Part 7


Severus would not even look at Susana or Harry the next morning at breakfast.

\"Who\'s that sitting next to Professor Snape?\" Ginny Weasley asked.

Susana looked towards the head table and bit her bottom lip. \"That\'s my mom.\"

\"No offense, but what did she see in him?\"

She shrugged.

Harry saw sadness in her eyes. He put his arm around her waist.

She smiled at him. \"Would you hand me a muffin?\"

\"What are your plans for today, Harry?\" Ron asked.

\"I have homework to finish. And don\'t forget we have Quidditch practice at four.\"

\"Ron forget Quidditch? You\'ve got to be kidding.\" Hermione rolled her eyes.

\"I didn\'t know you played Quidditch?\" Susana picked at her muffin as she leaned on Harry.

\"I\'ve been the Gryffindor Seeker since first year and Captain since last year. Ron\'s Keeper and Ginny\'s a Chaser.\"

She looked into his eyes. \"I can\'t wait to see you play. When\'s your first match?\"

\"I haven\'t received the schedule yet. Remind me to get it from Madam Hooch today.\"

There was a loud bang from the head table. It appeared that Snape had slammed a book down on the table.

\"Momma looks upset.\" She whispered to Harry. Her mother\'s eyes met hers. She took a deep breath. \"I\'m gonna go talk to her.\"

\"Do you want me to come with you?\" Harry asked.

She shook her head. \"I can do this.\" She kissed him sweetly. \"I\'ll meet you in our common room to work on Trelawney\'s prediction paper in about an hour.\" She kissed him again.

Susana took a deep breath and slowly walked to the head table. \"Momma, can we talk?\"

\"Sure sweetheart.\"

She glared at her father.\" Somewhere private.\"

Emily stood. \"Let\'s go to Mother\'s chambers.\"

Susana followed her mom out of the Great Hall.

\"I owe you a huge apology, my angel. I never should have kept things from you.\"

Susana shook her head. \"No, you shouldn\'t have, but that\'s not what I want to talk to you about.\"

\"Oh. Okay. What would you like to talk about?\"

She bit her bottom lip. \"Did you know you loved Daddy the moment you saw him?\"

Emily also bit her bottom lip. \"Oh, definitely not. You have to remember that we were only eleven at the time we met.\" She laughed. \"James and Sirius were so awful to him.\"

\"James and Sirius. That\'s Harry\'s father and his best friend, right?\"

She nodded. \"Your father hated them. They\'d do something to him and then he\'d do something to them. But seventh year, things changed. James was too involved with Lily to be bothered with irritating Severus. Then one day, we were assigned to work on a Muggle\'s Studies project.\"

\"Muggle Studies? Daddy?\"

Emily nodded. \"It was that or Divination. Anyway, the project took three weeks and on the last day, out of the blue, he kissed me.\"

Susana smiled. \"Was it a good kiss?\"

\"I felt it down to my toes. That\'s when I fell in love with him.\"

\"With Harry, it was instantaneous. I looked into his eyes and that was it. Momma, I\'ve known him for exactly a week and I don\'t want to live without him. I don\'t think I can.\"

Emily smiled at her daughter. \"You\'re destined to be together, baby.\"

Minerva entered the room with Harry behind her. \"I apologize for interrupting your conversation, but Albus suggested that we talk to Harry and Susana. He thinks they\'d be more comfortable.\"

Harry sat next to Susana.

Minerva sat opposite of them. \"I guess the best way to do this is to be blunt. Last night, the two of you committed yourselves to each other. Am I correct?\"

They grabbed each other\'s hands and nodded.

\"Afterwards, you were intimate?\"

\"Gran, I\'m not really comfortable...\"

Emily sat next to her daughter. \"Sweetheart, according to Grandfather, your prophecy has been fulfilled.\"

Susana looked at Harry.

Harry turned to McGonagall. \"What exactly does that mean Professor?\"

\"It means, Mr. Potter, that in nine months time, you and my granddaughter will become parents.\"

Susana suddenly became very dizzy and her body began to shake. \"I...I ...I\'m pregnant?\" Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Harry. She expected to see disgust and contempt in his eyes but instead, she saw what looked to be ... joy. \"Harry?\"

Harry had tears in his eyes as well, but his were tears of happiness. He kissed her. \"Thank you.\"

Susana was confused. \"Why are you thanking me?\"

\"Susana, I haven\'t had a proper family since I was a year old. You\'re giving me that. I love you.\" He brushed her hair from her face. \"Marry me?\"

\"Marry you?\"

He nodded. \"I know our entire relationship has been rushed, but I meant what I said last night. My life belongs to you. Marry me.\"

She nodded. \"Okay.\"

\"I hate to ruin the romance of the moment, but in a sense, you are married.\" Minerva informed them. \"But if you wish to do it formally, I\'m sure something can be arranged.\"

\"Nothing too big.\" Harry stated.

\"How about just family and a few friends?\" Susana suggested.

\"That sounds perfect.\" He kissed her.

A sudden feeling of dread washed over her. \"What about Daddy?\"

\"I\'ll talk to him.\" Harry pushed her hair behind her ear. \"That\'s the proper thing to do.\"

Harry found Severus Snape in his office. \"Might I have a word with you, sir?\"

He put his quill down. \"What is it, Potter?\"

He swallowed the lump that was in his throat. \"I wish to marry your daughter, sir.\"

Snape\'s face was cold. \"A little late to be asking for my blessing, don\'t you think? Considering you\'ve already committed to each other. You are just like your father. You take and take no matter if it doesn\'t belong to you.\"

Harry stood strong. \"But she does belong to me! She has since before we were born. I know you hate me ... and I know you hate me because of my father. But see, you have an advantage over me because I never knew him. Now, I love your daughter. We\'re having a baby. I\'d like to have your blessing for Susana\'s sake. She may not be particularly happy with you right now, but she still wants your approval. But know this, whether you approve or not, I\'m still going to marry her.\"

His beady eyes met Harry\'s. \"Do whatever you like, but I will never bless this union.\"

Harry shook his head. \"You are a truly pitiful man Severus Snape. You\'d deny your daughter happiness because of your own selfishness.\"

\"I\'m selfish?!\" He stood. \"I\'m the one who sacrificed my family and my happiness to ensure my daughter\'s safety.\"

\"Yes, but if it had not been for your involvement with Voldemort in the first place, she could have grown up with her father instead of believing that you didn\'t love her.\"

That seemed to hit a nerve.

\"Do as you wish, Potter, but I will not be a part of it.\"
