part 7

~*~

Harry walked into Potions a week later followed by Ron and Hermione. He was nervous about being in Snape’s class, he desperately didn’t want the man to find out about the baby because he surely would want Harry to get rid of it and that was the last thing the Gryffindor wanted to do. It was a part of him now, and nothing could change that.

They took their seats at the back of the class room and took out their books while they awaited the arrival of their teacher. They didn’t have to wait long before the heavy door slammed shut and in a billow of black fabric Snape was standing in front of the class.

“Today we will be brewing the potion that we have been talking about all week. Because it is an infusion of wormwood and puffapod, you will be working in partners,” Snape drawled in a low, monotone voice.

After he had taken a seat behind his desk, everyone choose partners and began getting their ingredients. Hermione thought that it was best if she worked with Harry incase of any accidents, so Ron paired up with Dean. It wasn’t a difficult potion but brewing these days seemed to make Harry a bit uneasy.

“Longbottom, if you drop another Puffapod seed, you will be serving detention with Filch tonight,” At the sound of Snape’s voice, Harry looked up to see that Neville had already dropped quite a few on his way to his desk and was trying to clean up all the little flowers that had sprouted from the seeds.

Harry looked back down to see his partner adding another ingredient to their cauldron. He kept stirring, once clockwise, twice counterclockwise. After about an hour of adding ingredients and stirring the mixture it was finally the right shade of brown with a hint of a silver swirl.

The dark hared professor stood after checking the time, “Times up, clean up your mess and bottle your potions and place them on my desk.”

Harry and Hermione cleaned up their ingredients and bottled their potion, clearly marking it with their names. Harry was packing up his books while his friends waited for him.

“Go ahead guys, I‘ll catch up with you in the common room,” Harry said, taking his time. He was hoping to have a word with his professor, maybe he’d tell him after all. He knew that it was best if his child knew it’s father, and was hopeful that Snape would step up and take responsibility.

After almost everyone was gone, Harry approached Snape’s desk, “Uhh, Professor, I was wondering if I could talk to you?”

Snape looked up at the brunet, but seeing Draco out of the corner of his eye, had no real desire to speak to Harry today, “No, I‘m busy.”

“But Professor…” Harry started but noticed that this only seemed to enrage his teacher.

“I said no, Potter. Come back some other time. I‘m busy now.”

Not wanting to make him even madder, Harry turned and left to meet his friends in the common room. Maybe it was better that Snape didn’t know, Harry though to himself on his way back. He’d more than likely say that it wasn’t his, or that he didn’t want it anyway. He might try to make Harry abort it, and Harry really didn’t want to do that. Even if he had to raise this child alone, he was keeping it.

“Well, mate, what did he say?” Ron asked later that night while they were sitting alone in the common room in front of a warm fire.

“Nothing,” Harry muttered.

Hermione looked up from the book that she was reading on her lap, “Nothing, you did tell him, didn‘t you?”

Harry stared blankly into the orange flames, “Well, he didn‘t really give me that chance. When I asked him if I could talk to him, he said ‘no’ and that he was busy.”

“Are you still going to tell him?” asked Ron.

“I don‘t know, he doesn‘t seem to want to know. You‘d think that he‘d at least give me a chance,” Harry replied not taking his eyes from the flames that were dancing in the hearth.

“Maybe he‘ll come around, I mean you can‘t hide it for much longer,” Hermione said as she went back to reading.

Harry nodded in agreement, “Did you find out anything for me?”

The frizzy haired witch sat up, closing her book, “yeah, I did. You know, it‘s really not much different from a female pregnancy really.”

“What do you mean?” The pregnant boy asked.

“Well, you‘ll still progress the same way. A full 9 months of being pregnant, equipped with mood swings, swelling, and tiredness. Then when you have the baby, your body will make slight arrangements so that you can have a normal birth,” she explained.

“Mood swings, what fun!”

“It won‘t be that bad, Mate,” Ron tried to reassure him. “It‘ll all be over before you know it and you‘ll be holding a little bundle of joy in your arms.”

“I just wish I had someone I could talk to who‘s been through it before.”

“Oi, why not talk to my mum about it, I mean she‘s had seven of us?”

“Yeah, I could hear that conversation now,” Harry said sarcastically, “Oi, Molly, I‘m pregnant with Severus Snape’s child and I need to know what to look forward to.”

Hermione shook her head, “Well, that‘s one way to ask, though I wouldn‘t do it. I‘d start by telling her that you are pregnant, NOT by who. Then I‘d ask her questions.”

“Yeah, right. She‘ll fuss over me, and I really don‘t want that right now.”

Ron tried to sympathize, “I know, Mate. Maybe you should just go talk to Pomfery, she‘d be able to help for sure.”

Harry nodded, “Maybe I will, but not now,” he stiffled a yawn, “Too tired, I‘m going to bed.”

He bid them goodnight and went up to the dorm to change. He fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit his pillow. Tomorrow he had an appointment with the school nurse, maybe he’d talk with her about what he was to expect in the upcoming months. He couldn’t wait to go to Grimmald Place for the hols. He missed Sirius and was sure that Remus would be there as well. The werewolf practically lived there with Sirius and Harry was sure that there was something going on between them, though Sirius had never said anything about it.
