Chapter 6
I jump around a lot in this chapter cause, well I was bored and it just sorta came out that way. Hope you like it though, and again sorry for the perpetual lateness.

Chapter 6
Usually I enjoyed spending time with my godfather, going to him late at night and talking about different things, getting advice from him, but right now I was ready to curse him… or maybe bite him.
I was so unbearably hungry. It was just my luck that my instincts would choose such a pig-headed mate. I couldn’t imagine a worse mate that ‘Harry Potter.’
Well besides Ron Weasley. And Neville Longbottom, Merlin would that be embarrassing. And Granger would be far too annoying I’d kill myself if my instincts even thought of leading me in her direction. Then there’s Bulstrode and Pansy; far too much inbreeding going on there. Obviously not Crabe or Goyle, or those Crevey brothers, or that 6th year Hufflepuff, or any Hufflepuff.
Alright so I suppose Potter’s not too bad, but at least all of them understand and respect the traditions and laws. What a bloody prat, making me starve. Thinking I would drink from his wrist, it’s so less intimate than the neck and how else am I going to get close enough to get in his pants.
“Draco are you listening.”
Oops.
Severus looked away in exasperation, but I shrugged it off.
“Look you need to work things out between you and Potter. If you keep going like you are you’re going to push him to something drastic.”
“What’s he going to do Sev?”
“Don’t massacre my name. He’s a Gryffindor, I’m sure he can come up with something completely idiotic.”
I couldn’t argue with that.
“If you plan to get anywhere with him you need to stop acting like you’re his master and that he must obey you; you’re going to have to make some compromises. Or at least use your Slytherin talents to convince him that you’re making compromises.”
I smirked at that, the perfect advice from one Slytherin to another, just one problem.
“But I haven’t done anything wrong!”
Severus raised one eyebrow and looked at me cynically.
“I’m serious. First of all getting him to accept me as his mate, there was no other option. Then obviously he’s going to sit with his mate at meals, and sleep in the same bed as him. Why he won’t let me touch him or drink from his neck, I don’t know.”
“Draco, this is what I’m talking about. If you continue to try to force him into something, he’s just going to fight you more.”
“It worked the first time.” I groused, thinking about how I got all the school to shun Harry until he caved. Though the attack on him by the Gryffindors wasn’t planned and they would have to be punished somehow.
“Draco trust me. Harry’s not completely like the other Gryffindors, he might do stupid things but there’s usually an underlying meaning to them. You can’t treat him like the other Gryffindors, there’s something… Slytherin about him; I’m disturbed to say.”
I looked at him skeptically, I was about to argue that statement when I felt a little buzz at my senses. Something weird was going on, oh well, I’d figure it out eventually.
“Just promise me you’ll think about it.” Severus said exasperatedly, obviously at the limit of his patience for dealing with me.
“Sure Sev.” I told him with a smirk as I gathered my book bag.
“Don’t massacre my name, and get out.”
I gave him a careless wave over my shoulder before shutting his door. Blaise had said they would meet me in the Library to hang out. We never went to the common room anymore since the lower classmen were always around there, but we could talk all we wanted in the Library, not like Madame Pince would dare to shush us.
The buzzing seemed to be getting louder, and I tried to pop my ears to get the noise to stop, but it didn’t change.
I gave up and entered the Library, my group was in the same spot as usual and they immediately made room for me.
“Where’s your pet?”
“Eh, I let him off the leash for now.” I said with a smirk, getting laughs from the Slytherins around me.
I relaxed for a while, letting the words of those around me drown out the buzzing, which seemed to be getting louder.
“Hey, um… Mr. uh I mean, Malfoy?”
I glanced up to see some quivering kid. I swear they look younger every year.
“Harry Potter… I mean your mate. He’s in the hospital wing.”
I think I get what the buzzing was.

“I don’t know what has been going on with Harry. He’s turned into such a snob.” I sat back and watched Hermione pace back and forth; she looked beautiful when she was furious. “I mean he should be happy, grateful that he got chosen. He doesn’t understand how lucky he is, how many opportunities that opens up for him.
I had to admit that she had a point. I was getting so sick of his shit. He had everything I’ve ever wanted and now he was complaining about it! At least this was our last year of school and we wouldn’t have to deal with him anymore.
I just hope he finally kills the dark lord before getting us killed.
I glanced over the lake and scanned the area around us, vaguely listening to the continued ranting of my girlfriend.
“Hey is that Harry?” I asked catching sight of someone, he looked like he had been attacked.
The next thing I knew the whomping willow lashed out and his body went flying. He looked like a rag doll, flung so easily through the air.
Everything seemed unbearably silent, and then Hermione was screaming.

