Chapter 7
Unexpected Attitude.

Harry looked at Helios as the phoenix flew happily above his head. The magnificent creature was quite close to Harry, actually, he had been since the moment he laid eyes on the young man.

Phoenix are very smart creatures. They know who is trustworthy, and they know a fake, who is up to no good.

“Wow Helios, you are in a good mood today,” Harry said as Helios sang and landed on Harry’s lap. Harry stroked the soft feathers on the birds back while looking at Lupin amusedly.

Lupin had acquired a new dwelling as another perk that came with his position. He now lived in a lovely cottage near the mountains in the magical world. He was really proud of his home, which Harry, as soon as he arrived there, decided was absolutely brilliant. There were three rooms, two bath rooms, a large kitchen and living room, and a great deal of old fashioned furniture.

Lupin was pacing his room anxiously, looking frantic and doubtful. He was really nervous about making sure he forgot nothing, he did want to make a good impression for his first day of work at Hogwarts. He took another look around his room and sighed. He had a lot to do. He looked up to see Harry smiling at him and frowned.

“You know, a little help would be very nice Harry. It would not kill you to give me a hand.” Lupin said in an exasperated tone.

“Oh, why didn’t you say so Remus, I would have given you a hand if you had asked from the get go.” Harry said. He started to clap.

“Oh, what a comedian,” Lupin said as he frowned at Harry. He then laughed despite himself. He was glad that Harry felt comfortable enough to call him by his first name.

“I am just messing with you. I will help so you don’t have a heart attack or something from all that stress.” Harry looked down at Helios and motioned for him to get up.

The phoenix nodded his head and took off to a near by perch that Eros was occupying. The hawk just looked the phoenix over before dozing off.

“Thanks Harry, I am so glad that you are here to help me through this transition.” Lupin looked over at Harry and smiled with a thankful expression.

Harry walked over to his god father and hugged the older man close to himself. He would do anything for his god father, no doubt about that.

“Awww, I am glad you let me come over here. I am happy to be rid of those prats.” Harry smiled at Lupin and backed up to examine the rest of the contents of the room.

“Well, Remus, shall we get started, or shall we put it off till the last minute?”

At that, Lupin dashed around the room packing all necessary items into a large chest. Harry watched him for a few seconds before he slowly walked around the room gathering a few overlooked items.

“So, tomorrow is the first day of school, are you excited about seeing Ron and Hermione,” Lupin asked as he wiped some sweat off his brow after accomplishing the task of packing everything in sight.

Harry scowled and turned to look out of the window. He was so pissed at his supposed friends. They did not seem to remember his existence since they got together at the end of the last term.

‘Bloody gits. Who needs them anyway? Good for nothing know-it-all and a bumbling idiot, I don’t need them at all.’ Harry thought as he turned back to see Remus giving him a slightly worried expression.

“Harry? Are you alright?”

“Hmm? Oh yeah, great. I just don’t think I will be spending a lot of time with those two this year.” Lupin’s jaw dropped when he heard this.

“I thought you three were best mates, what hap-…” Lupin stopped short when he saw anger boiling up in Harry. Lupin looked confused then averted his eyes as to not anger Harry even more.

“I am sorry Remus. I just don’t think that they care much about me now that they are together.”

Lupin’s eyes widened in realization as he looked back at Harry, who was staring out of the window again. Lupin then walked over to his god child and put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

“I am sorry Harry. I did not mean to butt in. I am sure you will make new friends, the ones that stay with you no matter what,” Lupin said as he patted Harry on the back.

“Yeah, thanks Remus. I will get better friends, friends who stay with me through thick and thin, and that will not ditch me to have snog fests.”


Lupin smiled and looked over at the old grand father clock in the living room.

“Wow, it is 8:00 already, you must be starving Harry.” Lupin said as he pushed Harry through the door of his room and into the kitchen. Harry’s stomach growled loudly as he took a seat at the small mahogany table.

“How could you tell?” Harry laughed as he looked over at Remus. A little known fact: Lupin was an amazing cook, and could whip up a delicious meal in no time. No magic used.

Lupin smiled back at Harry over his shoulder and started to chop up some vegetables for a beef stew. He grabbed all the required ingredients and started to chop, slice, boil, and stir. Harry watched in amazement at the speed at which Remus was cooking. Lupin then walked over to the table with two steaming bowls of the chunky stew and placed them before himself and Harry. He walked over to a box and grabbed a loaf of home made bread and placed that down too. He then sat down across from Harry.

“Dig in then Har-…” Lupin started but stopped when he saw that Harry had already started to spoon huge mouths full of the yummy stew. He just smiled at the boy and slowly started to eat from his bowl.

