Chapter 8: O.W.Ls
Chapter 8: O.W.Ls
I\'M SORRY THAT THIS CHAPTER IS SHORT AND A LITTLE ON THE LAME SIDE
BUT I DON\'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO WRITE ANYMORE. SO I HOPE U LIKE WHAT U GOT. LUV Sarah
Today is the first day of the O.W.L’s tests. Sarah had devoted all her extra time to intense studding. She felt so sick wondering if she was going to fail all the tests. All she wanted was to get everything right and become a mediwitch. She had talked to Draco occasionally but only if she really had to and that wasn’t often. Draco had begun to get on Sarah’s nerves a lot lately and she was beginning not to want him how she wanted him before. But somewhere down there she liked him just not as much as before.
Sarah walked down the hallways towards the great hall with Jasmine. She thought over and over trying to remember everything that she had studied. Sarah was extremely nervous. She just hoped that she would do well. She listed as Jasmine muttered things that she could not understand. They stopped walking once they got to the front of the great hall.
Sarah could hear Draco blabbing to the students that he knew the head of Wizarding Examinations Authority for years. Sarah knew that that was a total pile of crap and didn’t believe a word that came out of his mouth. Draco always lied; he did it to make himself seem cool. She hated guys like thShe She noticed that Anthony wasn’t around anymore. Well he was but not much.
“Sarah, look.” Jasmine nudged her shoulder in to Sarah’s ribs.
“Ah, what?” Sarah asked as she rubbed her side.
“The examiners.” Jasmine pointed to a group of older witches and wizards flipping through pieces of parchment.
“Oh.” Sarah could feel her stomach begin to convulse and her body began to shake. The nervousness was really beginning to her now.
“Good luck there Harris.” Draco sniggered. He had begun to call her Harris in stead of Harrison or Sarah.
“Yeah thanks Draco.” Sarah replied sarcastically. Jasmine grinned. Draco turned away and started to talk to him two fat body guards. “He’s so pathetic.” Sarah sighed.
“You’re telling me.” Jasmine laughed. Sarah began to laugh with her. She looked around and saw other students muttering words like Jasmine was doing.
Finally all the students were led in to the Great Hall to start with their written tests. Sarah’s hands shook wildly. Tables were placed in rows, each table one meter away from the other. Sarah walked to a table and sat down. Jasmine sat down next to her. McGonagall waited as all the students began to seat themselves down at the tables.
“Welcome to your first set of O.W.L examinations. On your desk is a test. I will announce when its time to start so get yourselves ready.” McGonagall held and hour glass in her hand. Sarah grabbed her ink and quill. “You may begin.” McGonagall announced. Everyone began to write as fast as they could. Sarah could hear the quills scratching on the parchment.
*****
It was nearly one hour later Sarah was still seated in the hall waiting for the hour glass to stop. There were only few seconds left. She thought that she had done pretty well considering how nervous she was
“Put down your quills.” McGonagall ordered. Sarah watched as people put down their quills. Sarah picked up her test and handed it to the examiner that was walking up and down the rows collecting the tests. She then stood up and left the hall. Students were told to wait as the Hall was changed back to normal for lunch.
“That was kind of hard.” Jasmine sighed.
“Yeah.” Sarah agreed.
“Draco had a really hard time.” Jasmine sniggered.
“Like I care.” Sarah droned. “But its good to hear that he’s not doing well.” Sarah burst out into laughter. The great hall was reopened and everyone walked in for lunch. Sarah sat down at the Slytherin table next to Jasmine and another boy. Draco sat down opposite her. Sarah looked up at him. He held a glad look on his face. “He doesn’t look like he had problems.” Sarah whispered to Jasmine.
“Well he does know the head of examinations. He could get away with it.” Jasmine replied.
“That’s not fair.” Sarah hissed.
“I know.” Jasmine nodded. Draco snapped his head up and looked at Sarah. It was almost as if he was reading her mind again. She looked down at her food and started to eat her lunch.
