Chapter Seven: Elan, Victoire, and the Upperclassmen
Albus looked over at Scorpius as he realized the only seat left was next to them, “Scorpius? We have a problem.”
No sooner had the words left his mouth when Gale started towards their table. Scorpius glanced out of the corner of his silver eyes at what the entire rest of the school was calling the black-haired, blue-eyed, snake-charming devil. It wasn’t just Albus and Scorpius that he’d rub against wrongly. Albus seen Scorpius swallow nervously.
Albus nudged Scorpius in the ribs while he muttered out of the corner of his mouth, “And you said you weren’t afraid of snakes.”
“I’m not afraid of snakes.” Scorpius protested in a whisper, “Just of him.”
Albus rolled his eyes but didn’t say anything more as Gale slid into the seat next to his fellow Slytherins.
“Hey.” Gale said giving both of them a smile, “Too bad we have this class with a group of Gryffindorks huh?”
Albus gave Gale a small glare, “My brother is a Gryffindor thank you very much.”
Gale stopped in the middle of putting his things into order on the desk then winked at Albus, “Sorry, man, just showing some house spirit.”
“You know house rivalry is just plain stupid.” Scorpius muttered as he started copying professor Sinistra’s notes onto his parchment, “That whole thing went down with the dark lord.”
Albus just shook his head but out of the corner of his eye he saw Gale’s jaw tighten. Albus flicked his gaze to Scorpius and tried to signal him without arousing Gale’s suspicion. The blonde shook his head then nodded towards Gale before returning to his notes. Albus groaned mentally then started in on his own notes to try to get his mind where it should be.
A few moments later an explosion rocked the entire castle and had all the first years on their feet. Albus calmed after a moment and looked at Scorpius, “They weren’t supposed to mess with the potions just for this reason.”
“The twins, you mean?” Scorpius asked over the sound of the students rushing out to see what happened.
“Yeah, let’s go find them before Sinistra notices us leaving.” Albus said into Scorpius’s ear before tugging him out the door and off towards the rhythm of explosions and whistles that nearly gave away the twins’ position, if not for the solid wall blocking their path.
“Oh!” Scorpius exclaimed as they heard another whistle, “Elan told me about this place! It’s the room of requirement. You walk past the wall three times thinking about what you want and the door appears to a room full of whatever you want it to be.”
Albus smirked, “Cool. Let’s try it out!”
Scorpius nodded and proceeded to follow his fellow Slytherin in a marching pace back and forth in front of the seemingly solid wall. After a few seconds the door appeared and they knocked on it.
“Gage, Fred, you in there?” Albus asked before opening the door and tugging Scorpius in after him. Soon after both boys stopped and raised their eyebrows, “What are you all doing in here?”
It wasn’t just Gage and Fred Weasley in the room but also Scorpius’s older brother Elan, Albus’s cousin Victoire, and a few other upperclassmen that they didn’t know. Scorpius stomped his foot dramatically, “We weren’t invited to the party?!”
Elan, who looked almost identical to his younger brother, walked over and ruffled Scorpius’s hair causing the younger boy to almost squeal in protest, “Chill out we knew you’d come to find out what the noise was.”
“We’re not that predictable are we?” Albus asked as they got in and closed the door behind them, “I mean, if we are, that would suck.”
“You’re first years.” Gage said as he lit another firework, “First years are always predictable.”
Victoire came over in what seemed like a glide and brushed her white-gold hair behind her shoulder, “Welcome to our little club.”
Elan smiled and leaned back against a wall with his hands behind his back then winked at another upper class girl that was in the corner who blushed, “This is just a place we come to chill but since you both are first years and we’re the upperclassmen we decided you needed a little…..Victoire what was the word you used?”
“Initiation.”
“Yes. You two needed a little initiation into Hogwarts.” Elan smiled and ran his fingers through his white-blonde hair while smiling at the boys, “And since you both have older brothers at Hogwarts we decided to be the ones to give it to you.”
“Wait a sec…” Albus turned around to be face to face with James, “I knew you’d be here!”
“Well duh, he just mentioned me.” James smirked and messed up Albus’s hair before walking over to lean on the wall next to Elan in the same relaxed pose.
