Disclaimer:
I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
What Do You Really Think?
By the way Alabaster, your idea of the shipwreck off of the coast of Zimbabwe is a good idea...I did mention that I planned to kill off two characters, right? I will definately keep that in mind when I get there...It will be several chapters away though...
Molly Weasley had mixed feelings about this new Marriage Law. Especially now that the pairing had been done. As she stood in front of the sink washing the dishes from lunch she thought of her individual children. She was happy that Hermione would be marrying into the family but she wondered what kind of relationship she and George would have. Molly thought that George might be a bit much for Hermione the bookworm. She had always pictured Hermione with a more intellectual type, even though secretly she had hoped for a match between her and Ron. She had always thought that Ron needed a very strong willed and mature woman.
Which lead her to thoughts of Ron with Luna Lovegood. Now that was a strange match. Luna tended to drift off into her own world most of the time, and Ron was also a very self-absorbed individual. How would two people who were so focused in their individual lives ever learn to live together? She had a feeling that the two of them would spend very little time together.
Percy would be fine Susan Bones. She was the quiet intellectual type that would appeal to Percy, and she also had a backbone to her so Molly knew that Percy would not be able to control her. They would have common interests together and would surprisingly make a good match in her opinion.
The match that had Molly the most concerned was Fred and Pansy Parkinson. Now that was a match made in hell. Pansy was used to being a pampered little princess who always got her way. She knew that Fred would never give into her childish temper tantrums and demands. They would spend most of their marriage fighting. Neither one of them would ever back down from a fight. George might have done better with Pansy as he was the more mild mannered twin, but Molly really couldn’t see Pansy fitting in well with her family. She hoped that Fred wouldn’t do something stupid.
She wondered what all of her children thought of these new events in their lives.
“Arthur, can you believe that all of our babies are going to be married soon?” she asked her husband.
“Well it had to eventually happen. They couldn’t stay babies forever.” He smiled at the love of his life and mother of his children.
“What do you think of all of our future in-laws?”
“I am a bit concerned with the Parkinson chit, but I think that the rest will fit in fine.” He said with a smile. “It will be interesting to see how Fred deals with her.“
“I hope that he doesn’t do anything stupid.” She said with her hands on her ample hips.
“Molly, you know he'll do something stupid.”
“Well, lets hope it's not anything to stupid,” she said with a shudder. “I would hate for the Parkinson family to start a war over this!”
“Where Fred is concerned, expect the worse and hope for the best. He may yet surprise us someday.” Arthur said with a hint of fatherly pride.
Molly just snorted and went back to washing the dishes.
Hermione sat on the couch in front of the fireplace in the living room thinking. She was pleased with the outcome of the day. She would still get to remain part of the family she had come to love as her own. She wasn’t completely sure of a life with George, he tended to not take very much seriously, but he was better than Malfoy or Ron! She also knew that physically, they would be compatible. The kiss that they shared on the stairs last week was a good indication of that. Briefly, she wondered why he hadn’t tried to kiss her since. In fact, now that she thought about it, she had seen very little of George in the past week. Perhaps he was avoiding her?
That got her attention. Was George avoiding her? She didn’t like that idea at all. Maybe he wasn’t happy with this match. Hermione decided to go look for him so that they could have a talk. With a frown on her face she went searching through the house looking for her future husband.
Harry, Ron, Fred, George and Percy were all at the burrow. It had been awhile since anyone had been there, and Molly was concerned with Bogarts over taking the house while she was gone. She sent the boys over to clear out any unwanted creatures.
They had abandoned that endeavor about five minutes after they got there and instead, they organized an impromptu quidditch game. It was Ron and Fred against Harry and George. Percy decided to stand on ground and whine about how Molly was going to kill them for not completing their assigned task.
“Oh stuff it you git!” Fred yelled to his brother. “We haven’t played in awhile, and I for one would rather play Quidditch than clear out all the creatures around here who decided to move in. If you want to do, then go ahead, but I don’t want to hear anymore whining. I know where Ron gets it from and I can tell you, Percy, you haven’t done baby Ronnie any favors by rubbing that trait off on him!”
“Hey!” Ron complained.
“He’s got a point there, Ron,” George said. “You are starting to sound more and more like Percy everyday, only throw mum’s temper in on it!”
“I don’t sound like that git, do I Harry?” he demanded of his best friend.
Harry tried to pretend he didn’t hear the question and said, “Come on you guys, lets do this!”
“Harry!”
“You know Ron, if you are unappreciated with this bunch, you can always come and help me.” Percy told him.
“Thanks, but I would rather be unappreciated!” Ron said jumping up on his broom and getting as far away from Percy as he could. He did not like being compared to Percy at all
“Hi Hermione,” Percy said as she walked up to him. “I haven’t gotten a chance to welcome you into the family yet. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding to my brother. I am sure that the two of you will be very happy.”
“Thanks, that’s really nice of you. I am sure that you and Susan will be happy also.” She smiled to him.
“I am grateful for this match. It could have gone a lot worse. I could be like Fred and be stuck with someone like Pansy Parkinson. Although, politically speaking, she probably could have done more to help my career. Her family is well placed after all.”
Hermione rolled her eyes at him. “You would rather have an aspiring political career than peace in your household?”
“Who needs peace in my household? If I had a political career I would be married to my job, and I would never have to see her!”
Hermione snorted with laughter. “You might be on to something there.”
“Did Mum send you to check on our progress?”
“Not really. I came to speak with George, but she did ask that I remind you guys that you are here to clean and not to play Quidditch.”
Percy shook his head in disgust. “Like I would waste time playing that game!” He looked around the over grown yard of his home and shook his head again. “I think while these idiots are playing this game I am going to get a book and sit in the shade under that willow tree. Its better than listening to this.”
Hermione shaded her eyes from the sun and looked up into the sky to see if she could find George. She noticed him flying towards her.
“George!” she yelled to him.
George saw Hermione standing on the ground talking to his know-it-all brother. God only knew what that idiot was saying to her. With an evil grin on his face he pointed his broom down and flew straight at her.
Hermione watched him fly towards her. He was flying quite fast, but she wasn’t worried. She knew that he was a great flyer. He would probably do something dramatic like fly right to her and stop in the very last possible second. She stood her ground quietly waiting for him to stop.
“Aaaaahhh!” she screeched when she felt his hands reach out and grab her. He pulled her into his lap on the broom and kept going.
“George! What it Merlin’s name are you doing?” she screamed at him in horror and shock. She was not a flyer and was scared to death of heights. “Let me down this instance!”
“Oh no, my future wife, up here, I can have you all to myself without a single interruption.” He said as he leaned forward and kissed her pink, wet lips.
A/N: Let me know if you think that this story is moving along to slow. I am kind of trying to decide if I should pick up the pace or keep it slow and develop the plot more. Please keep reviewing; I love to here everyone’s opinions. I didn’t hear much from you guys on whether or not you liked my pairings.