“Good night Harry, sweet dreams.” Lupin called over to Harry, who was yawning as he walked into his room. Harry waved to Lupin and walked into his room. He fell onto his bed and whistled softly. Helios flew into the room in seconds and lay next to Harry. The boy smiled softly as the phoenix started to sing to him, something that the bird did every night since he went home with Harry. Harry fell asleep in a minute, listening to the lovely melody emitted from his friend.

“Harry, get up. We have to get going or we are going to be late.”

Harry groggily opened his eyes and looked over to the small desk clock.

“Bullocks!!” Harry jumped out of bed, startling Helios from his peaceful slumber. Harry apologized to the affronted bird and ran around his room gathering the clothes he would be wearing today. He slipped a black shirt with the words Eat Me written on it with red letters. He grabbed a pair of loose fitting blue pants and pulled them up. Next, he grabbed a cross necklace and his lightning belt and pulled them on.

“Harry, get a move on!!”

“I am coming Remus, one second.” Harry ran into the bathroom that was connected to his room and washed his face and brushed his teeth. He ran his hand through his unruly locks and ran out to meet Lupin.

“Ready to apparate Harry?”

“Yeah, hold on.” Harry whistled and both Eros and Helios flew to their owners' shoulders.

“Good, we have everything arranged. I already spelled our things to the train’s storage compartment, so we are set.” Lupin said as he looked at his house one more time.

“Let’s go then Harry.”

“Ok, lets go.” Harry smiled as he started to count down from 3.

“3…..2…1..” The two wizards and birds disappeared into thin air.

They landed gracefully in an alley near the train station, as to not be observed by any muggles. They then walked over to the station and continued until they got to the wall that led to Platform 9 ¾.

“Well, let’s get a move on,” Lupin said as he started to walk into the wall. Harry followed after him as he looked around to see if anyone noticed two guys with birds on their shoulders. No one was paying much attention, so he walked through the wall alongside his god father.

“All Aboard!! The train will be departing in five minutes, so get on now,” A man walked by and bowed to Lupin.

“You are Remus Lupin, the new Head Master, right?” Lupin nodded shyly and stood up a little straighter. Harry snickered.

“Well, it is a pleasure to meet you Head Master, good luck.” With that, the man bowed again to both Harry and Lupin and walked away continuing to usher people onto the train.

“Well, here we go then Harry.” He walked up a step on the train then turned to address Harry.

“Oh, I forgot, I am going to have to sit-…”

“I know, I know, I will find Luna and sit with her. Have a good time up there with all the special people.” Lupin smiled and walked into the train to sit in a compartment reserved for important, school-related people.

Harry walked in a little after and started to search for Luna in the many compartments filled with little kids.

“Harry, over here Harry!!”

Harry smiled as he turned and saw Luna waving at him through one of the compartments door ways.

“Yeah, I will be right there,” Harry said as he maneuvered his way over to the room and slipped in behind Luna. It was empty, so he was grateful.

“Wow Harry, your phoenix is so beautiful. When did you get him??” Luna asked as she reached out to stroke the bird, who rubbed his head softly against her palm.

“Rem- I mean Head Master Lupin gave him to me a few days ago. His name is Helios.”

“Wow, he is gorgeous.” She said as she looked at Harry.

“Harry, I wanted to thank you for sitting with me, you could have sat with Hermione and Ron, but you decided to sit with me. That is unless they will be accompanying us in here…” Luna looked a little down as she said that last sentence.

“No, we are not really friends any more.” Harry said bitterly.

“Oh…. Sorry about that Harry, I did not know…”

“It’s alright Luna, I don’t need them now that I have you as a friend.”

Luna blushed and looked out of the window of the compartment to see Hermione and Ron kissing fiercely. She frowned and turned back to Harry, who was looking at the couple also, a disgusted look playing across his face.

The two finally stopped kissing and walked casually into the compartment to see a very angry Harry and a very uncomfortable Luna.

“Harry, Luna, it is wonderful to see you two again,” Hermione said as she walked over to hug Harry, who moved away from her as if she was diseased.

“Hey Harry, how you been mate?” Ron tried as he looked over at the hurt Hermione. Harry just sneered at Ron and huffed as he turned to look angrily out of the window.

“Harry, what’s the matter with you? Have you gone daff?? Why are you being such a prat?” Ron asked as he walked over to Hermione and tried to console her. The red heads' eyes flashed dangerously.

Harry slowly turned to glare at the two Griffindors.

“I think you know exactly what’s the matter with me. You two arse's were too busy getting it on to even write to me. I am sorry If I am not Mr. Sunshine when it comes to you two gits. So you go on and snog all you want, just don’t expect me to be there to cheer you on.” Harry sat down next to Luna, who was sitting quietly watching him rant.


