One Last Chance

Chapter Six

It was the day after Ginny's little mishap at the Three Broomsticks and she was feeling much better.Luckily her mother hadn't noticed her not feeling well or the stench of alcohol on her breath and clothes the day before.Ginny was searching around the house looking for Trixie's colouring book.The small child had been screaming for it for nearly an hour and she still hadn't been able to find it.

In Ginny's searches she came across Draco's room (formely Ron's).Curiousity ached inside her,daring her to check it out.When they'd arrived home yesterday,Draco had spent the whole time in his new room 'decorating' as he put it.She was itching to go in and see how it looked.It wouldn't hurt if she just took a peak,right?

Ginny slowly opened up the door and gasped.The whole room looked completely gothic,all dark green,red and black.The curtains were a deep shade of crimson and the bed was covered in a black comforter.The once hardwood floor was now dark green carpet and all the Chudley Cannon's posters were gone.It looked amazing.Draco was quite the decorator.

Ginny cautiously stepped into the room.Black candles which were floating on the ceiling ignited,casting an eerie glow throughout the room.Ginny glanced to the other side of the room and noticed a shiny black vanity table.On top of the table was a leather bound black book.Curiousity overtook Ginny and she reached for it.Seeing there was a lock on the cover she took out her wand and pointed it at the padlock.

"Alohamora."She said,tapping the lock with her wand.The lock instantly opened and she threw it aside.When she opened up the book she half expected it to scream,as the restricted books at the library did if you opened them without permission,but it didn't.It appeared to be a muggle diary.

Ginny flipped through the book,seeing mostly drawings dated back to Draco's early Hogwarts years.Then she came to a list,dated Valentine's day of two years ago.She was shocked when she read it.There were two columns.One saying good things,the other bad.The larger title was Ginny.It said:

Good:

-Beautiful

-Smart

-Funny

-Unique

-Her body

-Her smile

-The way she smells

-Her playfulness

-The way she makes me feel alive

Bad:

-Weasley

-I love her

Ginny smiled.So he had to make a list after he hurt her that day.It made her feel a bit better knowing it had bothered him so much.It also made her happy that he actually had loved her.She flipped through the book a little bit more and found a note dated nearly a month before the end of Ginny's 6th year at Hogwarts.It was a note.

Dear Ginny,

I'm sorry I have to do this.The Dark Lord is back and in power.All the Death Eaters have been broken out of Azkaban and I fear for you.My father is ordering me to break it off with you,and I must do it.You don't know his power.He will kill you if we stay together.I don't want to do it,cause Merlin I do love you.I love you more than I can explain.You're the other person I've ever loved,and before you,I thought I was incapable of that feeling,but you proved me wrong.So you see,we cannot go on.It's too much of a risk and I'm not strong enough to lose you.Not again.I wish there was another way,but there isn't.Just know that I will always love you.

When Ginny was finished reading the note she had tears in her eyes.So that's why he left her.She was right.His father had forced him.She suddenly felt angry at Draco.They could've ran,hidden somewhere and been together.And why had he never delivered this note if he cared so much?

Ginny turned a few more pages and noticed what looked like song lyrics.His lyrics were sad made her depressed so she skipped them,but one song caught her eyes.It was entitled Genivive.

Smiles and her laughter

days seem like years in this month of December

Ginny covered him mouth as a gasp escaped.This was dated two days ago.Draco wrote a song about loving her just two days ago.He lied to her!He told her he didn't have feelings for her.How dare he.

Ginny was confused.Why was she so mad?Then it dawned on her,she still had feelings for him.

"Then why did he have to leave?"She asked her reflection,tears streaming down her face.She didn't know what to do.Should she confront him and admit to snooping through his things,or just ignore it?No,she couldn't just ignore this.It wasn't just a little thing.He was writing songs about her!She had to talk to him about it.

Ginny grabbed the book and walked out of the room.If she was caught in there he'd have a fit.She snuck down the hallway and ran down to the basement where she hid the book under her and Harry's bed.She needed to be alone and think.

"What the hell is this,Draco?"Draco awoke with a start.He sat up slowly in his bed and squinted in the light of his bedroom.
"Huh?"He asked dumbly,not sure that the shrill voice was part of his dream or not.

"I said 'what the hell is this?',"Ginny screamed at him again.She had a booklet in her hand.The cover was black leather and it was bound by a buckle on the front cover.As his eyes focused his stomache did a flip-flop."Now answer me!"

"Where the fuck did you get that?"He asked,getting out of bed to reveal he was only wearing black silk pajama bottoms.

"I found it on your desk when I was looking for Trixie's colouring book."She told him.Anger boiled up in Draco's viens.

"You went through my stuff?"He asked her.

"Don't change the subject.Now tell me,what is this?"She shouted angrily at him.

"Haven't I told you before to stay out of my room?"Draco retorted,ignoring her insistant tone.Who did she think she was going through his things?Oh this was bad,very bad indeed.

"That is none of your concern!"She screamed over his thoughts."Now if you won't answer me,I'll just refresh your memory."She flipped open the book and searched for a page."Here's one,it's called 'Genivive'.Kinda sounds like it's about me,does it not?"

Ginny had tears brimming in her eyes as she yelled at the blonde.Draco wanted to just reach out and touch her.to kiss those tears away.Merlin,how he still cared for her.If only she felt the same.

"I thought you told me you didn't have feelings for me anymore."It was more of a statement then a question.Draco stammered for an answer.

"Gin I-"

"No.You listen,"She interupted him."This whole book is pretty much about me.All these years you've been writing about me."

"Yeah I guess so.."Draco told her.He was starting to think this wouldn't turn out as badly as he feared.Maybe she did still feel for him too.

"If you care bout me so much,"Her voice began to rise again into a shout."Then why the bloody hell did you leave me?!I was pregnant and you just dropped me then up and left without so much as a goodbye!Why?Were you that much ashamed of me,ashamed of Trixie?That you needed to break things off and lose contact?You couldn't even wait until graduation,you just left!Because of you leaving I had to graduate a year late!Because of you Trixie and I live with my parents still!I could've done somehting with my life!I fucking loved you,and you just tossed me aside like rubbish!"

"It wasn't like that!And you know it.I loved the two of you!"He inerjected.He couldn't take her bashing him like that.He knew he'd been a git,he didn't need her to tell him.He already felt like shit,and she wasn't helping the matter.

"Then how was it?It sure as hell seems that you abandoned me!"She screamed back at him,still brandishing the leather book.Draco opened his mouth to explian,then closed it again,not knowing how much he should tell her."Speak up,Draco!I can't hear you!"

"Listen!"He finally shouted at her."It's not like I wanted to leave,alright?I wanted so badly to just stay with you,I loved you.But things don't always go how you want them to,just leave it at that!"Draco grabbed for a shirt from the floor and slipped it on.He couldn't take it anymore.He needed to get out.There was just something about talking about his song book to Ginny that made him nervous.He wanted to leave.He needed to get out,bad.

"Where the bloody hell do you think you're going?"She asked as he made for the door that she was blocking.

"Out."He told her through clenched teeth.

"Oh no you're not!We're not finished with this!"She told him firmly.Draco wouldn't look at her.He pushed passed her and began to walk up the stairs towards the kitchen of The Burrow.He ignored her shouts."Draco Malfoy you get back her right now!We are not finished with this!"It was no use.He wasn't listening anymore.His heart felt like a lead weight.She didn't love him back...
