*So I\'m kinda needing some help figuring out what to write...so suggestions would be helpful. Work is taking all my creative energy...*grin* Pleeeeeease help, respond...pleeeeease...
The cottage was small, but Ron and Hermione had wanted it that way. The sun was just going down when Draco and I finally arrived. The entire ride he had been quiet. I wondered what he was thinking. I glanced over a few times and he would look and smile. I would go back to driving. The silence in the car a comforting blanket between us.
“Harry!” Hermione waddled out of the house with her hands held open. I could tell she was fairly pregnant now. Ron came out behind her, smiling proudly.
Pulling her into a tight hug, I grinned, “how much longer?”
“I’m due next month.” She backed away and her eyes widened. “Malfoy?”
He nodded softly at her. The corner of his mouth tipped upward slightly, “Hermione.”
Before I could explain why Draco was with me, Ron stepped forward. “What are you doing here Malfoy?”
“Ron, he’s with me,” I quickly moved over to Draco, putting a hand on his shoulder. “I found him walking along the highway on my way here and we got reacquainted. That’s why I was so late.”
“Honestly Harry, I know you’ve been in a dating slump lately, but you could do much better than Draco Ma.” .” Ron sneered at Draco, and I felt Draco stiffen. I squeezed his shoulder softly, turning to Ron.
“Ron that was the rudest thing I’ve hea heard you say,” Hermione interjected. She had always known howreadread me, and I could tell she knew I was angry.
“Hermione do you not remember how he was at Hogwarts?”
“Yes, and we’re not at Hogwarts anymore.” She tried a smile at Draco. I never felt so proud of her. I knew she hated Draco too, hated him probably more than Ron ever could. But she was sticking up for him because of me. “Come on in Draco. We just finished dinner.”
Ron took one last helpless look between Draco and Hermione. Shrugging he gave up and followed Hermione inside. I turned to go inside but felt Draco stop me. “I can’t do this Harry. Your friends hate me, and they have every reason to.”
“You’re right they have every reason to. But we’re adults now, and you’re with me.” I touched his cheek tenderly. Since I had met him I couldn’t stop touching him. His cheek. His hand. “I love you Draco, but if you’re too uncomfortable to go in there, we don’t have to.”
Silently he watched me, as if weighing my words. “I am pretty hungry,” he finally concluded, taking my hand.
When we walked in, Ron and Hermione looked up. They had been arguing silently. When Ron saw we were holding hands he turned a slight shade of green. “Sit down at the table guys.”
It wasn’t until after supper and I was helping Hermione clean off the table when she pulled me aside, “Harry I’m not trying to be mean, but what the hell are you doing with Malfoy?”
“I was coming here, and nearly hit him with the car. We stopped at a bed and breakfast, and we talked, and…I don’t know. I love him.”
“You ‘love’ him? Harry, he made our lives hell.”
“He saved my life. He killed his own father to save my life. I don’t know how to get you to understand but I know this is right.”
Sighing, she placed the plate on the counter and swept me into a hug, “I guess that’s all that matters. You’re happy with him?”
“Yes.”
“I swear though Harry, he takes just one wrong step and I’ll kill him.”
Looking over my shoulder, I grinned, “if we don’t get in there soon they’re likely to kill each other without our help.”
Laughing, Hermione took my arm and we walked back into the living room. Ron was staring down Draco. Both silent. Intent to just stare until the other backed down. I walked over and kissed Draco on the top of his head. He looked up and smiled softly.
“Ouch!” suddsuddenly shrieked. “You didn’t have to pinch me.”
Draco and I both looked over and started laughing. Soon Hermione was laughing too. Ron cracked a smile, “well it hurt.”
That brought on another wave of laughter. “Ron,” Draco said between gulps of air, “you shouldn’t let your wife beat you liket. t. You can get help for it.”
The room was suddenly warmer. I looked from my friends to Draco, who was still chuckling. Hermione had started to talk about the baby. Ron was glowing. Draco looked at home. I settled onto the couch next to him and yawned unwillingly. Ron looked over, “Draco keep you up all night?”
Draco blushed the brightest shade of red I had ever seen. I knew I was blushing too. Hermione giggled, “I’ll show you guys to your rooms…err…you’d probably only want one huh?”
Looking over at Draco, I felt his smile echo in my eyes, h, jh, just one.”
***so yeah, please help, cause I can\'t think anymore...no more waitressing...oh god no more!!!!
