Chapter 7

Fred and George was the first to embrace their brother. They'd had to keep this secret for so long from their family despite the credo that family always came first.

Bill held his brother at arms length, "Ron, I'm so proud of you. We came to be here by our own merits and this... this just makes me so proud of you!"

"Thanks Bill, I've been your shadows for so long... "

"Not anymore, Little Brother. This moment is all yours. Eneto would have had you here sooner, but he had to wait for the sword to call. It is the way of Avalon."

"I take it, Dumbledore will never hear that call?"

"Not in this lifetime," the twins chimed in together.

Ron looked to the one brother he had not spoken to in so long.

"Percy."

"Ron."

"Percy," Charlie spoke as he wrapped an arm around the shoulders of the smartest Weasley, "was the first to answer the call. He's been a spy in the Ministry for Avalon.

"Actually," Eneto cut in, "Ron was called before anyone else was. He was called when I accepted my inheritance. As a Weasley, he is descended from the original Knights of the Round Table." The older man smirked. "It was fate that we met on the train Ron."

Ron broke away from his brothers and came to stand in front of Eneto. "I told you, that I would always stand beside you in your fight with....The Dark Lord. I promised you after my little jealousy faze in fourth year."

Eneto smirked as Ron reached out and grabbed him in a manly hug. "I have missed you my friend."

"And I as well." Eneto held his old friend tight as the rest of the Weasley brothers joined in.

"Tell me what happen...the day you left," Ron asked. "So much has happen."

"A lot has happen, Ron. I've told you some of it."

"But not everything. Evidently the old man, put blocks on your magical core, as well as Neville’s, and wasn't planning on removing them, even on the threat of death."

Eneto looked at his old friend in a new light. A mature but brash Ronald Weasley was something to behold. "Don't ever change, Ron."

"Don't plan on it," Ron answered smugly with his arms crossed.

Eneto glanced at the watch on his arm, "Why don't we retired to the commons. I'll tell you my tale there."

"Agreed!"

Eneto snapped his fingers and a house elf appeared. "Dobby!"

Dobby ran towards his master and hugged his legs. Eneto patted his small shoulder. The little elf was dressed black shorts and green tee shirt.

"Master 'Neto! What may Dobby do for Master 'Neto!"

Eneto crouched down to eye level with his little friend, who had somehow found him when no one else could. "Dobby, could you bring tea and sandwiches, and some mead and wine as well, to the commons off my rooms?"

"Yes, Master 'Neto! Right away." Dobby snapped his fingers and disappeared in a wisp of smoke.

Everyone had finally settled down on comfortable couches.. and chairs that littered the spacious room. Dobby had quietly levitated a tray around with wine and mead. Trays of food in easy reach of everyone as well. Eneto ended up sitting between Severus and Sirius. He had introduced everyone to Gregori, his adopted Father.

While everyone was chatting quietly, Eneto was absently twirling the glass in his hand...thinking about where he could start his tale.

"At the beginning is good place, Eneto."

He grinned, "Yes, Papa. That would be day that I met myself. The day my whole life changed for the better."

"Met yourself?" Draco asked.

"When I went to the goblins... there was someone waiting."

"Yourself?" Severus whispered.

"Yes."

Sirius frowned. "Yourself?"

"My older self was waiting for me. To basically tell me it was alright to leave. To do what needed to be done."

"He was also waiting on me when my Gran took me St. Mungo's when I got sick. Waiting with goblins to take me to the ritual room at Gringotts," Neville said from his place by the fire.

"What happen that day?" Ron asked.

Eneto leaned back into the couch he was sitting on, holding a glass of red wine, "Dumbledore had told me that the Dursley's would be waiting for me, but as I said they weren't. Not that I would have gone with them to begin with."

"What else did that old Bastard say to you?"

"That I was a disappointment. I should have taken the opportunity given me and destroyed Tom Riddle in the graveyard. He was sending me to the Dursley's as punishment. I was to have no contact with my friends and forbidden to leave the house for any reason. He would inform my Uncle Vernon to keep me in line."

