Broken Inside chapter 8


It was the weekend and Severus Snape should have been grading papers, taking off house points from Gryffindor or better yet enjoying a nice drink over at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmede. Instead he was helping a certain Miss Hermione Granger catch up on her lessons. He was impressed at how much she had already learnt, it had been almost a month since she had been here but already she had grasped the first two weeks of work that she was doing in each subject. As Snape looked over at her, immersed in a book about healing potions he felt a stirring in his heart of, pity? regret?. He felt pity for her being stuck here when in all truth she should be at Hogwarts. He also felt regret, that he had never had a child who had the brilliance of Miss Granger. He was cut off in his musings by Miss Granger asking him a question

“Do Ron and Harry know”


Hermione looked over at her Professor, she had been surprised when he had agreed to help her catch up with the work she was missing at Hogwarts, true he was the same snarky, sarcastic self but being in close contact with him had shown her that there was a more tender side to him than the one he showed in class for example Hermione had been totally unprepared for the hug he had given her when she had poured out her feelings to him ,Hermione thought that he must have been surprised too for he later apologized for his
“Indecent behavior”


“Do Ron and Harry know”

“Pardon Miss Granger”

“Do Ron and Harry know about my being here”

“No Miss Granger, they do not”

“Why?”

“Because Miss Granger, it was thought best, as the Dark Lord said Potter would of most likely run to your rescue and gotten killed n the process”

“So where do they think I am” said Hermione quizzically

“They have been told that you have transferred to a school in America, now Miss Granger if that is enough with the questions then I suggest we get back to our lesson on healing potions”
Of course Professor, I apologize “said Hermione coldly

She waited as Professor Snape asked her practical questions on the way to brew up a simple healing potion to a more complex one. Snape had asked Voldermort’s permission before actually coaching her, saying that it would be too dangerous for her if they did it in secret and then got found out. Voldermort had agreed on condition that they did not brew anything encase it harmed the baby. Hermione hoped that not actually brewing the potion but learning the steps to do would still mean that she could actually, when the time came be able to brew it. As they moved on to Transfiguration with Hermione transfiguring her vanity into an animal, Hermione felt an even more keen loss for Hogwarts. The news that Ron and Harry did not even know where she was had been a blow to her, they had probably made new friends and if she did eventually ever come back to Hogwarts then they might not want to know her.

Suddenly she heard footsteps coming down the hall and the door being opened, at the same time she saw Snape clutch his forearm,

I’m being summoned, put the books away before anyone sees them”

Hermione shoved the books and scrolls underneath the bed as the door opened. Lucius Malfoy walked into the room

“Ah Severus, I thought I’d find you here, having a little chat with the Mudblood I see”

“We have just finished our lesson for the day”

Snape rolled his eyes at Hermione and she had to stifle her giggles, it was obvious what kind of ‘lesson’ Malfoy would interpret that as

“The Dark Lord wants us all in the meeting room to discuss the upcoming mission”

“Really Lucius, you should know better than to discuss the Dark Lords plans in front of this Mudblood”

“Yes I know, but really its not like she is going to escape” said Lucius laughing

“Severus we must be going, I will see you tonight, Mudblood” Lucius said winking at Hermione

And with that they were gone. Hermione sat on the bed and thought, she had forgotten to ask Snape about the attack on Hogwarts. That what Malfoy must have been talking about when he had mentioned the ‘mission’
Hermione sighed, it was going to be another long night, she reached under her bed and got out the work she had been doing with Snape, at least she could keep busy till then


A/N It has come to my attention that Hermione always seems to be crying at the end of chapters so I have decided to change that, next chapter we get back to my dream, or the one after that I don’t know yet. There will be confrontations and shock so stay tuned. And please R&R
