Chapter Seven Strategy
Sev was exhausted. He had stayed up all night with Harry discussing the finer points of world domination. As much as he knew it was one of the reasons that he trusted Harry, it still annoyed him how much the boy second guessed himself. He glanced over at the sleeping man and smiled. Things could go poorly. He knew that there was a chance that he and Harry would be killed, or that a civil war could happen, but he secretly didn’t have any doubts at all that it would go exactly how Harry wanted it to. He had served two of the most powerful and influential Wizards in the world, and he would be the first to point out that they were nothing compared to the man asleep in front of his fire. He had at one time hated this man. He had seen only the hateful image of James Potter who he had been one of the cruel teenagers who taunted him. He had thought that the young Gryffindor was an egomaniac just like his father before him. He now knew the horrible struggles that the child had with his self image and the guilt that he had subjected himself to.
Snape for the first time had found someone that he could wholeheartedly follow with no reservations. He would protect him, watch him, help him, advise him, and secretly love him until the day that he died. He felt a quiver of expectation run through him at the thought of the future. It looked bright to Sev for, perhaps, the first time in his life. The boy who lived might finally actually become the savior of the wizarding world and Snape planned to be on the right side from the beginning. He touched Harry’s cheek as he headed for his bed.

Harry woke late that afternoon with a slight headache and an empty belly. He did, however, feel perfectly resolved about his course. He knew that he still had not paid his karmic debt. He had been spared when so many died for a reason, and he felt he would finally be able to fulfil his purpose. Sev, was very persuasive in his, I am not trying to lead you in any particular direction, kind of way. Harry was prepared to take over the ministry. The only unresolved problem was the lack of allies. As they had discussed, he would need to appoint trusted advisors to key positions to maintain the illusion that it was still a free world. The problems lie with the lack of people. The only person that Harry trusted was Severus. He did plan to keep Fudge as he was very easy to manipulate, but beyond that he was at a loss for names.
His thoughts scattered a bit and he couldn’t help but think of the blond that had started this pattern of thought. How would Malfoy fit into his new plan? Harry was floundering and he knew it. He wanted to believe that this was all about justice, but he knew that the thought had been placed by the Slytherin that always seemed to consume his thoughts. He couldn’t help but wonder if there was a place in Draco’s life for his ex-rival.
Harry was still pondering who his allies would be, when Severus finally made his appearance.
Harry almost laughed at the scowl on his former professor’s face when it was marred with a yawn. “I am unhealthy for you my darling.” Harry muttered as he rose from the couch and stretched. “You didn’t dream up any allies did you, Sev?”
“I did. Let us eat and then I will contact Draco.”
Harry was curious but just nodded his head. “Fair enough, I am starving”
Neither man spoke while they ate. Each lost in thoughts about the future. Harry was pondering the Dumbledore issue. He didn’t really want to kill his former mentor, but he couldn’t see any scenario that would avoid it. When he took over he foresaw one of two things happening. Either Dumbledore would confront him openly, or he would start an insurgency. Harry would have to deal with him either way. Harry remained lost in thought as the potions master left to collect Draco. It was going to be an interesting ride. He had had no real purpose in his life since defeating Voldemort he looked forward to making a difference.
“Great Gods, Potter. You are still wearing the same clothes I saw you in on Friday. Have you even had a shower?” Draco looked like he smelled something foul. Turning back to Severus he stated “Whatever you wanted to discuss, can wait until wonder boy takes a shower and changes into fresh clothing.”
Stunned for a moment Harry finally chuckled low in his throat. He swept past the blond aristocrat to ask Severus if he had anything suitable that Harry could barrow. After Sev returned with clothing, he kissed Sev on the cheek and leaned in whisper “Are you sure that we should involve him?” The older man just nodded and walked to a comfortable chair to wait. Harry left to take his shower.
As soon as Harry was out of sight, Draco tuned an angry scowl on Snape. “What the hell is the deal with you two? When I talked to you before you told me that you only saw him once a year and didn’t have a relationship with him, now he’s sleeping here and kissing you. Did you fuck him, Snape? Are you another notch on his bedpost? Did he fuck you? Why did you ask me to come here?”
Severus raised an eyebrow at the young man who was working himself up to a full blown fit. “Why would the thought of me sleeping with Harry bother you so much, Draco?” He held up his hand to stop the outburst he could see building. “I am not sleeping with him. I simply would like to know why it would cause this kind of reaction if I was.”
Draco mumbled something under his breath and flopped into a chair to wait.
“What was that, Draco?”
“I didn’t say anything.”
Severus smiled to himself. It had sounded a lot like “Because he will be mine.”
