Between Two Snakes

Hello loves! I am so sorry for the long wait, but I was burgled and evil thugs stole my laptop so I had to get a new one and that took time. Pity that witht he old laptop, also the chapters I've written are gone! But fret not, I will re-write them!

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

"Prince," Hermione called in a soft voice as she tore the sheets back and dropped to look under the bed.

Where could that puppy be?

"Prince, come out," she called looking in the closet and bathroom. She wiped a hand across her eyes as she grabbed her bag. He was probably in the common room growling at first years.

She ran down the stairs in hopes to find the puppy sitting at the fire.

No puppy in sight.

She quickly left the common room and raced through the halls walking at top speed calling for the dog.

But no matter where she turned, there was no sign of her dog. Prince had been such a smart puppy. Why had he run away?

She felt the tears in her eyes. She had only known the little sod for three days and was very attached to him.

He was so different from all the dogs she had known. Why did he leave her? Didn’t he know how much she loved him?

And she hadn't been able to find his favorite toy...the Hermione-doll.

She knew that no one could enter her floo. It was restricted to the use of Heads, including head boy and professors.

So he could not have been dog-napped while she slept unless he had gone to the common room.

He had stayed glued to her side for the most part.

So probably it was as Minerva had suspected. The dog had realized his mistake and flooed home again, by accident.

Hermione swiped her hand across her eyes as tears began to fall.

She veered away from the great hall and went for the dungeons.

Severus would be able to help her somehow.

She gasped when she collided with someone and felt herself falling backwards only to have strong arms envelop her and be drawn to a solid muscular chest.

She was sure it was Severus.

Draco sighed as he held the witch in his arms. He'd been thinking of her. He rubbed her back gently in slow circles.

"What's wrong, Hermione?" he whispered, resting his cheek on her head.

Hermione looked up in shock. The voice was nice, but it wasn't Severus'.

Draco smiled as she looked into his eyes, and he offered her a monogrammed handkerchief.

“Malfoy?” she asked in surprise.

"Draco, please," he said, "Why are you crying? Nothing I've done, I hope."

“Have you seen a little sheltie running around somewhere? I lost my dog!” she said and sobbed louder.

Draco’s lips quivered, and he blinked rapidly.

"I'm sure your dog is fine," he said, as Hermione took his handkerchief and wiped her eyes.

“My baby darling is not fine! He is not here with me! I know the Headmistress said he might be a wandering floo-in but I hoped he'd stay. I thought he liked me!”

"I'm sure he cares about you. He will come back. Sometimes dogs wander...it isn't that they don't love their mistress or master...it is just their nature. Trust me. I know about dogs."

“How can you know about dogs?” she asked and pouted.

"I have...er...had a dog at home. My mother breeds canine familiars. She likes shelties and Cavalier King Charles in particular. But she breeds several other types as well."

“That's nice, Draco,” she said, her voice struggling. So Malfoy had lots of dogs whilst her own was gone! She handed him back his handkerchief and pushed him away

"Hermione, look, I'm sure you'll see your puppy again soon."

She didn't look at him. He was one to talk. Her dog was GONE!

"Mr. Malfoy. Miss Granger, what is going on here?" a smooth voice asked. Severus thought his heart would stop when he saw Hermione clinging to that swotty pretty boy. He should have known. But at least he could take house points for public display of affection.

“Hermione was distraught about the loss of her dog. I was trying to help,” Draco said slowly.

"Your dog is gone?" Severus asked.

Hermione pushed Draco away a little more not noticing that she was still holding his handkerchief as she pressed close to him.

“Yes, he vanished. I can't find him anywhere, Professor.”

"I'm so sorry," Severus said, directing her down the hallway. "I think it would be wise if you take a small calming draught. I don't want your sadness to make you sick. You shouldn't go to class without having something."

Draco glared at his godfather. What was the old bastard playing at? Cuddling a witch half his age!

Draco stood there, rooted in his spot and still seething. How did Snape dare!
He was doing a fine job of comforting her. She had been clinging to him.

“Thank you for being so considerate to me, Severus,” she whispered as the older wizard led her to his office.

Severus smirked at Draco as he shut the door.

"You may always come to me with anything, Hermione," he said, allowing her to hide her face in his robes as he summoned a calming potion.

“Thank you, Severus. You are wonderful.”