Ron and Hermione’s jaws fell open as they stared at Harry in shock and confusion.

Next to Harry, Helios flapped his wings angrily at the two people who upset his owner. He started to cry out shrilly, as if to warn the two not to mess with his friends. Hermione looked at the phoenix for a moment and reached a hand out to stroke it. Helios became angry and blazed while he nipped at Hermione’s hand. She pulled it back to herself quickly. The bird settled back as Harry began to stroke him approvingly.


“Harry, stop acting like a prat and get over yourself. Yes, me and Hermione are together now, but you don’t have to be jealous….”

Harry’s eyes widened as he heard his former friend say that. Luna squirmed in her seat.

“Jealous!! Jealous? Of you two losers getting together?? I couldn’t care less that you two want to fuck each others brains out, be my guest.” Harry yelled as a few passerby's stopped to look into the compartment. Harry shot a glare at them and they all scattered.

Hermione blushed deeply and Ron looked as if he would murder Harry on the spot.

“Fuck you Harry. You can go to hell you ruddy bastard!!” Ron grabbed Hermione’s hand and pulled her through the door and stormed down the aisle into another compartment.

Harry just smirked and laughed as Luna looked at him and started to laugh also.

“I guess they don’t like you now Harry,” Luna said as she dried her eyes.

“Like I give a damn,” Harry laughed as he also wiped a few tears from his eyes.

Luna smiled as she pulled out The Quibbler and started to read silently.

Harry smiled at her and got up to close the door. That was when he spotted Draco in the aisle talking to another guy and laughing. If Harry didn't know any better, he would have sworn he could smell the blond, an intoxicating fragrance wafted toward him.

Harry frowned. He was getting jealous, and he did not like to be jealous.

“Luna, I will be back in a few minutes, ok? Keep an eye on Helios, will you?”

“Hmm, oh, sure.” Luna said as she eyed Harry before returning to her magazine.

Harry stormed over to Draco and the other boy and grabbed the blonds' arm roughly. Draco shivered at the touch but quickly composed himself.

“What is your problem Potter, can’t you see civilized people are trying to have a conversation??” Draco sneered at Harry.

‘He seems different, almost attractive,’ Draco thought, then quickly berated himself for thinking such a thing.

“I need to talk to you, ALONE.” Harry looked pointedly to the other teen, who shrugged and walked down the aisle to find another compartment.

“Fuck off Potter, I don’t want anyone to see me with you,” Draco said as he tried to pull his arm away from Harry’s grasp. But the boy would not relent his hold on him.

“I will say when you can go Malfoy.” Draco’s eyes widened as he was pushed into a near by room, which was, unfortunately for Draco, empty.

Harry closed the door and locked it. He then spelled for a curtain to cover the window. Draco looked shocked as he tried to push past Harry.

“Fucken prat, move out of my way, or else.” Draco threatened as he pulled out his wand. It quickly flew out of his hand, however, as Harry cast the expelliarmus spell. Harry then grabbed Draco’s hand as he pocketed his own wand. He then grabbed the other hand and pulled Draco’s arms above his head.

“Let go of me you arse,” Draco screamed as he tried to break Harry’s hold on him. But it was no use, he could not get free.

“Draco, you know you like this….” Harry said as he thrust his hips forward to grind with the blonds' pelvis. Draco could feel Harry’s erection moving across his thigh. He started to grow too.

Draco whimpered as he tried to squirm out of Harry’s grasp. He then looked up to glare daggers at the ebony haired boy.

“Fuck you Potter. Now unhand me or you will suffer my wrath,” Draco said as he tried to knee Harry. He missed, however, when Harry moved his hips to the side to avoid the blow.

“You like to play hard to get, huh Malfoy…… Fine, I can wait. I love a challenge.” Harry lowered his head to nibble on the slytherin’s ear. He worked his way down to lick the other boy’s neck softly. Draco shivered and moaned under the other boys minstations.

Harry smirked at the other boys reaction, then backed away. Draco looked confused for a second before reverting back to his arrogant self. He was kind of disappointed, though.

“I knew you would be too scared Potter.” Draco grabbed his wand from the floor and opened the door.

Harry smiled after him and walked behind the other boy. He then grabbed Draco’s erection from behind. Draco gasped as he was being felt up. He was loving every second of it.

“I knew you were enjoying it too,” Harry said smugly as he walked past the slytherin and down the aisle back to his room. Leaving a very shocked, and nervous, Draco behind.

“Welcome back Harry. Where have you been?” Luna asked as Harry walked in and sat down.

“Hmm? Oh, nowhere in particular. Just sampling some of the fine cuisine on the train (yummy!! Draco XD).” Harry laughed as Luna stared at him like he had gone crazy.
