Chapter 4. Part A. Will Your Love Surround Me?
Chapter 4. Part A. Will Your Love Surround Me?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darkness. Complete and utter darkness, yet the warmth, gained from the familiar presence, was enough to stave off the feeling of impending doom. Then all of a sudden, it hit him.
Veritas odium parit. Truth begets hate.
A feeling of despair surrounded him upon his remembrance of those words. How cynical they seemed to his young mind, when he had first heard them uttered by one of his ancestral portraits. He pushed such reminiscences to the back of his mind. First and foremost was his concern for Harry. His eyes were once again doing their thing, with the whole adjustment to the dim light filtering through the leadlight windows of the tower.
Draco stalked over to one of the windows, opening it wide. Brilliantly luminous moonlight of the palest ivory, spilled into the room, bathing the sparse furnishings in an ethereal glow. Turning towards the furthermost corner of the room, Draco gasped in wonder. Lying prone on the plainly dressed bed was his very own Boy-Who-Lived.
Even though he knew it to be real, this dreamlike discovery of his love, the sight left him dazed with relief and tenderness. Harry looked so fragile and alone. An unloved orphan. But Draco knew no one could say that was the truth, even though Harry would irrevocably be forever an orphan, he was most definitely loved. And adored. And worshipped. Yes. Draco was blessed.
He stood by the bed tenderly loving Harry with his eyes and his mind. However, the calm figure of a young man soon began to shake, quiver and tense. An anguished howl was released from the taught, strained vocal chords of Draco\'s beloved Harry. Draco froze; he could do nothing but stare in shock. Even loving Harry as much as he did, he couldn\'t seem to find the courage to face him at this instance... So he stood unmoving, and unsure, of who he was in the great scheme of things. The \"great scheme of things\" that was Harry Potter\'s life.
With a sudden jolt, and a sickening scream, Harry Potter finally awoke. His scream was cut off just as suddenly as it had been emitted from his throat as he took a shuddering breath, his body shaking from whatever unknown darkness plagued his sleep. As he sat there in his bed, the hairs on his arms, and the nape of his neck, prickled. A cold sweat had broken over his body, causing him to shiver. His eyes widened in shock, trying to remember where he was and how he had gotten there. His eyes flicked frantically about the room, trying to discern his location in the dark. Realization dawning, he exhaled a sigh of relief. Recognition was no longer a problem. He knew exactly where he was.
His favourite place in Hogwarts was situated in one of the unused towers of the school. Dumbledore himself had given Harry the necessary clues to find this place of solitude that had soon become more of a home to him than Gryffindor Tower had ever been. This was his place for reminiscence and lamentation, where Harry could sit and sob his soul out till he was spent of all emotion, too tired to do more than gently rock himself to and fro in a gesture of deepest sorrow. He had lost so much, yet he had still managed what was expected of him.
Could fate not leave me be, to wallow in my grief, without extracting yet another who I loved, oh so dearly, his heart asked his mind, pleading with what emotion was left within it. Harry\'s heart-wrenching sobs echoed around the barely furnished room, resounding in the darkness, a pitiful cry for love.
\"Where are you? Why did you leave me!? You promised me! You PROMISED!\" His anguished words blanketed by the miserable ambiance, \"Why did you leave me?\"
Pain pervaded this last word, whispered in tender torment, \"Oliver...\"
A/N: Uhh... was that a little unexpected? Eheh... I hope so! Anyhow. More plot, and more answers, should ensue in Part B. of this chapter. Please look forward to it!
