Chapter 7: School’s Back
Sorry for any Grammer/ other issues. I don\'t have a beta. They will be pulling somethings together soon. Severus will be popping back and so will Draco.
Chapter 7: School’s Back
Search of Snape’s school records occurs at the same time as other searches.
“If I never see another dentention slip it will be too soon,” moans Ginny.
“Yea, this stuff is dusty. I found his records. Wow, he was really smart Perfect Newts and Owls. Figures. Here something different, Snape entered Hogwarts two years earlier than everyone else” mentions Neville.
“That must have been tough, particular in Slytherin. They don’t strike me as the warm fuzzy type,” claims Ginny.
“I just found an obituary here for Tobias Snape. Looks like he died a year or so after Snape was born. Looks like he died in a Potions accident of some sort. The Daily Prophet doesn’t give a lot detail. Here is another one for Eileen Prince Snape about 10 years after her husband. It says here she died of an unknown, but extended illness in St. Mungo’s and the Snape was left in the care of his maternal uncle. I wonder what he was like,” considers Neville.
“Here are some pictures. Looks like Snape was part of Slughorn’s group. I think we should really have a talk with him,” muses Ginny as she shuffles some pictures of an old Potion’s class around. She suddenly stops at a particular picture of three students standing at lab table. In the picture you can see them moving and joking around cauldron.
“Look who else is in the picture and is standing right next to Snape,” points out Neville.
“Lily Potter and who is the blond? Wait, is that who I think it is?” murmurs a shocked Ginny.
“Yes, that looks like a one Narcissa Black Malfoy and they all look pretty chummy to me. Harry and Malfoy aren’t going to like this at all,” breathes Neville.
“I wonder what they were doing for Slughorn…,” considers Ginny.
“ Who knows,” muses Neville, “That guy seems to know more than he actually telling.”
“Well, he will be our next stop,” says Ginny as she gathers the picture and the rest of Snape’s records together.
“You mean your going to talk to him now! I thought Hermione wanted to do that later,” points out Neville.
“I think now is as good a time as any. In fact, I think Slughorn might be more talkative with us anyway. You know the element of surprise. Besides aren’t you just a little bit curious about Snape…come on Neville you know you are…,” wheedles Ginny.
“Alright, I am. Snape never fit in anywhere did he. I mean think about…as a Slytherin he had issues because he was a halfbood. And the Gryffindors didn’t trust him because he knew so many dark spells. He was younger than everyone else and he just survived,” muses Neville.
“Nope, he didn’t fit in anywhere. I think I starting to really like him. Don’t tell anyone, but next Remus he was our best DADA teacher, “admits Ginny.
