Lucius sighed. It was good to have requested a conversation with Draco's Head of House. He felt reassured, knowing that his son was now back to his own self. With grades to match. Yes, Draco had been down and withdrawn for a week or two but he was doing well again.
With that concern out of the way, Lucius was in the mood to face the next one.
He walked through the scarcely lit corridors until the goal was reached. Not bothering to knock, Lucius entered.
"Lucius?" Remus rose, frowning. Lucius visiting him couldn't be considered a good sign.
"I am here… " Lucius put the head of his cane against Remus' chest, pushing him back into the wall, "… to remind you, once and for all, that Severus is mine and mine alone."
"He is human, Lucius, not property. You can't own a human."
Lucius shook his head, sneering. "Ah, but that's where you are wrong, werewolf. Severus is my property. He wants to be owned. By me."
"You're crazy. No one wants to be owned," Remus countered.
"Shows how much you know." Lucius stared thoughtful at the DADA teacher. "Why are you after him? What do you want, I wonder."
"I care for him, I - "
"Don't give me that nonsese about love. He does not love you, so tha - ah, the potion. It's the potion, isn't it?" Triumph flickered in Lucius' eyes. "As long as you are his guinea-pig, as long as he has use for you, you are saf - "
"Don't be ridiculous!" Remus snapped, feeling uneasy.
Lucius chuckled. "I see I struck a nerve there. Ah yes, you could never afford to buy the potion, could you now? Tell me, was this last 'complication' as accidental as it appeared to be? Don't bother answering that." Lucius silenced Remus with an impatient gesture. "It doesn't matter anyway. He now has his own werewolves to test the potion on so it won't be long before you can be considered superfluous and th - "
"You have werewolves?" Remus had a hard time believing his ears.
"I am so tired of being interrupted," Lucius gave Lupin a warning glare, then smiled. "Well, they are werewolves now…"
"No! You wouldn't! Merlin, no! That is… " Words failed to describe the horror Remus felt. It was almost too shocking to comprehend. No one in their right mind would ever inflict such a curse on someone else!
"Severus thought it was an excellent idea. Having to depend on just one werewolf was starting to interfere with his research, you see." Lucius smiled his most treacherous smile. "All in the name of science, of course."
"I bet you were the one to suggest that." Remus clearly had a hard time controlling his anger.
Lucius answered with a cold and ominous glance, wrapping his gloved hand around the Gryffindor's neck.
"I will dispose of you, Lupin. Soon." Lucius bent forward, continuing with a caustic voice. "You will never get Severus. I'd rather kill him than to let you have my husband."
The drive to survive refrained Remus from commenting he already had had Severus. Then something dawned on him.
"Kill him? Aren't you mi - "
"Think, werewolf." With that, Lucius let go. He took a step back and buried the fangs of his cane in Lupin's right cheek-bone, twisting the flesh until drops of blood broke through the skin. Remus froze, biting back a growl of pain.
"Remus, love, I thought I would sur - hey, what's going on here?" The strange voice made Lucius lower his cane. He turned around.
"Dairmuid." Remus was almost able to hide his relief.
"Are you all right? What is going on?" Without giving it a second thought, Dairmuid stepped in front of Remus. "Why are you harassing Remus?" His posture told of hostility and aggression,
warning Lucius to back off.
"And you are?" Lucius did not yield and raised an eyebrow.
"Dairmuid Connolly," Remus answered, thankful for every distraction he could get at this point.
"Connolly… as in the Connolly's from Devonshire?"
"Worse. I'm Welsh," Dairmuid flared. "Now what's th - "
"Ah, that branch." Lucius didn't even attempt to hide his contempt. Scroungers. "Well, you certainly know how to pick your equals, Lupin. Is he your lover?"
Silence. Remus was lost for words in fear of putting Dairmuid in danger.
"I see… " Lucius recognised the silent avowal for what it was.
"Now, wait a second! Who are you to insul - "
"Are you aware of the fact that your lover is trying to seduce my husband, Mr Connolly?" Lucius bit. Surprised by the outburst of enmity, Dairmuid took a step back before composing himself again.
"Seduce yo - what?" Dairmuid looked from Remus to Lucius, then back to Remus again. "Remus? What is he talking about?"
"I will leave you to it, shall I? Gentlemen… " All refinement, Lucius walked out of the room. He had done what he'd set out to do.
He Apparated home, feeling very pleased with himself indeed.
"Don't you look smug," Severus greeted his husband when Lucius appeared in the living-room.
"And rightfully so. Draco's Head of House informed me that my son is back to his normal standard." Lucius poured them both a brandy before sitting down next to his lover.
"You've been to Hogwarts? Why? It's been three weeks since Draco was home. Surely you'd have been told if there still was any reason for concern." Severus looked puzzled.
