I'll try and answer the questions you may have.

Severus and Lucius loved each other when they were young and in school, but alas Lucius' father was opposed. The Father used dirty tricks to get Lucius married to Narcissa.
The Father was the reason behind the marks on the arms of Luc and Sev. So the sad look was each remembering how it could have been different. Luc did not cheat on Cissa.
Now as far as Harry is concerned his soul mates act like a storing jar of sorts. The soul mates can channel each other's power like conductors but cannot use it. So they can conduct Harry's power to him but cannot use for themselves. They store it for him, when he wishes to use it they can channel it to him and poof he can use it.
