Chapter 7

Dahlia was sitting in the classroom as she had a sack of food in front of her. She pulled out the water bottle that had Firewhiskey in it. She had used a potion to make it colorless. She had a little more than a buzz but she was wanting more. Maybe if she was drunker Teddy would want to be with her more. He was with her when she was buzzed the more buzzed the more he would stay. Riven gave Dahlia a greatful kiss on the head as he sat down. He didn't bring up the smell of alcohol on her breath for fear she'd bring up the little reunion in the great hall in retaliation. So he quietly ate his food and followed the directions the teacher gave him. Dahlia was barely able to follow what the teacher said but obviously her slightly nodding head gave the teacher the impression that she was listening. She took a drink of her bottle sighing. Finally, Riven's curiosity couldn't be contained and he nudged Dahlia, whispering.

"Okay, why are you stoned in class? Or at all for that matter." Dahlia looked at Riven and shrugs.

"Feel like it."

"Oh, well, that makes perfect sense, then." Riven said, rolling his eyes.

Dahlia sighed before waiting for the class to end as she finishes off her bottle of whiskey. When the class is dismissed, Riven leans over his sister, blocking others' view as she drops the empty bottle into her bag. He sighs. He really shouldn't be protecting this, but above all, she was his sister. If she was determined to do what she wanted, he'd do what he could to keep it from getting out. He held out a hand to Dahlia.

"Need me to walk you to your next class?" he asked quietly.

Dahlia turns away and stands up.

"I can walk on my own thank you." she grabs her bag and gets up with a slight stumble.

Riven steadies her easily.

"Don't get your pride all bent out of shape. You'd be more embarrassed by faceplanting in front of everyone than by having your brother walk you to class." Dahlia glares at him.

"Shut up." she walks away from him.

Riven stares in hurt surprise at his twin sister's back before quickly gathering his things and making his way to Herbology with the Hufflepuffs, hoping none of them mentioned Ethan to him. Dahlia gets to her Care of MAgical Creatures class with Other Gryfindoors. Hagrid Gathered the class forward, displaying several chained creatures puffing smoke and smelling generally sulphurous and smokey.

"A'right there. Everyone gather 'round. We got 'ere a new breed theh Minist'ry's lettin' us breed here at 'Ogwarts!" He gestured to the four creatures with a wide hand.

"Pygmy Dragons!" The creatures did, indeed resemble dragons, all four shaped the same but with differing colors.

Their bright, metallic scales gleamed in the sunlight in hues of garnet, emerald, sapphire, and gold. They flapped their leathery wings and snorted smoke into the air, edging as far from the students as their chains would allow them to. Dahlia looks at the dragon and almost thinks that its Draco. It was pretty like he is. She sways slightly as the booze was clouding her mind.

"Now don' get too jittery, kids. They can' blow fire jus' yet. They're about half adult size now an' still have a sweet disposition." He reached out to pat the garnet dragon, who growled warningly and snapped at his hand with razor-sharp teeth.

Hagrid pulled away quickly.

"Ain' he cute? Now. Pair up, the lot o'you. I want a full seven inches on the diff'rence between adult and young dragon behavior as well as a decent drawin' of one or all of the pygmies!" Dahlia continues to sway but shakes her head fast.

She walks over to Dave who she just wanted to pair with since she couldnt be pair with Mimi being in another year. Dave offers Dahlia a shy smile and a quick glance before turning back to the emerald dragon. He holds out his hand enticingly, the large wrapped fish in it drawing the beagle-sized saurian near. It sniffed cautiously at his hand, snatching the fish from it and retreating a bit to eat and watch the pair warily. His wide green eyes stayed on them, the slits narrowing under the midday sun. Dahlia looks at the dragon tilting her head. She reached her hand out to it. The dragon backed the last few inches away that it's tether allowed it. It curled it's tail around it and laid it's crest back, showing it's teeth as her hand got closer. Dave shifted nervously.

"Er...D-Dahlia...Maybe you shouldn't...." Dahlia steps closer before reaching further.

The dragon, threatened and without anywhere to go, puffs a cloud of smoke at Dahlia, skittering to the side and staying at the furthest reach of it's tether. Dave stands up, reaching for Dahlia.

"Hey, you shouldn't mess with him...Dahlia." Dahlia pushes Dave away.

"I can handle myself Dave. Thank you." she steps over to the dragon.

"Hey calm down little one i wont hurt you." The dragon, having exhausted it's warning instincts, lashes out, it's glasslike teeth slicing into Dahlia's forearm before it draws back again, trying to make itself appear small.

No one in the class but Dave is looking, distracted by two of the other pygmy dragons trying to bully each other. Dave gasps, his face going white. Dahlia cries out in more shock than pain. The whiskey had numbed her nerves making little pain come. She grabs the bleeding wound. All at once, Hagrid seems to notice something wrong. He turns and grabs Dahlia by the back of her sweater, pulling her up so he can see what's happened.

"Wha'd you do, girlie?" He asked, frowning deeply at the wounds, but determining they're not nearly so bad as they look.