"As are you," he whispered as she downed the potion.

“I guess I feel better now,” Hermione said and blushed.

“Would you like to come to dinner at my quarters? We could talk about whatever's on your mind.”

"I would like that," Hermione said, wiping her eyes on the handkerchief. "He took the toy of me with him."

“Dogs often take their favorite toys everywhere,” Severus said and patted her shoulder.

"I miss him," she said, biting her lip.

“I wish I could help you with that,” Severus murmured.

"It's my fault for liking the little thing when I knew that I was probably going to be giving him up."

“Hermione, you are a kind person. You loved a stray dog. Not many would.”

“But he was such an adorable pup! And so smart.”

"I wish he would come back," she said, jumping a little as a bell rang to signal that students had ten minutes to get to their first class.

“I'll see you for dinner, Hermione,” Severus said softly.

"It's all I have to look forward to today," Hermione said, forcing her lips up for a moment as she slipped out the door of the Professor's office.

“Let's go to class,” Draco said and took her arms.

Hermione leaned on Draco not knowing a pair of black eyes was watching them.

Draco smirked and wiggled his fingers at his godfather. The old fart didn't stand a chance against him. He was a Malfoy, young, handsome, brilliant, kind, rich. Everything a witch could want.

“We don't have to rush to class. The Headmistress will understand about the situation.”

Hermione whimpered, "I want my puppy back."

“Maybe he'll return. Who knows? Magical familiars are different from non-magical.”

"Why did he leave? I thought we were nice together. He could have been a bit nicer to Harry, but I think he was learning to be so," she said, as Draco rubbed her back.

This year she and Draco had been civil, not best friends but tolerable. Draco had changed a lot after the war so there was nothing of his past snottiness.

Draco smirked at the other Slytherins as he passed them in the hallway with his arm wrapped around Hermione's shoulders while she wiped her tears with his handkerchief from time to time.

“If I can help you somehow, let me know,” Draco said softly.

"Hermione! What's wrong?" Harry asked, walking forward quickly.

Draco pulled her close to his side and glared at Potty.

“Prince left!” Hermione said and hid her face in Draco's robe.

"Oh," Harry said, "Well, I can get you a better familiar. I'll get you a cat!"

Hermione's tears came harder as she dug her nails into Draco's robes.

“I want Prince back!”

"Who knew you were so insensitive?" Draco sneered, rubbing Hermione's back as she pressed closer.

"What is going on here?" Professor McGonagall asked, striding up to the threesome brusquely.

Hermione sniffed at Draco's robes and sighed. He smelled familiar, but she couldn't decide of what his scent reminded her.

“Everyone, to your places. Class is ready to begin!”

Hermione shoved a hand into her hair and tried to relax.

Draco sat at her side.

"Do you feel alright for class?"

“I can't miss class. I must concentrate!”

"Today, we will be turning desks into dogs."

Hermione burst into tears and rested her face in her arms.

Draco wrapped his arms around the sobbing witch.

“Professor, Miss Granger lost her dog today.”

The professor's eyes turned down, "You may be excused from class today. Mr. Malfoy, please take her to the Hospital Wing for a sedating potion."

“Right away, Professor.”

Hermione clung to Draco's arm. It just felt nice to have him next to her. She looked up at him. He had pretty grey eyes like her puppy had had.

Draco was polite. unlike other boys who did not fully respect her authority.

"Madam Pomfrey," Draco called as he led the beautiful young witch into the ward.

"Yes, Mr. Malfoy, what is the matter?"

“Miss Granger needs a sedative. She has lost her dog.”

"Oh you poor dear," the mediwitch said, as she poured a dose into a cup and handed it to her. "I'm writing a note to excuse you from class the rest of day, Miss Granger. You shouldn't be doing magic while you are upset."

“But I can't miss classes!” she protested through her sobs. Draco was very happy to be her shoulder to cry on.

“Miss Granger can rest here for a bit, if she wishes,” the mediwitch said.

"Mr. Malfoy, you may return to class."

Hermione clung to Draco's robe burying her face in them and breathing. He had a very soothing smell.

It felt almost like holding her puppy. She didn't know why Malfoy didn't protest, but she felt utterly comforted by his presence.

"Do you want me to stay?" Draco asked, tilting her chin up so she looked into his eyes.