"He used your Uncle... "

"As I said in his office....the charms the Goblins removed from me told him all that happened in that house. How I was treated...I think he even encouraged it from my Uncle."

"Eneto," Sirius began, "Did no one ever step forward. I mean.. you went to Muggle school, didn't you?"

"I had one teacher that tried. And now that I think back on it, I think she had been 'Oblivated'. But I've told you about the charms and so forth. I spent two days in the Ritual Room with my other self, having the blocks on my magical core removed. I had suppression charms on me as well. Some that made it hard for me to learn charms and spells. Made the work I was doing at Hogwarts harder, because I couldn't retain the knowledge or understand it."

"Why would he do that? I don't understand," Ron stated.

"To keep Mr. Potter more in his grasp." Lucius took a sip of his own wine. "He was probably going to weaken the charms on you as he brought you more under his control. He wanted a puppet, a weapon in you. Not a man who listened to his own counsel. "To keep Mr. Potter more in his grasp." Lucius took a sip of his own wine. "He was probably going to weaken the charms on you as he brought you more under his control. He wanted a puppet, a weapon in you. Not a man who listened to his own counsel. And most likely wanted share in the glory when you finally defeat the Dark Lord."

"Or watch me die."

"What happen when you stepped through the portal to the past?" Hermione asked changing that subject better left for another time.

"I met a man called Gregori Garaguso. The man who would become my guardian. It was the first time in my life I felt like a child. He gave me a freedom I never knew. I also slept for eight days. The charms and spells coming off.. left me weak and very tired. My magical core had never been at full power or at least since my parent's death. So it was unstable and had to stabilize before I could do any magic. Also since my wand had been snapped by that fool Fudge, I needed a new one."

"Pup?" Remus started, as he ran his fingers through his shaggy hair, "Wasn't that a good thing to begin with? Your wand was a brother wand to the Dark Lord's?"

Eneto thought back to the graveyard where he saw the apparitions of his parents coming from Tom Riddle's wand. Now that his own wand was gone....he would never see them again.

"What is your wand now?"

"Rowan wood soaked in the waters of Avalon with the dragon heartstring of a Chinese Red Dragon with a sliver of oak from the round table, 14 inches."

"Wow," Ron breathed.

"I had to start over in learning my magic. How to control it. A simple levitation charm became hard to me. Hard to control and grasp. I was almost afraid to use my magic. "

Gregori stepped in front of the fireplace, "I took him to a wand maker here in Avalon. It took a priestess three days after the woods and cores were selected to make his new wand. We worked with him for a year to bring him up to proper levels; where he needed to be for his age. Albus Dumbledore did nothing but harm in blocking his core. For that alone he should be punished by the Gods for his deviant behavior towards Eneto and Neville. Blocking their magic. Leaving my son with those Muggles and the treatment he received at their so-called loving hands."

Eneto blushed and then smiled. He was used to the words of this man. It took time, but he accepted the indignation on his behalf from him as well when there was none at one time from anyone.

"You were good at keeping secrets, Harry," Hermione whispered. She was looking off to the side... looking at everything and at nothing. Lost in her thoughts. "You never told me or Ron what was happening at your relatives. When we asked, you would blow us off or change the subject." Hermione focused her gaze on her old friend, "Why?"

"I had learned a long time ago, the only person I could rely on was myself. Then I met Hagrid and found out about this wonderful world I should have grown up in. But had been left at the doorstep in the middle of the night of my Aunt's and Uncle's like yesterdays news. I often wondered what would have happened if they had decided to drop me off at an orphanage. How long would it had taken for Dumbledore to find out? A few days later? Or when my first Hogwarts letter was returned?"

"Albus Dumbledore truly ruled your life, didn't he?"

"Just like he ruled yours, Severus. When you went to him after you realized you made a mistake in joining Tom Riddle. How you and many others had been drawn to him by his flowery and powerful words. How he with the help of others of the same ideas would bring about a new Wizarding World. Bring back the old ways and pull them out of the Middle Ages into the future. To Tom Riddle and Albus Dumbledore we are all expendable and pawns on a chess board."

