Chapter 7

Title: Black, Red, and Blue (formerly Changes of Life, a major rewrite)
Chapter: 7
Overall Rating: NC17
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Disclaimer: I don’t own them, and so forth, or things would have been different ^_^ erm, yeah. The plot is mine, though, along with Adrian. (Please note: original one time use characters will not be listed here) Oh yeah, and I make no money, I’m broke :- (

A/N: First of all, thanks to all my reviews and readers alike. ^_^
Second of all, there *is* a reason I’m showing more of their visions. Just keep in mind, they’re not happening more frequently, it’s only that I’m putting more details of them in the story, that’s all. Also this may seem like it’s going a bit faster, especially from my “rough draft” but it’ll all fit in together.

********************

Surprisingly, potions was not their first class this year. It happened to be Defense Against the Dark Arts. When Draco entered the class, he let his eyes roam as he headed to his seat, frowning a bit when he did not see Harry in there. Had something happened? He hoped he didn’t just screw things up by letting his veela instincts take over last night. Not for the first time, he hated himself for treating the brunet the way he did. It only made things complicated, it only made things worse. He had thought he was letting Harry make his choice, but when Harry didn’t even know he had a choice in the first place, it kind of defeated the purpose.

He ignored his thoughts when the teacher walked in. The teacher looked feminine but she kept the hood of the cloak over her head, shrouding her face until she stood behind her desk. She put the hood back and smiled at the class. Draco had to fight hard to stay composed and keep his shock under control.

“Welcome class. I will be your defense teacher this year.” The teacher paused for the murmurs to die down. “For those that do not know, I am Mrs. Malfoy, though for all intents and purposes you may call me Ms. Black.”

Draco had to fight even harder. Apparently this was his mother’s way of telling him that the old appearances they were forced to keep up were now to be dropped instead. He could feel eyes on him, but he just set his jaw and ignored them.

“If everyone would please take out their defense books.” She waited while everyone had their books out before she levitated them all to form neat stacks on her desk. She glanced around the room before she set fire to each and every book.

A gasp could be heard from the left side of the room and Draco glanced to see Granger nearly in tears. He smirked, and then looked back at his mother with curiosity filling his eyes.

Narcissa spoke while the books burned. “We will not need them. You will not have a book to reference when the time comes for you to use it.” A smile graced her lips.

However, with the way the fire burned, it seemed to put a gleam to her eyes that made her look like a mad woman. It was only then Draco noticed the desk caught on fire too. Draco was about to mention something about it when suddenly a ravenclaw stood up, chair tumbling behind him, his hands flat on the desk.

“No! I will not have you teach me! How dare you. You’re husband’s a death eater and you expect me to sit in a class with you? One about *defense*? I will not!”

Narcissa’s eyes narrowed. When she spoke, it was in a deathly calm manner. “My husband’s choices are not my own. He will no longer be my husband soon enough, though that is none of your concern. All you should know… all any of you should know” at this she looked around the class room “is that Dumbledore trusts me to give you the knowledge to defend yourselves. As he is headmaster, it was his decision to make me a teacher. To question me is to question him.” She looked around the room again to make sure there would be no more protests. While some looked reluctant, they all kept their comments to themselves. She gave one last look to her son, trying to get something across.

However, Draco couldn’t understand the look before she looked back at her desk.

With a swish of her wand, the fire was gone. “Apparently the fire liked my desk as well.” Her smile was back. The smoke had been vanished while the fire burned. Now Narcissa got rid of the ashes and her entire (although half way burned) desk as well. “Oh well, no need for desks today. If everyone would please stand up and push your desks against the wall, we can get started. Everyone will pair up. You will take turns, one defends, the other attacks. Only attack with the spell I am about to teach you, nothing else. The spell is very minor in effect, but as hard to defend against as the cruciatus curse. You will only feel a small insect type sting. This spell was created approximately 200 years ago as a teaching spell; however it has then been removed from books 45 years ago due to people getting confused by the similarities regardless of the change in effect.

