\"You should have told me sooner.\"

\"Harry, we have more important things to worry about at the moment. You can lecture me later.\" Draco exclaimed, noticing that Dumbledore and Pomfrey had entered the room. Harry followed his gaze and was met with the sight of Dumbledore trying in vain to approach them.

Draco watched as Dumbledore ducked out of the way, as several bottles went flying by his head. After a moment of trying to come closer, Dumbledore stopped. His mouth was moving but the blonde couldn\'t hear a word of what he was saying. The noise of the wind overpowered him.

\"I can\'t hear him.\" Draco cried in frustration.

\"He asked if we could hear him.\"

\"Can you?\" Draco asked, looking over at Harry, whose eyes were still locked on the Headmaster.

Harry nodded. \"He wants to separate us. They can\'t figure out who the magic is coming from.\"

Draco looked at Dumbledore as though he had sprouted another head. \"It doesn\'t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. The wind is obviously coming from you, seeing as though you are the only one whose hearing is not affected by the wind.\"

\"I think it\'s more of a safety thing.\" Harry explained. \"They don\'t want you to be in danger.\"

\"Danger? It\'s more dangerous out there than it is in here.\" Draco replied. \"I personally don\'t want the imprint of a bottle upside my head.\"

* * *

\"HARRY, CAN YOU HEAR ME?\" Dumbledore waited for a reply, but the only thing that he got was the boys\' attention. Taking this as a good sign, he continued. \"BOTH YOU AND MR.MALFOY NEED TO BE SEPARATED. WE CAN\'T FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE OF YOU IS CREATING THE WIND.\"

Dumbledore watched as Harry turned to converse with a confused looking Draco. \"Well, it appears that only Mr. Potter can hear us.\"

\"We still need to get Mr. Malfoy out of there.\" Madame Pomfrey said, coming to stand beside Dumbledore. \"He looks pale and considering that we are talking about Mr. Malfoy, that is not something that we should ignore.\"

Dumbledore chuckled, but agreed. Draco did not look well.

\"HARRY, WE BELIEVE THAT THE MAGIC IS COMING FROM YOU. I NEED YOU TO CONCENTRATE ON THE MAGIC. TRY TO CALM THE WIND ENOUGH TO ALLOW MR. MALFOY TO PASS THROUGH.\"

Dumbledore waited a moment as Harry turned back to Draco. They argued for a moment before Draco nodded. Harry turned back to the Headmaster and closed his eyes. After several moments, Dumbledore could feel the power in the room slowly begin to decrease.

Talking a step closer, Dumbledore motioned for Draco to make his way towards them.

Draco stood and walked toward the wall of wind. He wasn\'t sure that he\'d be able to get through. Not when he was already tired from running. Draco turned and looked back toward Harry, only to find the Gryffindor staring straight back at him. All it took was a nod from Harry and Draco turned back around and began making his way through the wind.

Although Harry had managed to slow the wind down, it was still hitting Draco with enough force to make his movements slow. The objects that had been picked up were still circling Harry. Draco not only had to contend with the force of the wind but the flying objects as well.

Harry watched nervously as his boyfriend walked slowly through the wind. He was so focused on the blonde that he barely noticed the rather large tray of medical equipment being picked up and hurled across the room, heading straight for Draco. Draco was too preoccupied to take notice.

\"DRACO!\" Harry shouted, stretching out his arm. Surprisingly, an extremely strong gust of wind came rushing from behind him, intercepted the tray, and blew it off course. Draco jumped at the noise it made when it crashed into the far wall.

\"HARRY, YOU SEEM TO HAVE SOME SORT OF CONTROL OVER THE MAGIC. CONCENTRATE AND TRY TO REIGN IT IN!\" Dumbledore shouted.

Harry nodded and closed his eyes again. After several minutes of concentrating, he began to feel the magic around him. Experimentally, he reached out with his mind and pushed on a spot where the magic was slightly weaker. When he did so, the beds to his right were thrown backwards. Harry jumped in surprise.

\"THAT\'S IT, HARRY! YOU\'RE GAINING MORE CONTROL. TRY TO ABSORB THE MAGIC INSTEAD OF PUSHING IT AWAY, BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO DRAW TOO MUCH IN.\"

Harry once again closed his eyes and concentrated until he could once again feel the magic. This time, instead of pushing, he began pulling small sections towards him. He wasn\'t sure how he was supposed to absorb it, but in the end he didn\'t need to. Once the magic came within a few feet of him, it began to bond with his own magic. It was a bit shocking as the first burst of magic spread through him, but he quickly became accustomed to it.

As he continued to pull in the magic, the wind began to die down. When Harry reached his limit, the wind had retreated to a strong breeze. The heavier objects that had been caught up in the bursts of wind settled back onto the floor. The smaller objects, like the paper and towels, were still floating around the room on the breeze, but they no longer posed a threat.