“Yes, please,” she begged, looking up at the eyes which so resembled her lost puppy. Of course, magical familiars often had extraordinary eye colors, so silver was not too rare.

"Maybe you would like to go for a walk," he suggested. He would show off to the rest of the school that she was on his arm.

“Can we go outside? Maybe he got out and is lost?” she asked hopefully.

"We can look for him. I'm sure he is fine wherever he is."

Hermione sobbed louder. “He rescued me from a potions accident. He was a brave dog..”

"What was the cutest thing he did?"

“Everything about him was cute. Well, maybe not the way he tore at the Harry-doll, but otherwise he was charming.”

"Tore at a Harry-doll? I didn't know such things were mass-produced.."

“Yes, and also a doll of Ron, Snape, Minerva, me and many others. Some dolls are also made as dog toys.”

She would also neglect to tell Draco that the dog had a fixation on his picture in the yearbook.

"Yes, I know. I had a toy of me made for my old dog."

“That's sweet.”

Draco smiled.

“This might be a good chance to get to know you, Draco. We have been civil all year, but...”

"I would like to get to know you better, Hermione. I always have, but I was worried with the war and all. I think that it would be good to promote harmony amongst our two houses."

“Did you really? I mean...I am...a M—”

"Yeah, I know I said that all the time. But I was out for keeping my mum and dad and me safe. I think you being Potter's brain was enough to make you the Dark Lord's first mark. But if he knew I liked you, I think he would have used you to control me and my mum and dad."

“When did you start liking me?” she looked at him with big eyes.

"You know back in first year when you showed Weasley up and made the feather levitate. I think that was when. I could see you were a powerful witch. And you know Slytherins, we like power."

Hermione scowled. Now that was not very romantic.

"That was when you first got my attention...I think I first realized I had a crush on you when you hit me in third year. No one ever hit me before or told me that I was a jerk."

Hermione looked even more confused. Was he into pain? Fetish?

"I'm not into pain or anything...but when you spend your whole life never hearing 'no.' Well, it's not good. I never really thought of how my actions affected others. You made me think about it for the first time. And I realized I didn't want you to think poorly of me. I knew I had a fine start, and deserved to have you think so."

“But you hexed me! My teeth!” she said and stepped away from him.

"That was aimed at Potty, not you," Draco said. "And Potter started it!"

“Harry always said you started it. I mean this year you have behaved brilliantly with every one. It's like you're a different person.”

"Potty obviously suffers from compulsive lying. I'm trying to be a better person, so when I meet the right witch," Draco took her hand here and kissed it, "I won't make a big zero of it."

“But Draco...you don't know me...why so... suddenly?”

"Why so what?" he asked, looking into her eyes.

“We're graduating soon and...”

"I know. I also know that you have no boyfriend, and that you have not responded to any boy who asked you out with affirmative. You stated you wanted no distractions with the upcoming NEWTs. I've pointedly ignored all the girls throwing themselves at me for the same reason and not asked any girl throwing herself at me out either."

“But we may be so opposite. And your family...”

“My parents will support my choices.”

"My father and mother are not the people that you see in public. I bet you're not brave enough to come to my house on the first day after our NEWTs are over."

“Why would you want me there?”

"I would like you to see for yourself that we aren't the evil people you think we are. And moreover, I thought you might like meeting all the dogs."

“But it would not be proper. I mean...”

“What? It's simple. Boy likes girl. Boy asks girl out.”

"What would you want to date me for?"

“Because I can't imagine myself with another witch. You have a charming personality. And look wonderful.”

"You don't know anything about me," Hermione said, rolling her eyes.

"Ask me something that you don't think I would know the answer to about you, but be reasonable about it."

Hermione sat down on the bench near the lake and thought for a moment.

Draco sat down next to her.

“Come on, ask me?” he said, teasing her.

Hermione bit her lip. "Who is my favorite author?"

"Muggle or Wizard?" Draco asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

“Muggle!” she said with a wicked grin.

"As I've never seen you without a copy of Wuthering Heights, I am betting your favorite Muggle author is Emily Bronte."

Hermione gaped at him.

"How on earth?"

"I saw you reading it at Quidditch matches when I am not playing, and sometimes when I am."

“But...that's...”

"What? Go on ask another."

Draco leaned back on the bench and stretched his arms.