“Draco, if you will.” Draco moved up at his mother’s request. She made him practice with this spell before, so he was used to it. Narcissa continued to speak. “Watch me. The spell will go as follows.” She pointed her wand at her son. With a little flick she spoke the incantation. “Morsus.”

Draco flinched a little as a small yellow light sparked off his chest. He didn’t defend in order to help his mother show that the spell didn’t hurt. He returned to Blaise before everyone moved to two rows down the classroom. Only a few pairs started but when the others realized it would do no harm, they joined as well.

Narcissa spoke again. “I will not tell you how to defend yourself; I want to see how you would defend naturally.” She sat in her chair and watched the students, letting her eyes flick to her son as if searching for something.

Harry woke at the normal time that morning. He took his time in the shower, letting the heat relax him. He decided to skip breakfast so it was no surprise that by the time he came out, all the boys were already gone. He only dressed halfway before he was thrown into another vision. Yet again, this was one where Harry took place of the person.

***

Harry looked at himself in the mirror. He saw the messy light red hair contrasting with someone else’s blood splattered across his cheek. The brown eyes would have been plain if they were not sparkling like amber. A sad smile formed on his lips as he brought the dagger, dripping with blood up to look at it.

Hearing a noise behind him, Harry turned around only to relax at seeing the dark haired, violet eyed creature. For a creature is what he was, of that Harry was sure. The other “man” looked humanoid, there was just something different about it. The air around him seemed to shimmer.

Harry found himself looking down at the dagger again as words came out of his mouth. “How long will it take?” He murmured.

Suddenly the creature was right next to him, lifting his chin with delicate fingers. “Until the fates decide other wise.” The creature spoke as if in a song. Harry knew that if any others had heard it, they would be mesmerized by it. Then Harry’s lips were on the creatures, he could feel that his heart beat faster.

“Kayou, Kei… where are you?”

Harry and the other broke apart and looked as a brunette with brown eyes came into the doorway. She smiled. “Oh, there you are. We better go before they get here and see the bodies.”

“Must you ruin our moments, Nami.” The creature spoke with a smile before blackness took over.

***

“Mauricio, Arnau, and Zulimar… of course. Our happy little trio.” The voice was said with disgust.

***

“You two are a handful, I swear.” This voice was that of an amused woman.

***

“I don’t know what to do.” A male’s voice sounded as finally a background seemingly faded in. Harry could see that it was in a house of some sort. The man that spoke had dark blond hair. Harry could vaguely remember seeing him from somewhere else before, but couldn’t think of where.

“It’s okay.” Another man said. When Harry looked, it was a long auburn haired man. The memory clicking into place, Harry remembered he saw glimpses of the two talking off to the side during his first dream of Draco this summer.

The auburn haired man sat next to the dark blond and wrapped an arm around his shoulders. “We always find a way, don’t we? We just never were the targets before.”

“You think Emily may have an idea?”

“Probably but I don’t want to bring her into our mess, you know?”

“Well too bad.” This voice was that of a woman who walked into the living room. She had long black hair and was twirling a few rocks around with magic over her fingers. “I found out. And I don’t mind really. I care too much about you guys to let you go on without any help. I do have some experience you know.”

“You keep saying that, but how do you have that experience?” The blond asked.

Emily smiled. “I think it’s time I finally tell you.”

***

Harry came out of his visions. Fortunately he didn’t pass out; he just stared at the wall the whole time, his shirt still grasped in his hand. He moved to find that his arm hurt and looked at the time. 45 minutes passed, he was definitely late for class.

He dressed at a slower speed, no longer rushed to get to class. If he was going to be late, might as well miss it all together. It was just defense, and while it may not be the best idea to skip the first class of the year, it wasn’t necessarily his fault.

Just as he was heading out the door, Adrian appeared in front of him. Harry stopped and waited.