\"WELL DONE, HARRY! NOW TRY PICKING APART THE REMAINING MAGIC. START ON THE WEAKER SPOTS BEFORE MOVING ONTO THE MORE COMPLEX AREAS.\" Dumbledore called, offering him encouragement.

Harry began to sway heavily. He was tired and could barely keep his magic under control. He almost fell sideways but a pair of strong arms stopped his descent. Harry looked up and found himself staring into Draco\'s soft grey eyes.

\"Come on, Harry. Don\'t give up.\" the blonde smiled, placing a gentle kiss on Harry\'s forehead. \"You can do it. Just a little bit more.\"

Harry nodded, leaning back against Draco\'s chest and closing his eyes. It took a little bit longer than the last time, but he was able to locate all the magic. Slowly, he reached out and with his mind and began picking at the magic. Little by little, he was able to disperse the magic. He continued until he collapsed limply against Draco, gasping for air. There was still magic left, but the wind had died down to a gentle breeze.

Draco gathered Harry in his arms. He tried lifting him, but Harry was dead weight. There was no way that Draco would be able to carry him in the state that he himself was in. The blonde could barely pick himself up, let along another person as well.

Madame Pomfrey made her way over to the two boys and levitated Harry to one of the beds. Dumbledore, having followed the nurse, offered his hand to Draco.

\"Are you alright, Mr. Malfoy?\"

\"Yes. I\'m fine.\"

\"He\'s lying.\" came a raspy voice from their left.

Both Draco and Dumbledore turned to face Harry. He was propped up against the pillows on one of the beds that had not been destroyed. Madame Pomfrey was handing him potion after potion. With a look of disgust, Harry drank all of them before relaxing against the pillows.

\"He\'s lying. He hasn\'t been feeling well, he\'s been getting sick every morning, he hasn\'t been sleeping, and he hasn\'t been eating properly.\"

\"Is this true, Mr. Malfoy?\" Madame Pomfrey asked.

Draco crossed his arms in a huff. \"I\'m perfectly fine.\"

\"I\'ll say whether or not you\'re fine, thank you.\" Madame Pomfrey scolded. \" I am the trained Medi-Witch, not you.\"

Dumbledore chuckled. \"She\'s quite right, my boy.\"

With a sigh, Draco sat down on the edge of Harry\'s bed. Madame Pomfrey followed him over. There was no way that he was leaving that room until she had discovered what was causing the blonde to become ill.

Draco took Harry\'s hand as Madame Pomfrey began running tests. When she had only one test left, she muttered an incantation and her wand began to glow a pale green colour. Starting at Draco\'s head, she ran her wand down the front of him. It wasn\'t until she reached his stomach that the wand changed colour. When she ran it over his stomach, it glowed a bright pink colour. Seeing this, Madame Pomfrey stopped her actions and stared at her wand.

\"Oh dear.\" She whispered, turning to face Dumbledore.

\"You had better check again, Poppy.\" Dumbledore said, his eyes dancing with laughter.

\"What? What\'s wrong?\" Harry asked, slightly worried.

Madame Pomfrey didn\'t say anything; she simply repeated the procedure. Once again, when the wand was run over his stomach, the pale green colour changed to pink.

\"Would someone kindly tell me what the hell is going on?\" Draco stormed, his nerves beginning to fray.

\"You...\" Madame Pomfrey stuttered. \"You\'re pregnant.\"

Both Harry and Draco stared at her, mouths open and eyes blinking in shock. If the situation had not been so serious, she would have laughed. Dumbledore, on the other hand, couldn\'t help but chuckle.

\"Congratulations, it seems to be a girl.\"

With those words, the last bit of concentration that Harry had on his magic vanished. The wind returned in full force, once again destroying the room. The only difference this time was that rain also began to fall. Dumbledore and Madame Pomfrey glanced at each other, then back at the boys. Harry\'s eyes had clouded over, literally. You could just see the pupils beneath the white fog that had gathered in the boy\'s eyes and Draco sat on the edge of the bed, breathing heavily. They watched as his breath began to condense until little puffs of white appeared each time he exhaled. The temperature in the room began to drop drastically, until frost began to form on the windows and many of the surfaces in the room.

Dumbledore stepped forward and placed his hands on Draco\'s shoulders. \"Now there is nothing to worry about, Mr. Malfoy. Male pregnancies are rare but not unheard of.\"

Draco cast him a look of complete horror before his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he passed out. When Draco\'s body hit the sheet, Harry slumped back against the pillows. Both of them had fainted. The moment that their subconsciouses took over, the wind and rain stopped. Unfortunately for Madame Pomfrey, the ice remained.

\"Well, considering the circumstances, that went rather well.\" Dumbledore grinned.

Madame Pomfrey took one look at the grin on Dumbledore\'s face and sank down in one of the chairs beside Harry\'s bed. \"I\'m getting far too old for this.\"
