Chapter 8: A Turn in the Conversation
Rosmerta looked up into Lucius’ pale blue eyes.
He didn’t trust her.
She knew she had been acting differently lately.
Of course that could be explained by the fact that she was first ordered to death and then spared on the condition that she agreed to serve the Dark Lord’s purposes.
Still, she was acting out of character and he was understandably suspicious. She was also unsure of how long he had observed her and Snape together; what had he heard?
Suddenly the absurdity of the whole situation struck her. The whole reason she was deceiving Lucius was so she could try to save his life. Yet he didn’t trust her.
Hell, she was probably the only one he should trust.
So she did the only thing she could think of.
She smiled at him.
Well, it was better than laughing in his face. That would be disastrous; Lucius didn’t take well to being laughed at.
“Lucius,” she purred. “Are you implying that you did trust me at one time?” Still smiling she placed her hand on his chest. His heart beat was strong and she could feel the vibrations beneath her hand.
“That is most flattering,” she continued enjoying the warm feel of his skin.
He returned her smile as he coved her hand with his.
“Should I trust you?” he whispered softly to her.
She stepped closer to him. The overwhelming heat from his body pulled her forward.
“Of course not,” she answered just as quietly.
Lucius raised one eyebrow in surprise. He had not expected her response.
“You are a Malfoy. You do not trust anyone. Why would you start now?” Rosmerta was teasing him and he chuckled softly as he pulled her toward him.
“And what about you, my dear?” he asked as he removed the pins from her escaping curls, causing them to fall around her shoulders. He then wrapped his hand in her long hair and pulled her even closer. His breath caressed her ear. “Do you trust me?”
She ed bed back slightly so she could see his face.
“I cannot say that I do trust you,” she said honestly, “and I cannot say that I do not.” At his confused look she explained, “I do not see trust as black and white, Lucius. I believe that it exists on a continuum.” As she talked she drew one finger across his chest. “On one extreme, there is no trust. On the other, there is total trust. You are somewhere in between.”
He gave her a half smile as he massaged the back of her neck. “Go on,” he encouraged her.
“Instead of being stagnant, it is a fluid process. Always changing, always flowing, depending on the situation.”
“I am not sure I follow,” he countered. “If it is unstable, unpredictable, then how can it be trust?”
“Dance with me, Lucius,” she said suddenly grabbing his hands and leading him into a dance.
“Changing the subject?” he questioned her as they moved slowly to the sound of her soft, low humming.
“No, just emphasizing my point.”
He gave her another quizzical look and then a grimace as she accidentally stepped on his foot.
“Sorry,” she said with a slight giggle. “I am not very good at this.”
“I suppose,” he replied sarcastically. “I should be glad that you are not wearing any shoes.”
At that point she again stepped on his foot and he grabbed her arms to stop her movement.
“Cease and desist,” he commanded, “before you break my toes.”
“So you do not trust me not to hurt you?” she asked innocently.
“I…” He stopped speaking suddenly as her hand reached down to gently cup his balls.
“What about now?” she whispered. “Now do you trust me not to hurt you? I could. It would be quite simple to do.”
His breathing had increased and his eyes narrowed at her.
“Rosmerta,” he growled in a dangerous voice. Ignoring the warning she moved her hand to grasp his growing erection.
“What about now?” she questioned as she knelt before him and licked the tip of his member. “I could do so much damage, Lucius. Yet you trust me enough to let me do this.” She then took him into her mouth as far as she could. He groaned, the sensual sound rewarding her for her efforts. She pulled out slowly, massaging him with her tongue as she did so.
“Lucius…” she began but he quickly interrupted her.
“No more talking,” he told her huskily as he pulled her head back to where he most wanted it.
Rosmerta was eager to comply. She loved doing this. The sensations were invigorating: the musky smell, the salty taste, and the smooth texture of his tightly stretched skin .
It was not long before he was finished, Rosmerta noted with some satisfaction.
Lucius cleaned them up quickly. He then dressed and put on his cloak, preparing to leave.
“We should discuss things more often,” he finally said with a smirk, “I enjoy the way you make your points.”