“If you wish to defeat your enemy, meet me tonight by the forbidden forest after the sun goes down.” Adrian spoke. For the first time Harry knew him, the man looked worried, as if he had a lot on his mind.

Harry gave a nod. “I’ll be with Draco tonight. I’ll go there afterwards.”

Adrian smiled a small smile. “I am glad you are accepting this well.”

Harry paused, thinking. “A lot has happened. It’s a lot to take in. I’ve learned to follow my instincts.”

Adrian’s smile widened a fraction. “Very good. Perhaps soon you will discover your history.” With that said, he disappeared back into the shadows.

Harry took a breath and continued to head to the common room. He’d stay there until after the first class let out.

For some reason, he was never able to ignore Adrian’s comments, vague as they were. He didn’t have much time yesterday to really think of anything, but now that he had time, it was the only thing he could do. First he thought of Draco. The only reason he suddenly believed that Draco was just putting on an act was because he kind of already thought it was. He found Draco attractive all year last year; he just didn’t treat Harry well enough to make up for it. It just didn’t seem to fit for him. After finding out that he was a vampire and a demon, he realized that was why he knew it wouldn’t fit. Draco was his mate. Those dreams that involved Draco this summer only showed Harry that there was more there than what was shown over the years.

So he didn’t think that he accepted Draco too soon. Not after knowing that. Not after what his instincts told him. He knew he was technically the dominant as far as their creature bond went. Draco wouldn’t be able to actually hurt him if he even tried. Why should he give up his mate because of the past?

Harry still didn’t quite understand what Adrian meant about his history. What was left to discover? He wracked his brain to think of what could possibly be missing when suddenly he understood. The visions were the missing link. It was so obvious now. Suddenly, with the force of a rubber band snapping, he was thrown into the familiar blackness again. Harry welcomed it, something inside of him telling him that this would be the final vision.

((quick little A/N… his vision includes a LOT more than what I’m just going to type out, so keep that in mind and you’ll see what I mean by the end of the vision. One * means same person, three *** means different person/life)

He took the place of one of the men this time. He noticed the same dark blond haired man from the vision just moments ago sitting across from him at an old fashioned tavern. “Hello.” He spoke, looking curiously at the other man. “My name is Zachary, are you the one they sent to work with me?”

“The name is Nathaniel, and I hardly consider it working with you so much as you’re working with me.” The other man spoke with a small smirk.

Harry chuckled a bit. “Let’s just say they want us to work with each other and leave it at that. I’m sure you’re as good as I am.”

Nathan gave him a nod. “I’ve been working with them for three years. I understand you were the only other person they took in at fourteen other than myself.”

Harry gave a smile. “Yes, that‘s right. So tell me how we’ve never come across each other before in the past two years.”

“Well killing for a living tends to keep you busy,” Nathan spoke quietly while leaning over the table.

Harry leaned over as well. “Yes, it will tend to do that.” Harry felt his heart beat a bit faster at the proximity between them. He knew he’d like this guy. But by just how much, he didn’t know and it scared him a little.

*

“Zach!” Nathan yelled before pushing Harry further on the cold stone floor he lay on. Harry was bleeding from quite a few wounds. He was saved from the men who hurt him then dragged away from the area by Nathan, which may explain why he was now on top of him, looking at him with worry.

“Don’t you ever go off to do a mission by yourself ever again, do you understand me?” Nathan continued. He spoke harshly, but it was clear to Harry just how concerned he was.

Harry gasped a bit before leaning his head on the floor. He looked up into the silvery green eyes of the man he fell in love with. They were still friends, but they were the best of friends. Working closely together for three years would do that. As Harry looked up at Nathan he couldn’t help but feel the want for more even stronger than normal. “I… understand.” He spoke through the pain.

He didn’t know what caused it but suddenly Nathan’s lips were on his and he melted into the kiss. He brought up a weak arm to touch Nathan’s side, letting him know that he wanted this.

*

“Leave him alone,” Harry spoke to the woman with the long black hair.