Hermione watched him stretch. he had a rather nice build. Long, but strong limbs. His uniform shirt stretched taut over his belly revealing the outline of abs.

"How do I take my tea, and what is my favorite kind?" Hermione asked, smirking at him.

"Lemon Chamomile, and you take it with honey and nothing else. You sometimes dip a scone in it."

Hermione's jaw dropped. How did he know.

"Ask a tough one," he encouraged.

“You won't be able to answer that...let's make a bet, shall we?”

"What kind of bet?" Draco asked, "If it involves me getting a kiss, I'm all for it!"

Hermione blushed. She just couldn't kiss Draco.

"You don't want to kiss me?" Draco asked, pouting. He pulled up his shirt a little to reveal his abs.

“It would not be proper.”

“Hermione, we're of age. Grad students. I don't think anyone will mind.”

"You've surely kissed Potter. He's been drooling and pining over you for at least two years."

“Harry...is sweet. He asked me out too.”

"And you told him he had to wait till after NEWTs, right? It's what you told Anthony, Blaise, and Justin according to them."

Hermione buried her face in her robes. 'They can't all be serious.'

"Is it so hard to believe that you are a gorgeous, sexy, sweet, desirable witch, that any wizard would trade his wand hand to have for his own?" Draco asked, turning her hand up and kissing it as he had seen Snape do. If she melted when the greaseball did it, how would she be with a proper, handsome suitor bestowing such affections?

“But it means I now have six men after me!” she grunted.

“Well you can just choose me and be happy.”

Hermione flushed. "I'm not even interested in Blaise, Anthony, or Theo."

“But you like me!” Draco said, puffing up and brushing off the robes covering his chest.

"I didn't say that," Hermione said. "Your father would never approve of your dating me." She trailed off as she mumbled the last part. "You're too handsome."

“Father would be delighted to meet you and show you that our family is not the epitome of evil.”

"That's just something dark wizards say," Hermione said, pushing her hair to one side to expose her neck as she tilted her head.

Draco stared at her neck imagining rubbing his nose in it.

"Now, if you don't mind, I have other places to be, and I want to be alone."

“I can escort you,” Draco offered, taking her arm.

Hermione withdrew her arm.

"How did we even get onto the topic of you wanting to date me?" Hermione asked, looking into his grey eyes. She began to tear as she remembered her puppy's eyes had been greyish silver as well.

“Well, I thought this is a good time as any. I mean, I need to find a worthy wife.”

"You thought a good time was when I told you that my dog was run away?" Hermione said, turning from him and racing down the hall toward Snape's office.

“Hermione, wait! I wanted to offer you comfort and a shoulder to cry on. I am actually nice to people I like.”

Hermione quickly opened up Severus' chambers and slipped in to sit on the couch warding the door. Why did Malfoy have to chose now? Selfish Prat.

Draco tried to call out for her, but it was hopeless.

Hermione sniffed against a pillow that had been on Snape's couch as she curled up in a ball.

"HERMIONE! Please let me in! Please!" Draco called, pounding on the wall that led to his godfather's quarters.

"Mr. Malfoy, are you trying to break into my quarters?"

“Granger went in! She deserves a detention!” Draco said.

"She is allowed," Professor Snape said, crossing his arms as he glared. "Especially if she wanted to get away from sexually harassing comments which you pass out like candy."

“But Severus, it is improper that she is in your rooms!”

"She is soon to be my apprentice, and will live with me for two years unless she marries," Severus said, patting his pocket and feeling the small box.

“She will be married before she is your apprentice!” Draco said and glared at his godfather curling his lip up.

Snape grabbed Draco's robes and pulled the boy close to his face, "Yes, and maybe to me. She is lovely. Don't overlook that she fled to me in her time of distress."

“She doesn't know that she has such a deep love for me!” Draco said, struggling to get away from the older man.

Snape shoved Draco into the wall.

"She doesn't love you, Boy. She loved a puppy that was nothing like you. She will fall in love with me."

“How can she fall in love with you? Frankly, I don’t see the appeal.”

Snape released Draco, "Well, I thought Potter was more your type anyway." Snape stalked into his quarters and stopped when he saw the sobbing witch on his couch.

“What's wrong?” he asked, already knowing the truth.

"Why did Malfoy have to wait to tell me that he liked me till I was vulnerable? Why does he think that I am going to just fall into his arms? Why does he remind me of Prince?" Hermione mumbled into the pillow as she pressed more down into the couch.

