Home Is Where The Heart Is
Draco looked out over the valley. For a week now, he’d lived here in safety. He’d begun to think of it as home. He felt Kay’s hand on eh shoulder. He didn’t move so she sat next to him.
‘What’s wrong?’ Tru and Priya were packed up and ready to go for the journey, but Draco didn’t seem ready.
‘Back at the Manor, I always felt wrong and out-of-place. I never had anywhere that I felt truly at home. But here, I do. I feel like this is my home.’ She smiled softly.
‘Home is where the heart is.’
‘Then my heart’s here.’ She looked at him.
‘You dropped the mask here. You found some things to love. Tru, Priya, me, the beauty of the world.’ He smiled slightly and nodded.
‘Yeah. You’re the one person who ever listened without judging me. Mother was always so full of guilt. But you, you just listened. You didn’t judge me or anything. You just gave me your support. I… I love you for just being a rock.’ she smiled.
‘If you want to call this home, go ahead. I won’t hold it against you. I’d actually like it if you did. That means you’ll come back here with me.’ He nodded.
‘I’d like that.’ They smiled happily.
‘But we have to go. There’s a lot I want to show you.’ She grabbed his arm. ‘Come on little ferret.’ He frowned.
‘Ferret? When did I become ferret? How do you know about that?’ he asked, shivering slightly at the memory of being turned into a ferret by Professor Moody two years before.
‘Just now. I heard you moaning about it in your sleep. Don\'t you like it?’ he growled, and turned, chasing her to Priya. She mounted and flew of. He mounted Tru, and gave chase, sparing a glance for the valley he now knew as home. ‘We’ll be back Draco, I promise.’ He nodded then turned to her.
‘I know, Mikkie.’
‘You evil little ferret!’ she shrieked, and dived at him, but he dodged.
‘Hey, you’re calling me ferret! So, I\'m allowed to call you Mikkie,’ he protested, but she ignored him.
‘Fine then. I don’t have time to waste over silly little ferrets.’
‘Mikkie?’ he asked teasingly as they flew south, and was greeted by her death glare.
‘Shut up Ferretboy.’ They laughed together, and flew of.
Leonara - apologies for it\'s shortness. next chapter is longer. i thought i\'d set the scene for Draco letting go of his past a bit and moving on. i took your advice. don\'t worry, the male pairing is coming up, and in a very srtange pairing. it\'ll be important too. hope you enjoy this short chappie. the next one see them a little closer, or a lot closer, and i hope you\'ll enjoy it.
