Chapter 7
After tearing up and burning the journal entry, Draco felt conflicted. He was actually considering telling Harry that he did indeed have feelings for him. He just wasn’t ready for Harry to know about his unorthodox coping mechanism. It had been several years since Draco had actually resorted to sucking off Snape to make himself feel better. But being here after years away, being here after loosing his mother, somehow made him feel alone and vulnerable. This time however, bringing Snape to climax did not hold the same relief as when he was a student. Somehow he still ended up feeling empty inside afterwards. Not like when he had kissed Harry. Harry’s kiss left him feeling whole, feeling complete. Harry’s embrace reminded him of being safe.

In the Great Hall, professors had assigned seating. To the left of the headmaster sat the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, and to his left sat the Potions master. After knowing these two young men for almost their entire life, Snape had become quite adept at detecting when their was angst between the two. Actually, it didn’t take any special gift to perceive it, it was fairly apparent. And this time, it was clear that for some reason, Malfoy was silent. Malfoy, the man who loved any opportunity to boast about his day, Malfoy, the man who loved to one-up Potter, Malfoy, the man who was doing anything he could to NOT look at Potter.
And what was that expression on Potter’s face? Was it guilt? Embarrassment? He looked heartbroken. Interesting, thought Snape, What have these two prodigies been up to?
Unfortunately due to recent events, Snape needed these two at the top of their craft. He needed the two of them to be able to trust in each other, to rely upon the other … and much to “Mr. Snapey’s” dismay, that would mean that Malfoy would have to channel his energies away from him and more towards Potter. “Professors, I do not know what has caused this delicious silence, but after dinner, it is essential that I see the both of you in my office. Prepare to be there awhile.”
Great. Just great, Malfoy thought.

“I do not know what has been going on between the two of you lately, but some recent events have transpired that will necessitate the both of you to work with each other, and unfortunately, what ever ‘issues’ you have need to be worked out this very evening,” Snape informed.
Both professors looked as if they had both been given a detention.
“And I want both of you to bring your journals,” Snape commanded.
Bloody brilliant. This is going from bad to worse, Malfoy thought.
How did he know I was keeping a journal, thought Harry.

Author's note: I've been in a zone where I've been writing these "mini-chapters". It's a way that I can actually write a little bit each day and share a new chapter each day. I posted chapter one on an online community and received a comment that it was too short. Since you are a dedicated reader ... what are your thoughts? A little bit each day ... or longer chapters every few days?
Thanks for your feedback!