“Draco is a very confused and spoiled brat. He is not what you need, Hermione.”

"Thank you, Severus. Do you mind if I stay here the rest of the day? He was pounding on the wall. I don't want to see him.”

“You are welcome to stay for as long as you want. You are not imposing.”

"Thank you," Hermione said, standing up and hugging him.

Severus let her hug him. It was nice to be touched by a pretty witch.

Hermione put her arms up around his neck for a moment and drew him down kissing his cheek.

“You are so understanding. Boys don't understand how devastated I am,” she murmured, her little hand daring to touch his hair.

Snape waved a hand toward the wall allowing it to turn transparent for a moment so he could see Draco. He turned so Hermione's back was to Draco. He flipped his middle finger up at the swot before snapping his fingers and making it solid again.

He loved to rile on Draco. The spoiled brat deserved to be taken down a peg or two.

Draco growled. It was just so bloody unfair. Hermione should be in his arms, or he in hers. She loved him.

He was just as nice as he was in his puppy form. Just in his human form he would make her moan and forget her loss.

Maybe he should turn puppy and go to her through the floo. He sat down outside the wall and glared at it.

But then again, he would be waiting for indefinite amounts of time as he was sure the git would keep her in his hovel for ages.

He would go as puppy through the floo and crap all over the nasty bat's cave.

Draco turned into his puppy form with a small pop.

"WOOF! WOOF!" he cried and dashed to the wall and began to scratch it.

“Was that my puppy?” Hermione asked, her voice hopeful.

“No, it was just Peeves,” Severus said, secretly casting a silencing charm

“Oh Severus, I miss my puppy so much!” Hermione said and broke out in sobs.

"It will be alright. I promise. I wish I could go find him for you and make sure you could keep him on a short leash the rest of his days," Severus said, rubbing her back as he helped her to the couch.

Hermione curled up in his lap.

“Severus, you are a darling. If everyone knew you like this, then they'd not fear you at all.”

"Yes, and then half of them would be dead," Severus said, sniffing her hair a little: peaches and raspberries. His right hand slid up to cup the side of her neck as he sniffed.

Hermione leaned in to his touch. He was very comforting.

She pulled back a little till her nose touched his

Severus searched her face for a minute. Hermione leaned in tilting her head to press her lips to Severus'.

Severus responded to the kiss eagerly, but he broke the kiss soon.

“You shouldn't tempt me, witch.”

Hermione didn't say anything as she rested her cheek on his shoulder.

Severus felt rather good. The little git Draco was finally out of her life and she needed someone to love her.

"Can we stay here the rest of the day? Just the two of us?" Hermione asked. "You won't let Draco in, will you?"

“I won't let the boy in...and my classes are finished, I had planned to do some marking.'

“If I can help somehow, let me know. I think you have far too many layers on, Severus.”

"The dungeon can be quite cold, Miss Granger."

“If I hug you, will you be warmer?”

"I think so."

“And you smell very nice Severus.”

"You smell nice, too," he whispered sniffing her hair more.

“But my hair's a mess...”

"It smells like peaches," Severus said, leaning in and sniffing deeply.

“You're just saying this to me be nice.”

"No, it's true," he said, squeezing the young witch as close as he dared praying she wouldn't feel his reaction to her soft, womanly bum rubbing against his lap as she wiggled.

“You're very nice to me, Severus. I wonder why?”

"I am hoping you will accept my letter when I declare my intentions to court you," Severus said, "You are a gorgeous witch, and a remarkably kind one."

“You want to court me?” Hermione asked, her eyes wide in surprise.

"Yes, I do," he whispered. "But I know you would never look at me. I could be your father."

“Wizards age slower than Muggles. You probably have the health of a 30-something Muggle.”

"Hardly the point. The point is that I could be your father, and you would be right to not look at me. I am ashamed that I want you, you being so young and lovely. You must have dozens of wizards after you."

“I don't think anyone's after me, save for Harry.”

"Mr. Malfoy is definitely after you," Severus said, sniffing a little and glaring at a knot in the wood of the mantle.

“Don't make me laugh, Severus, that Greengrass girl nearly drools all over herself when she sees him.”