After lunch had been eaten the 5th years were directed out to the corridor again to wait for their next set of examinations. Sarah stood with Jasmine talking about Anthony and Draco and how pathetic they were. They laughed and laughed until it was getting close for Sarah to go in.
“Granger, Hermione - Goldshire, Anthony - Goyle, Gregory - Greengrass, Daphne.” McGonagall called. Sarah watched as the students walked into the hall. There was a ten minute wait until the next group of people were called. “Harrison, Sarah - Hilda, Annett - Hornet, Josie - Horton, Max.” Sarah began to feel nervous all over again.
“Good luck.” Jasmine smiled.
“Thanks.” Sarah smiled back. She walked into the hall holding her wand in her right hand.
“Miss Harrison, please proceed over to Professor Marchbanks.” Professor Flitwick pointed over to a lady at the furthest end of the hall. Sarah walked up to the lady professor.
“Sarah Harrison?” The professor asked as she looked down at some parchment.
“Yes.” Sarah nodded.
“Good.” Professor Marchbanks put down the parchment and picked up and egg cup. “Now please make this egg cup do some cartwheels.” she held out the egg cup in the palm of her hand. Sarah pointed her wand at the egg cup. The egg cup levitated in the air and spun around. The professor began to scribble notes down on the parchment as the cup spun. “Good.” She grabbed the cup out of thin air. “Now what is your favourite colour?”
“Pink.” Sarah replied.
“Good.” the professor reached behind her and grabbed a rat. “Make this rat pink please.” Sarah pointed her wand at her rat. With s flick of her wand the rats white hair turned a shade of hot pink. “Good.e pre professor turned the rat back to its normal white colour and put it back in to its cage. She wrote on her notes again.
Sarah did four more charms tests for the professor before she was able to leave the hall. She rushed back to the Slytherin common room so she could revise for the transfiguration test tomorrow. She thought she had done well today. She hadn’t stuffed anything up so he had to be ok.
On Wednesday Sarah had a Herbology exam, on Thursday she hadefenefense against the Dark arts exam and on Friday she had the day off. She was sure she had done well on the tests so far.
Sarah spent the weekend studding for the potions exam on Monday and a few other exams. She had no idea what potion they had to make so Sarah had to study every single one that she had learnt over the years.
******
Sarah sighed a sigh of relief after her very last O.W.L exam. No more exams, she was happy. Now everything was going to go back to normal. Shs ses seated on one of the big black couches in the common room smiling happily.
Sarah watched as tired students walked into the common room. She saw Draco walk in followed by his two fat oafs. He looked happy, happier then she had ever seen him before. He turned his head and looked at her for a moment, then walked up to her.
“Hey.” Draco smirked. Sarah didn’t want to talk to him.
“Hi.” Sarah replied dully.
“Did you do well?” He asked.
“I guess I did. I wouldn’t know.”
“That’s good. I gre great.” Draco boasted.
“Oh I’m sure you did great, after all you do know the head of Examinations don’t you?” Sarah in a highly sarcastic manor.
“Oooh jealous are we?” Draco mused.
“Absolutely not Malfoy! Why would I be jealous of you? You have nothing I don’t have.” Sarah smirked. “After all I am a true Slytherin.” Draco glared at her. “Tell me Malfoy have you opened your big blabby mouth yet?”
“What do you mean by that Harris?” Draco snapped.
“Have you told anyone who I really am yet?” Sarah replied slowly making sure Draco caught every word.
“Ah no… well not exactly.” Draco stammered.
“YOU GIT!” Sarah shouted. “I told you not to tell anyone anything!”
“I just said that you were pure blood that’s all.” Said Draco innocently.
“Yeah right. You lie so much that I don’t know when you do actually tell the truth.” Sarah stood up and walked off to her dorm.
Draco sat there feeling like a complete idiot. He really liked her, he did, he just couldn’t show it.