"Except you removed yourself from his board." Lucius smirked. "Commendable, I'd say."

"Thank you."

"Back to what happened," Hermione pushed. "What else happened?"

"Well I graduated from magical school. A private one in Spain. It was harder coursework than Hogwarts, I will say. Three days was spent on Magic. Two days a week was muggle studies. The Headmaster and governors of the school believed we as witches and wizards need to adapt to the world at large unlike our English brethren who isolate themselves. We also had an extra year of schooling."

"Blimey! Eight years?" Ron exclaimed.

"Well I already had four in. I spent a year in independent study with tutors and Papa. Then I spent three quiet years in Spain. No teachers or Headmaster trying to manipulate my life... trolls breaking into the school..." He glanced at Ron and Hermione and smiled "... or other houses sabotaging my potions," Eneto drawled as he looked to a grinning Draco.

"Then Uni?"

"Yes. Rome for four years. I majored in Curse Breaking and Potions. After that, I attended Auror academy in Italy. Then I answered the call of the sword. I was finally ready to hear it and take up the position as the heir."

"Eneto would have been raised by the Brotherhood after his parents had died... or with his parents but Dumbledore had already placed them under the Fidelis Charm. And then Voldemort happened. A year later, I was gifted with this young man." Gregori smiled. He was so proud of the young man before him. He couldn't be any prouder if he had given birth himself.

"The Brotherhood was going to protect the Potter's?" Lucius asked.

"The prophecy was revealed to us by a member of the Brotherhood. An Unspeakable at the Ministry was able to get a copy before Dumbledore had a chance to do anything to it, which we wouldn't have put past the old bastard. He had James and Lily under his thumb for some time. He tightened his hold when the Elder Potter's died during James' Seventh Year."

"Did Dumbledore know that James was the Heir of Gryffindor?" Remus asked.

"Yes, he did. All heirs of the four Founders are written in a book kept in the heart of Hogwarts and here at Avalon."

Sirius was sitting quietly, pondering all he was learning about the past. Of the what ifs and what should have beens. "They could still be alive and Harry would never have had to grow up like he did. Lily and James wanted to leave England and travel abroad or just slip into anonymity. They wanted more children. Brothers and sisters for Harry."

"What happened?"

"Albus happened," Remus growled. "It was he who told James that I couldn't be trusted, all because I was a werewolf."

"And we listened," Sirius whispered. "I still don't understand why we did it either. Only that we started to turn on each other one by one."

Eneto closed his eyes. Dumbledore would rue the day he hurt his family, once and for all. "Maybe we should have the Goblins check all of you for spells and charms."

"Do you think he...." Hermione began.

"I know what he did to me.. and what he did to Neville. I have no doubt he's done much more to those he associates with and manipulates within his Order."

"What I don't understand is that the old man knew that Voldemort would be targeting the heirs and did nothing?" Draco stated. "He had a book, with all the names and did nothing. What was the purpose?"

"Dumbledore is an heir."

"Which Founder?" Hermione asked, but dread told her the answer before she heard it.

"Albus Dumbledore is a descendant of Salazar Slytherin from his youngest daughter. But don't condemn him for that. Salazar was a good man. His ideas over the years have been manipulated to fit what everyone thought of him. His views of what he wanted for Hogwarts is written in his journals."

"What did he want?" Hermione asked.

Eneto leaned forward, "Salazar wanted the Muggleborns to attend school a year early. Or in some cases, to be checked up on for abuse, or condemnation by their families. Many children were burned or tortured for being possessed by the devil, or as witches when it was actually their magic manifesting for the first time. He wanted to pull the children from those homes and place them with magical families."

"It never came to fruition. Why?"

"The Ministry was just coming into it's own. They wanted to keep themselves separated from the Muggles as much as possible. Swooping in during the night and stealing children was something they didn't want to be a part of."

"The extra schooling?"

"Not sure, only that it didn't happen."

"But as an Heir and Headmaster, he had complete control over the school. Not that she didn't like what he was doing."