"Mr. Malfoy is definitely after you. How Miss Greengrass makes a fool of herself is not what would impress Lucius and Narcissa. They would be thrilled that she is so crazy for their son, but her idiocy is nothing that would allow their consent. Draco doesn't want to lose his inheritance, and he dislikes her more than his parents would."

“But aren't they after a pureblood bride? One that would continue the pure bloodline?”

"There are things more important than pureblood; you have those in abundance. And despite what most families tout, they have Muggleborns in them as they are not foolish enough to become too inbred. They saw what happened to the Blacks. Every generation they have a real wacko crop up. Bellatrix is tame compared to some of her predecessors."

“I didn't know that,” Hermione said, situating herself in his lap more comfortably. “But wouldn't the Malfoys at least choose someone rich?”

"They are the richest family in wizarding UK. They really don't need more money," Severus said, scowling more as he squeezed her.

“But Draco has never shown any indication he is interested in me.”

"Oh yes, he has. He stares at you like a lovesick puppy."

“He always sneers at me. That doesn't remind me,” she took a deep breath, steadying herself and trying to keep the tears at bay, “of a puppy.” Now she was really crying.

"Hermione, he watches you every day in the great hall. Stares at you. He saved you from the Slytherins who wanted to attack you. Let them know what he would do if they did."

“Slytherins wanted to attack me? When?”

"During your sixth year," Severus said, "in particular. Draco put one of them in the hospital wing for a month for it. I'm not sure of the specifics. What happens in Slytherin stay in house."

"Who?"

"Mr. Crabbe."

“My gods. So how do you know that Draco is staring at me? He may be staring at Lavender, she's pretty.”

"He is staring at you," Severus said, fighting his scowl as he set her off his lap and stood up to pace.

“Is that making you upset, Severus? I don't want to upset you. And I don’t like Draco at all.”

"My godson is the most eligible bachelor in wizarding Europe as soon as he graduates," Severus said, crossing his arms and staring into the fire.

"I know him, Miss Granger. I know what he wants."

“What does he want?” Hermione asked and stood up and came close to Severus.

"You for his wife. He will have you."

“It doesn't matter what he wants. Why would I want him?”

"He is handsome, rich, influential. Every girl wants to marry a Malfoy."

"And there is never more than one heir per generation, Miss Granger. The fortune will never be split."

“But I want someone smart, loving and caring. Money matters only as long as one can pay for the house and for the food on the table.”

"He is second in your class. You don't know much about the Malfoy family dynamics."

“What dynamics? It's not like he can bind me to him just because he wants to. I think you are very attractive, Severus,” Hermione purred and hugged him tightly.

"Miss Granger, this is not a good idea," he said unwrapping her arms and holding her out away from him.

“Why, Severus?” Hermione asked, pouting.

“He saw you enter my rooms. He might allege I was indecent with a student,” Severus said, looking away from her.

"But Severus, I am to be your apprentice. It is my understanding that most such relationships involve giving on both parts. I want to start."

"Miss Granger, if that is your opinion of me, you should leave right now," Severus said, looking into the fire as his cheeks burned.

“Why?” she asked, upset that Severus would send her away like that.

"You think that I would take advantage of you," he said, "I'm not that kind of man, Miss Granger. Besides you should be with someone your age. Someone handsome and more than able to get you anything you desire."

“So you want me to leave?” Hermione asked angrily. She had come here for support, but he was acting like a jerk. She didn't have the energy to deal with this now. She had just lost her beloved puppy.

"I don't want you to leave, but I feel that you are openly flirting with me. Your words make me feel like a cad. I would like to think that I am a gentleman."

“But you are a gentleman I would love to snog!”

"That is not something I can do while you are under my care, my student. You deserve better than that."

“I think I will go and leave you to your sulking then.” Hermione said and turned around and strode to the door.

"Wait," Severus said, taking her hand. "You will still come here for dinner, right?" His lip trembled as he looked into her eyes.

"If I am certain to receive a proper goodnight kiss," Hermione said, staring at his lips.

“But only a kiss. I can't promise you anything more.”

Hermione tilted her head opposite his.

"It would make me very happy to have just one kiss."

Severus drew her hand to his lips.

"I better go and get ready," Hermione said. "I need to look nice for an interview with a potions master who might take me as his apprentice."

“Yes, because that is what it will be."

Hermione slipped out through the wall and tripped over someone sitting on the floor.