“And why should I?” The woman spoke, holding up her hand towards Nathan. Nathan was 4 feet away from her, being held 2 feet above the floor against the wall by some unseen force.

“He’s here for the same reason I am! To kill those that were hurting you as well. It’s in your best interest to let him go, if you want to see those men dead.” Harry spoke with anger.

The woman faltered before she slowly lowered her hand, letting Nathan slowly slide down the wall until he hit the floor and she let go of him completely. “I’m… sorry.” She spoke quietly. “I just… didn’t know. Let me come with you, please! You’ve seen my magic; you can tell I’ll be able to help.” She looked between the two men.

Harry continued to look a little angry so Nathan took the reply “Okay, but if you try any of that again, we may just have to find another target.” He spoke with the suggestive threat.

She straightened up but nodded. “Of course, I understand. It will not come to that.” She took a break before she continued, “I’m Emily.”

*

“I do have some experience you know,” Emily spoke.

“You keep saying that, but how do you have that experience?” Nathan asked.

Emily smiled. “I think it’s time I finally tell you. I am a rare race of human. We‘re called Tripudeatas, although I don‘t know any others like me. I just have this book that I found that talked all about it. Anyway, this is actually my second life, and I have all the memories from my previous life as well. From what I‘ve read, I‘ll always have another life. My soul will never die.” She smiled at that. “It really makes the small problems in life seem not as bad.” Her smile faded. “But your situation is different. These guys that are after you won’t stop until your dead. And in the mean time they’ll continue causing terror and death to other humans. They have to be stopped. We have to find their leader and destroy him.”

*

“There was too many.” Nathan spoke in a broken voice, looking at Harry.

Harry nodded weakly. He held Nathan’s hand. “At least they let us die together.”

“I hope Emily can get them in her next life.” Nathan spoke, surprised to feel a tear on his blood smudged face.

“I hope that too.” Harry spoke softly, weakly pulling Nathan closer to him on the dirty ground they lay on. He softly kissed Nathan. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Zach.”

***

Harry was 17 this time. He walked out of another building, disappointment shown on his face as he couldn’t find anyone who could possibly be Emily. He gave up hope long ago that Nathan was able to come with him. He felt so lost, so alone without his love by his side. In his previous life he was with Nathan when he was 16, they spent 30 year together and he loved him with everything he was worth. There would be no way he could get anyone to take his place, but if he could at least find Emily it would take a bit of the pain away. He was out looking for her all around the country for two years now, but it was hard when he had no idea what her new life made her be or what her name was this life. He knew the only way to get revenge on those that killed him and his love was to get together with Emily and try to make up a plan.

He was so lost in his thoughts that he was caught completely by surprise when he was suddenly in the arms of another man. He felt cool and smooth. His first thought was to run away but he smelled the man and seemed to melt into compliance.

“I’ve finally found you,” the man spoke in a way that made Harry shiver. “But I will choose to die if you are not Zach.”

Harry felt his heart clench when he heard those words. “N-Nathan?”

Suddenly the man’s lips were on his, kissing him fiercely for a minute before he pulled away enough to look down at Harry. “Yes, my love.”

Harry looked up at the man, hardly believing what was happening. He took in the details of the man‘s face, his eyes, his teeth. Harry gasped. “You’re a vampire.”

The man smiled. “In this life, yes. And you, my love, happen to be my mate.”

Harry couldn’t take it anymore and pressed himself closer to the man, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him tight. He stood there, embracing the man for a long moment before he pulled away, gathering himself from drifting away in happiness. “Do you know what this means? We can get them without having to be away from each other. So… what’s your name this life?”

“Caleb. I was actually turned when I was 16, so I’ve kept my human name. I was trying to find Emily for years until I was turned when I found out I was turned by a vampire who gets a mate. So for the past year I’ve been trying to find my mate… find you. And your name this life would be?”

Harry smiled. “Isaac,” he replied.