"She?" Ron asked.

"Lady Hogwarts, much like Avalon is full of pure magic. She's more than a castle, she's a protector of the children that walk within her walls. I imagine that Dumbledore has had to fight with her over the years to get what he wanted done. Like ignoring the existence of the animagius form of Peter Petigrew as Wormtail."

"Allowing fully grown Mountain Trolls into the castle?" Draco deadpanned.

"Basilisk's?"

"A forty foot Basilisk, Hermione. Remember, I'm the one who had to fight it."

"That was true?" Severus' hand had clutched Eneto's leg. "Dumbledore allowed a twelve year old to actually go one on one with a fully grown Basilisk?"

"I had Fawkes and the Sword of Gryffindor." Eneto grimaced as Severus' hand got tighter. "HEY! Blame the old man!"

"So..." One red headed twin began, snickering at Eneto's predicament.

"How did you..."

"....get into Potions?"

"When you did so poorly?"

"Like I said, with no one sabotaging my work, I seemed to find the class fascinating. And the year of tutoring helped as well as one of my classmates was also a Werewolf. He died during one of his transformations." The young man had been the first person he'd known... who's death had been unrelated to the Dark Lord. "He had been a Werewolf since he was two years old. His family was killed when a rampaging Were pack attacked their house. He told me that the local Aurors found him in his cot the next morning. The Senior Auror had adopted him."

"What was his name?"

"Federico Osbourne. He told me that the other Auror's wanted to AK him when they found him. Only because of the life he was going to lead as a Werewolf. But his adopted father wouldn't let them. The Wolfsbane was just being developed when he died. I did my thesis on the potion when I graduated from Uni."

"Spurned you on, did it?" Ron whispered.

"I also never forgot the night I saw Remus change. How much pain he was in that night. No one asks to be bitten. Why should they suffer so, if there is some way to help them." He heard, rather than saw Remus suck in a breath as Lucius took his hand.

"The hour grows late, Eneto."

"Yes, Papa." Standing, "There are plenty of rooms here for everyone. Pick a room, a bed, and sleep well. House elves will be in to set out anything you need."

"What happens tomorrow?" Ron asked.

"Tomorrow we plan around the Headmaster and I tell you what Tom Riddle is searching for."

The room emptied out slowly until it was only Eneto and Severus. "I am truly sorry for the deception. But when I met you again, in Italy, I hadn't been Harry Potter in a very long time."

"No more secrets?"

"None. All you have to do is ask."

Severus had listened all evening to Eneto talk about what had happened. He knew there was more to be learned. What other lies and manipulations had the Headmaster done? Severus reached out to the man before him, drawing one finger down a unshaven cheek. His one obsession over the past five years.

Eneto closed his eyes, savoring the touch. His body ached for this man who he had known in two different worlds, as two different men. The first as a despised but respected professor and one of his elders; and the other as a friend, lover and equal. Now that he knew Harry James Potter and Eneto Alejandro Santiago were one and the same, would that change the dark serious man's feelings? He studied the onyx eyes, trying to read the man's soul, to see some hint of what he was feeling. What he saw cemented his resolve. He would make sure this man remained friend and lover. Reaching up to grasp the hand touching his face, he turned it and kissed the palm without breaking eye contact.

"Shall we retire to my rooms?" He purred, allowing his desire to reflect in his gaze.

Severus licked his lips, seeing the fire in Eneto's eyes. "Lead the way..."

Sirius sat in the leather wing-back chair in the room reserved for him by Eneto... Harry. He would always be Harry to him. Always. Sitting and thinking over the past... he hadn't just missed his growing years...he missed his whole life. All because of Dumbledore.

He wished now he had the opportunity to have gone back with his Godson to the past and help him along the way.

All Sirius knew was that when tomorrow came, he would not be returning to Hogwarts. He was staying here at Avalon to be near Eneto.

Tomorrow was a new start. Eneto was not James.

Eneto was his own man.

A man, Sirius Black was going to get to know as best as he could.
