Chapter 6









Meanwhile Harry, Severus, and Ruthie were still in the Hospital wing.



“Sir, Ruthie and I will just step out so you can get dressed.” Harry said.



“That would be nice Potter.” Snape said sarcastically.



Harry and Ruthie walked over to the chair Hermione had been in earlier and sat down. A couple of minutes later Professor Snape walked out fully clothed.



“Well Potter let’s go.” Snape said while grabbing Ruthie’s hand.



“Mummy!” Ruthie yelled and started to run. “Mummy hurt.”



Harry and Snape stopped and watched the little girl. Then it clicked that something bad must be happening to Hermione so they ran after her. They caught up easily, and Snape picked her up.



“What’s wrong with your mummy little one?” He asked her



“Mummy hurt.” She said starting to cry.



When they finally got to the portrait they found it open and could hear someone inside.



“Potter take her and go get the Headmaster.” Snape said to Harry not realizing that Harry was walking into the room.



“Damn boy.” Snape said following him in.



“Ron what the hell are you doing?” Harry yelled.



“I think Mr. Weasley that if you’d like to keep all of your limbs in place, you should back away slowly.” Snape said pointing his wand at him.



“You don’t understand. Something must be wrong with her. How could she do this without telling us?” Ron started to whine. “She told us everything. It’s got to be a Polyjuice Potion or something.”



“No Ron, you don’t check Polyjuice by taking someone’s clothes off.” Harry said going over to the floo, and flooing the Headmaster.

“Headmaster I think you’d better get down here and bring Poppy with you.”



“We’ll be there directly Mr. Potter.” The Headmaster replied.



“Mummy.” Ruthie said walking over to Hermione. The other three adults had forgotten about her being there.



“Ruthie mummy is sleeping, why don’t we leave her alone.” Harry said walking over to her.



“No! I want mummy.” Ruthie wailed.



“Let me handle this Potter,” Snape said nudging Harry out of the way. “Let’s cover your mummy. She looks very tired.”



“Kay.” Ruthie said sniffing.



They got a blanket and walked over to Hermione. Severus tried hard not to look at her naked body but he is male. He noticed the bruising on her body and a trickle of blood coming from her head. He felt to make sure she still had a pulse. She did.



“Oh my, what happened in here?” Poppy asked.



“I think you should take Miss Granger to the hospital wing Poppy and run a full diagnostical on her.” Snape said.



“Do you really think so Severus?” She asked worriedly. She only ran the full one on someone if they believed the girl was raped.



“Yes Poppy, I’m afraid so.” He replied.



“I’d ask someone to explain, but I think I know what happened in here. Poppy you take Miss Granger with you; I’ll be up in a bit to check on her. Severus keep Ruthie with you. And Harry I think you better come with Ron and me.” Albus said.



“Well little one, it looks like you’re stuck with me.” Snape said to Ruthie. “Let’s go down to my chambers. I think we should be able to find something to interest you.”



Severus and Ruthie started down to his chambers. He wasn’t real sure what to do with an almost two year old. He decided to stop and see Filch on his way, because Mrs. Norris had a litter of kittens.



“I think that your about to loose a kitten there Mrs. Norris.” Filch said. “What do you think Professor; think she’s ready to have her own pet yet?”



“I don’t think her mother would appreciate that until we talk to her.”



“Pleese Sverus.” Ruthie begged.



“Alright but let’s keep it our secret for now.” Severus said smiling.



They took the kitten down to Severus’s chambers and Ruthie played with it on the floor. After a little while she laid down and the kitten curled up with her. Minutes later they were both fast asleep. Severus picked them both up and took them to his bed and laid them on there casting a charm to let him know when the little girl awoke. He went into his sitting room and floo called the Headmaster.



“Severus I was just about to come to see you.” Albus said.



“Well come through then.”



Albus stepped through the floo and sat down in a chair.



“What happened Albus?”



“Well Ron confessed everything. He said that he was afraid that it really was an imposter, and he also said something that was very disturbing. He said that Percy had a way of making sure that Miss Granger would be his. He didn’t go into much detail, but I’m wondering if there is something more to Percy than we knew. I sent him back home will explicit orders for Molly not to let him out of the house until it is time to come to school.”



“And what of Mr. Potter?”



“I’ve decided to let him stay. He’s in the hospital wing sitting with Miss Granger right now. Poppy is going to let me know when she wakes, so I can speak with her.”



“And did Poppy run all the tests.”



“Yes, He didn’t rape her. I imagine that he was minutes away when you three showed up.”



“I’ll kill the little bastard.”



“Now Severus calm down.”



“No Albus. You let the three of them get away with too much over the years. And you knew that Miss Granger had a daughter and you still let them do all of the things they did. We have enough casualties from this war, and you were going to let her orphan her own daughter?”



“Her daughter wouldn’t have been orphaned. Ruthie’s father would’ve been let know about the child.”



“So you know who Ruthie’s father is?”



“Yes Severus, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you.”



“Well why not. He should be here looking after her and Miss Granger. Not leaving it to someone else.”



“I’m afraid that it’s Miss Granger’s business. She doesn’t want the father to have anything to do with them. I’m sure in her own time she will let us know why.”



“Headmaster, Severus.” Poppy called through the floo. “Miss Granger is awake now. She’s asking for Ruthie, could one of you please bring her up?”



“We’ll be right there Poppy.” Albus said. “I’m sure you can bring the little one up. I’ll see you there shortly.”



Albus left and Severus went into his bedroom to wake Ruthie.



“Ruthie, wake up. Your mummy is awake and she wants to see you.”



“Mummy?”



“Yes little one.”



“Have to pee.”



Severus didn’t know what to do. He had never been around a child this age so he called for a house elf.



“Dobby is here Professor.”



“I need you to take Ruthie to the bathroom.”



“Okay.”



When they came back out Severus picked Ruthie up so they could floo up to the hospital wing.



“Mummy” Ruthie cried and ran over to her mother.



“Thank you professor, for looking after her. I just don’t know what I would’ve done if something happened to her. I mean what if I wouldn’t have left her up here this morning. What would he have done to her?” Hermione said starting to cry.



“Really Miss Granger, she’s okay. Don’t think of ‘what ifs’.” He said patting her arm.
