“Don’t you dare!”
Harry dangled the key over his open mouth.
“Don’t!”
Harry did. He released the key into his mouth and swallowed it.
“Bastard!” Draco snarled, trying to break free of the restraints around his wrists.
“Now, now, Malfoy,” said Harry, running a hand up Draco’s cheek. “Don’t be like that. It’ll be back . . . sometime tomorrow.”
Draco jerked his head away. “That’s disgusting!”
“Not as disgusting as what you did to those Muggles.” Harry grasped Draco’s chin and forced Draco to look at him. “Did you enjoy torturing them to death?”
“It . . . wasn’t . . . me!”
“I don’t know if I should believe you—I need proof that you didn’t do it.”
“My wand,” said Draco desperately. “Check my wand!”
“Where is it?” Harry let go of Draco’s face.
“Somewhere in The Leaky Cauldron . . . . It was knocked out of my hand…”
“Tell me who killed those Muggles, and maybe I’ll believe you.”
Draco hung his head. “I don’t know who did… I was unconscious…”
“If you’re not telling the truth, Malfoy, then I’m making you watch the key come back.”