“So this initiation….” Scorpius started nervously glancing to each person, “What exactly does it involve?”
“Well,” Gage said as he twirled a strand of his twin’s hair between his fingers, “First, since you two and Leon are the only three with older siblings in our little club you’re selected to be put through the test.”
“The test is given to each of you at one time and you’re supposed to work together to complete it.” Fred continued for his twin, “If you complete it within the time limit we assign, you’re in.”
“If you don’t complete it, you get shunned from the group like a sad stray dog would be.” Gage smiles.
Fred smiled at his twin and they both act like they’re pushing someone away, “Shun the non-completer. Shunnnnn.”
Elan rolled his eyes and then came over to the two boys, “Leon’s in the dungeons so he probably didn’t hear the explosions so…we’re going to tell you and you have to retell it to him.”
“But make sure no one else finds out or overhears.” Victoire added in, “That’s another rule. If anyone, including teachers, finds out what you’re doing you’ll be forfeited from the task.”
James nodded, “So your task has two parts. You can choose a darker path or a lighter path to your task. The real task is to make the three of you stand out. The ‘sub-tasks’ as we call them are pretty much either you save the school somehow or you do something gruesome.”
Gage smirked, “Fred and I made Old Filch have a minor heart attack and accidentally killed his cat.”
“Accidentally.” Fred nodded before they both burst into fits of laughter, “Dad loved that one.”
“There’s one loop-hole” Gage informed Albus through fits of giggles, “people can find out AFTER you complete the task. We told Dad after we completed ours. We figure if they find out you did it for a club you get out of trouble. But you really don’t want to tell anyone if you ‘save’ the school.”
“Well that’s abundantly obvious.” Scorpius said sarcastically as he crossed his arms.
“Calm down little guy.” Elan said messing up Scorpius’s hair and then leaning back against his wall again, “So are you two going to go get telling Leon what’s going on?”
“Maybe I don’t wanna.” Scorpius huffed making the rest in the room, except Elan, hide their snickers. Albus smiled at the look on Elan’s face knowing Scorpius was just giving his brother a hard time.
“Come on Scorpius.” Albus said coming over to the blonde, “Let’s go find Leon and leave them alone for awhile. We’ve got to decide which way we want to take this.”
James looked shocked, “You wouldn’t be thinking of the Dark side would you little brother?”
“Why not? They’ve got cookies.” Albus smiled, opened the door, shoved Scorpius out first, and then followed closing the door behind him.
Scorpius raised an eyebrow as they walked back down towards the dungeons, “The Dark Side has cookies?”
“Well duh.” Albus said smiling, “How else do you think they stay amazing?”
Scorpius rolled his eyes and muttered something about crazy people as they reached the wall that was the entrance to their common room, “Nessun Dorma.”
They walked into their common room and set down their bags on the couch before turning to go to the potions room to find Leon to be face to face with Gale.
“Where did you two go?” Gale asked curiously as he set his stuff down next to theirs. Albus’s hand twitched nervously when he heard something in the bag hiss.
“We umm….” Scorpius stepped on Albus’s foot, “Al was feeling sick so we left to go to the hospital wing.”
Albus held his stomach and groaned in pain though it was really his foot hurting, “I’m not feeling so well again.”
Scorpius put his arm under Albus’s then glanced at Gale, “Careful he puked not long after we left.”
Gale’s nose twitched up, “Really?” he took a step away from the two, “Well you two better get him back up there so Madam Pomfry can take care of him.”
Scorpius nodded and helped edge Albus around Gale and out the door before Gale could say another word. After the door closed they still kept up the act till they turned the corner.
Albus pulled away finally, “Dude he’s EVERYWHERE!”
Scorpius shushed him, “Calm down and be quiet I think he’s stalking us. We’ve got to figure out someway to deal with him.”
Albus nodded, “That should be what we do for our task. Let’s tell Leon.”
AN: I'm in the process of writing chapter 8 and I've got some big surprises in for you all! but in order for me to type it up and post it you have to give me at least 5 more reviews. I think that's enough for posting chapters 2-7 in about 10 minutes hm?
