Cotton Candy
There were pitifully few items. A cheap watch emblazoned with a pirate looking person, a cheap beaded necklace, some hair clips. A tube of lip gloss flavored like cotton candy, an eye liner pencil colored black. But there was one item that caught his eye.
It was a silver bracelet with a wide part with something engraved on it. He squinted at the letters, smudged with fingerprints.
Mary Florence.
Severus glanced at her and back at the name. She was staring still at her hands. But when she saw the bracelet in his hands she gasped. Her eyes widened and she dared to look him in the face.
“Do you remember this?”
“I---I---I----.” She stammered and swallowed. Severus cringed. His tone had been harsher than he intended.
“Would you like it?” he offered in a gentler voice. It was a risk. It could trigger a memory for her, could make her remember just who she was, what she did, where she was from.
“May I?” she whispered. Severus nodded. He reached out and not unkindly took her wrist in his hands. He clasped the bracelet around her wrist. The girl graced him with the tiniest of smiles.
His heart stopped in his chest.
He knew that smile, had seen it ten thousand times before.

The tube took them to the train station. Severus walked briskly towards Platform Ten and Seven Twelfths. He looked at his side and realized with a stab of panic that Moonflower was not behind him.
Where was she? What if he had lost her? She could get hurt! She didn’t know how to tell someone she was lost, didn’t know how to ask for help, and couldn’t even really give her full name.
Anxiously, he scanned the crowds. She was there, weaving between people, aimlessly walking. There was a stricken look painted on her face. She was probably more frightened than he had been.
Severus was at her side in a few strides. He caught her tiny hand in his.
“Don’t get separated from me again.” He admonished. She seemed to shrink. He sighed and closed his eyes.
“Perhaps it would be best if you held onto me, Miss Moonflower.” He said stiffly. She could only nod timidly. Severus closed his eyes briefly. “I must warn you that what we are about to do will seem strange, and it is. I need you to act as natural as you can. Will you do that for me?”
“Of course,” she said it in a way that suggested she would have done such a thing naturally. Severus held fast to her hand and fairly dragged her towards the platform.
Part of the problem, eh realized, was the fact that his stride was so much greater than hers. She was practically jogging to keep up with him. Not easy in those heels. He was going to have to get her a pair of sensible shoes.
Sensible shoes like---, no no, he scolded himself. Best not to think about that right now. He sucked in a breath and walked towards the barrier.