When I first heard that my mate was in the hospital I felt unbelievably annoyed, he better not have tried to kill himself. I had seen the cuts on his arm but didn’t really care past the fact that he was wasting blood that I would be more than happy to drink. I wanted to remain relaxed on the couch and continue talking to my friends, but my damn instincts were screaming at me to go protect him.
‘Protect him from what? Himself?’ I scoffed internally. Madame Pomfrey was capable of taking care of anything; Harry would probably be back in our rooms by tonight. My instincts quieted at my reasoning and I relaxed once more.
“Umm, uh, sir? Aren’t you going to go see him?” I gave a glance of annoyance at the Hufflepuff who had brought the message, not even deigning a response. “She said, that is, I heard her say… that he might die.”
I must have got up and must have left the Library where we had been talking because I suddenly found myself half way to the hospital wing.
My mate’s not going to die. He’s mine! Mine to control and do with as I pleased, and he would not die until I let him.
I nearly ran into my godfather entering the hospital wing as well and was momentarily surprised that he was here to ostensibly ‘help’ Harry Potter. But then again the boy was my mate, so I supposed he would try to keep him alive.
Severus went instantly over to where Madame Pomfrey was scrambling around my mate, seeming to get more desperate with every spell she cast.
The smell of his blood permeating through the room had me drawing closer as my fangs extended and a desperate hunger filled my stomach.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and then something must have been cast to dull my sense of smell because suddenly everything seemed dead and empty. I glanced behind me to see Dumbledore, finally taking notice of the other people in the room, and allowed myself to be pulled back to wait with my mates ‘best friends’ and head-of-house.
I caught glimpses of Harry’s bloody body as Severus and Madame Pomfrey moved around him, he looked beaten badly and my instincts reared again wanting retribution, but for now I couldn’t tear my eyes from him.
I watched as Poppy cast multiple spells but they didn’t seem to be doing anything, sometimes the wounds would show signs of healing for a split second before stopping other times she would cast something that would make them rip wider and I was struggling not to attack her at her failed spells.
“I don’t know what attacked him but spells aren’t holding, just go ahead and give him the potions, we’ll have to rely on them.” I heard Madame Pomfrey tell Severus and with a nod of his greasy head saw my godfather grab the first of many vials he had set out.
He swiftly and easily poured it down my mate’s throat and was already reaching for the next when Pomfrey gave a cry of alarm. She was grabbing desperately at my mate, trying to hold him down while his body convulsed and Severus quickly set the vial down to help her.
My entire body was shaking, trying to get closer and it was only then that I realized the Headmaster had also immobilized me. I managed to growl my anger at him, but remained focused on what was happening to my mate.
“What was in that!” Pomfrey shouted as the tremors began to quell and Severus shot her a murderous look.
“It was just a standard healing potion, I would have thought that you would know by now if he was allergic to them.” Severus growled back.
“He’s not! There must have been something wrong with it.”
“There nothing wrong with my potions.” Severus said in a steely voice and I smirked to see Pomfrey blanch for a second.
“Well just give him a blood restorative, he needs it desperately.” She said trying to regain her footing, but Severus just gave her a vicious glare at the obviousness of that statement. He reached over and plucked a red vial from the pile and again poured it down the boy’s throat. Everything seemed fine for a moment before Harry’s body shuddered and he turned to the side coughing up mouthfuls of blood. When the two adults rolled him over onto his back I could see the blood still dribbling from his mouth but also his nose, ears and eyes like a sick parody of tears. I vaguely could hear shouts and curses from the two that were supposed to be saving my mate as they desperately tried anything, but I was morbidly focused on my mate. Watching as the few wounds that they had managed to heal earlier split open and blood continued to pour out, seeming more liquid-like than it should, as it ran down his body.
‘Oh Merlin. My mate is going to die.’
I was frozen in shock and surprise because… it hurt. The thought of loosing him, that he would die in front of me, was unbearable.
I could no longer focus on the words that were being shouted around me, I sensed one of the people next to me running somewhere and a few moments later five people in the blue robes of Saint Mungos doctors ran by and to my dying mate.
They came with bags and instruments that I had never seen before, and Severus and Poppy both backed away with hopeless looks on their faces, their hands and robes completely covered in my mates blood.