"Priorities, Sev. It's all about priorities." Lucius cheerfully tapped him on the leg. "Family comes before business. I need a solid basis and for me, my family is exactly that. I could have all the power in the world but if there's no solid basis to fall back on, I'd still have nothing."
Severus gave his husband a thoughtful glare.
"Stop looking at me like that. I hate it when you do that," Lucius grumbled.
"Are you sur - " Severus fell silent. A quick check told him Lucius experienced the same.
The Dark Lord was calling.
No words were exchanged as they changed into their Death Eater robes.
After Apparating they found themselves back in the same house as several times before and in front of their Master.
The Dark Lord watched them pay him their respect before pointing his wand at them.
"Please tell me I have joyful anticipation to look forward to." His red eyes went from one to the other. "Well?"
"Unfortunately, my Lord" Lucius bowed his head in the most submissive gesture possible.
Voldemort hissed in anger. "Speak," he snapped.
Lucius took it upon himself to explain: how they both had been taking fertilising potions but with lack of results. How testing had indicated that Lucius was not able to conceive and Severus' sperm tested sterile. He had gotten pregnant twice but both times his body rejected the pregnancy after the first week.
The Dark Lord kept silent for a long time, the only movement being the tapping of his forefinger against his lips.
"My friends, meet Mr Barach, a healer from Hogwarts. His speciality is fertility." In came a large old man. It took both Severus and Lucius a mere glance to recognize the work of the Imperio Spell.
"Tell me." Voldemort gave the man a questioning look. Apparently he had followed the conversation from a distance.
"I'll need sperm samples." Barach handed Lucius and Severus two empty cups.
"Of course." The Dark Lord chuckled, sitting back in expectation. "I always enjoy watching a man masturbate."
Avoiding eye contact with all present, Lucius freed his cock and closed his eyes, forcing himself to fantasize about his husband. It took quite some time but when his climax finally washed over him, he made every effort to come silently. There was no way Lucius would grant his Lord that satisfaction.
Barach snatched the cup out of his hand, went to the back of the room and tested it.
"Perfect," he confirmed before walking up to Severus, eyeing his still flacid cock with impatience before turning towards the Dark Lord.
"Oh, not again." Voldemort sighed. "Withdraw it. I haven't got all day."
The healer pointed his wand at Severus' member and started chanting. Severus immediately doubled in pain. Barach unceremoniously pushed the cup under the now stiff cock and caught the Grandmaster's essence.
Recovering from the pain and undignified treatment, Severus rose and, dressing himself, stared daggers at the man.
"Sterile."
More tests followed. Barach was unable to detect any traces of the potions both men had been using and could only confirm their story. Unfortunately he also knew of a way to prevent Severus' body rejecting the pregnancy.
Voldemort nodded, pleased. "Think you are ready to perform again, Lucius? Or perhaps you need some stimulation?" The Dark Lord gave him a deceitful look of concern. "No? Good. Strip. Both of you."
It was embarrassing, downright degrading and painful. Barach stepping in to 'assist' after Lucius failed to get a second erection only added to the humiliation.
Voldemort waited until the healer had used his magic to prevent Severus from having another miscarriage, then left taking Barach with him.
Lucius and Severus dressed in silence, each ignoring the other. The moment their feet landed on the thick carpet of the study floor however, Lucius' alarmbells went off as he watched his husband stare at his own abdomen, face distorted by revulsion and hatred.
"Oh no, you don't!" Lucius slapped him in the face. Hard. "No more self-mutilations!"
"Workroom." Severus spat out the word with unprecedented venom, shoving Lucius out of his way.
"What? Now? It's - "
"I will not have this… thing grow inside and feed off me!" Severus stopped and turned so abruptly that Lucius almost bumped into him.
His husband frowned. "Do you really think you can outsmart that Healer's magic?" Lucius could practically feel his lover's desperation.
"I will damn well try. I will - " Severus fell silent, seeing his pain reflected back in his husband's eyes. His shoulders dropped. They stood, staring at each other.
"He may not stay in favour of our marriage if we are unable to produce offspring." Severus was not aware he was thinking out loud until Lucius responded.
"My thoughts exactly."
"I hate Narcissa." Severus retreated to their bedroom, unable as well as unwilling to face the world at this point in time.
"Hate is good," Lucius agreed. He slumped down in the nearest chair, burrying his face in his hands before leaning back and staring at the ceiling above. He felt defeated. For the first time in his life, he felt truly defeated. A new and highly unwelcome epercience. And he wasn't even the one now carrying a… a foreign object? An intruder? Severus certainly felt it that way but did he? It was made from his sperm, his… Lucius closed his eyes, trying to analyse his feelings but to no avail. Too much turmoil. Paralysing turmoil. He wanted to scream, howl, rage and rave! Instead, he just sat there, thinking of ways to get back at his former wife. Because she would pay. Oh yes, she would pay.
