By night, Malfoy looked like the moon, pale and silver and ethereal. The contrast of the darkness of the world with the fair darkness of his spirit created a white juxtaposition that chilled. But as the sun rose, jetting sunrays through the slightly open curtains and slicing across dark blue sheet to where Malfoy lay sleeping, Malfoy lost all resemblance to that celestial orb and took on the mark of another. His alabaster skin took a rosy flush as it warmed in the sunlight, and his hair glinted like spun gold. The irony of this was not lost on Harry. Malfoy took on the likeness of the light, whether by day or night, though he dwelt primarily in shadow.
Harry sat in a squishy brown leather chair with his legs curled under him and a book propped open on the arm. He didn\'t hear the Floo activate in the other room, so he was taken by surprise when Hermione and Ron breezed into the bedroom with inconsiderate familiarity. They halted, though, when they spotted Malfoy, still asleep, and nude, but for the obsidian torque around his upper right arm, so seamless and perfectly fit as to appear apart of his flesh.
\"Oh!\" Hermione exclaimed, turning away, flushing. They hurried out of the room and Harry followed them into the living room. \"I didn\'t think the plan would work.\"
\"Why not?\" said Harry, somewhat defensively. He glanced between his best friends\' grim expressions, and felt his heart drop into the pit of his stomach and burn in his sudden nausea. \"What\'s wrong?\"
\"It\'s Tonks,\" Ron said. \"The Death Eaters cottoned onto her roll in the investigation. She\'s been captured and killed. Moody\'s called an emergency Order meeting…. We don\'t know if you should bring—\"
\"Potter,\" Harry spun around. Malfoy stood a few meters away, thankfully dressed, if only in a pair of Harry\'s boxer shorts and the blue button-down Harry had worn the day before. \"What time is it?\"
\"Half past one,\" Harry answered. Malfoy twisted the sleeve of Harry\'s shirt and turned to go, thought better of it, and looked at Harry expectantly.
\"May I go?\"
\"Go,\" Harry repeated. \"Go where?\"
\"I do have other obligations, Potter,\" Malfoy snapped. It was the first relapse in character that Harry had seen since meeting up with Malfoy again after all these years. \"Is it all right with you if I fulfill them?\"
Harry narrowed his eyes suspiciously. \"What obligations?\"
Sneering, Malfoy answered, \"Belladonna takes up most of my attention, for one.\"
\"Belladonna: your girlfriend?\"
\"Belladonna: my daughter.\"