Not a moment later, there's a thud as a windswept Teddy leaps from his broom beside them. He's wearing his quidditch gear and obviously fresh from practice.

"Dahlia! God, what happened?!" Dahlia sways slightly as she holds her hand out to him which had blood on it.

"The dragon bit me... i guess i got to close." Hagrid shook his head.

"Righ' Lupin. Yer not in class, eh? Take 'er to theh hospital wing, would yeh?" Teddy nodded quickly, cradling Dahlia to him and rushing her toward the medical ward.

Dahlia holds her arm to keep it from bleeding as she leans into him. The booze continued to numb the pain. Once inside Hogwarts, Teddy's adrenaline seemed to be wearing off and he noticed a few things. First was that Dahlia seemed to be bleeding awfully fast and second was that she smelled like a brewery. He didn't slow in his rush to the medical ward, but did look at her questioningly.

"Have you been drinking?" Dahlia giggles slightly.

"Just a little... just for you." Teddy frowned in confusion, but didn't say anything as he burst through the hospital wing doors.

Jacob, having been folding linens, let out a startled yelp, holding one of the sheets to his chest like a frightened little girl. On seeing the truly alarming amount of blood pouring from Dahlia's arm, though, his eyes hardened and he swiftly grabbed several potions from a nearby shelf.

"On the bed." He directed Teddy succinctly.

Teddy complied easily, feeling week with the sight of Dahlia's injury. Jacob came to Dahlia's side and poured a potion down her throat. Dahlia gasped at the feeling of the potion hitting the firewhiskey ignited the fire. She cried out curling around her burning stomach. She clawed at the bed as she tried to cough to get rid of the fire but it wasnt working. Dahlia whimpers more as tears begin to slide down her cheeks at the continuing burn.

"Teddy...!" her voice was filled with terror and agony.

Jacob frose for a moment before swearing foully and running to his office for another potion. On his return, he straddled Dahlia, unconcernedly dragging her shirt up over her belly. He upended the small vial over her stomach, cupping his hands over it as it expanded into a foam and seemed to absorb into her stomach. Moments later the flame in her belly was quelled and Jacob sagged in relief. He yanked Dahlia's shirt back down and rose to go to his potions cabinet again, replatcing those he didn't use earlier and pulling down two more. Teddy just stared, his hands shaking and his hair gone short and white. Dahlia whimpers as the burn disappears. She breathes hard. She slowly looks up at Teddy tears continuing down her cheeks. Teddy cradles her head in his hands and touches his forehead to hers.

"Hey. You're okay, now, alright?"

"No, Mr. Lupin, I'm afraid you're quite mistaken." Jacob said as he came up beside the two.

"You, young lady," He began, staring hard at Dahlia.

"Nearly got yourself killed. As it is, I'm sure you have extensive internal burn damage and possibly some bleeding as well. You'll stay overnight and I'll have a word with the headmaster as to your unbelievable level of inebriation on school grounds. Mr. Lupin, you may go." Jacob's eyes were hard as diamonds and he seemed entirely serious, and angry, a very unusual occurance.

Dahlia whimpers and holds Teddy's hand.

"Please Teddy dont go. Im sorry im so sorry... i just wanted to feel better after what happened with Mimi... then i thought if i continued then it would keep you around since you liked being with me when i was drunk. Please dont leave." Teddy shakes his head in confusion.

"I didn't know you were drunk, Flora. I want you as you, that's all." Jacob frowned, but decided it might yield the best results if he just left the two to talk for a bit.

He handed Teddy two potions vials, indicating the smaller one first, before retreating into his office. Teddy popped the top to the smaller vial and offered it to Dahlia. Dahlia opened her mouth feeling its burn indicate its healing properties. Dahlia sniffs as tears slip down her cheeks.

"I've been in love with you for so long i would have done anything to make you love me." Teddy smoothed Dahlia's hair back.

Truly, he thought, it must be love. She looked like hell. He offered her the second vial, this one to coat her insides and help heal the wounds.

"You don't have to make me, Flora. I already do." Dahlia whimpers as she leans into him.

"God im sorry Teddy... im so sorry... i just i love you so much." Jacob pokes his head out of his office and clears his throat.

"Mr. Lupin. Classes begin again in twelve minutes. I suggest you not be late. Miss Potter, I'm afraid you'll be staying the night in the infirmary and I've scheduled a meeting with the headmaster for tomorrow morning. Think carefully about what you'll say. This could very easily mean an expulsion for you." He sounded very sad at that, but refused to leave the girl blameless.

He retreated again into his office to give the two of them a few more moments. Teddy kissed Dahlia's forehead, noting that her arm was already healed.

"I have to go..." Dahlia whimpers and kisses his lips softly.

"I hope im not expelled but im not holding my breath." Teddy snorted.

"You're Harry Potter's daughter and as close to related to the headmaster as you can get without actually *being* related. He won't expel you." He said, but even he didn't seem too sure.

Dahlia sniffs and pets his hair.

"Go to class... come see me when class is over." Teddy nods, kissing her forehead again before making his way out.

He had to get a note from Hagrid for being late, because there was no way he was going to class covered in his girlfriend's blood.
